I swear that sticker is moving!

Archive: 18 posts

Well, this might be just a problem with my PS3 or a problem with my brain but I'm going to share this with you anyway

There's this bug that occurs sometimes when I'm cutting out a sticker with the corner editing tool for a sticker switch or a character, where the sticker is very, very slowly moving upwards. I'll have zoomed in to cut out a tricky bit of a sticker, zoom out to find that it has gone upwards a few centimetres on the screen.

Lets say I'm cutting out a Frankenstein character sticker, it will have gone upwards so the head has gone off the cardboard cut-out, the body is on the head area, the legs on the body area etc...

I'm not too sure why this happens but I think it is when you make the object that the sticker is on bigger, then when you go back to cutting it out, the bug happens.

The sticker only moves when you are editing it with the corner editing tool though.

This isn't really a help thread, I was just wondering if any of you people here get this bug?

 Sounds terrible!

However, as Einstein might say, "Was the sticker moving upward, or was the cardboard moving upwards?"

lol

OMG I'm a n00b... I always used tiny circles and a huge material to cut out a sticker... I never used the corner editor EVER!2009-10-10 04:30:00

Lol ktang! I haven't run into that issue but when I'm making custome stickers and I make the material real big so I have room to work... I will expand the sticker and end up at the other end of the level. 2009-10-10 13:47:00

That is a very common problem, turn on grid mode to prevent that from happening.

Yeah I've also ran into this bug. I do battle with it constantly while doing cut outs. In my case, cutting out the shape while the level is unpaused seems to reduce the amount of times I've come across the bug.2009-10-10 15:13:00

Strange....
I made a lot of stickers cut-out, but this never happened to me!

Happened to me alot when I was making a few character cutouts with sackboy/girl pics... I figure calculating the target point of where the center of your sticker was when you originally placed it on an object that's changing shape... I had to regularly reposition the sticker on the linework and re-tailor it before continuing the cut.2009-10-10 17:16:00

That does sound annoying, though I've never encountered it myself.

A suggestion: place the sticker on a piece of flat, thin glass in the front layer. Then cut a small hole in the glass so you can select the material you want to cut out into the shape of the sticker. Switch into Front View, and cut out your material with the sticker on the glass in the layer in front of it as an outline. Finally, move the glass out of the way and, using the sticker selection tool, move the sticker from the glass to the cutout.

Yup, has happened to me also. Generally when performing complex reshaping of material which changes the vertices. I was never surprised this happened, however - I'm not sure how they would do this perfectly considering the physical changes in shape coupled with rounding math limitations. If drawing in LittleBigPlanet were pixel based (such as mspaint) it wouldn't occur, but it doesn't surprise me here.

No, silly, the cardboard would be moving downwards.

Was I the only one that noticed this flaw?
Or was I just the only one that was motivated enough to do anything about it?

Anyway, this has never happened to me, but it sounds like a pain.

The latter.

I come off stuffy enough already, and I would have had to expand it with even more clarifications and notes, so I just let it go.

Trust me, there are other things on the forum right now I'm making a conscious effort to 'let go'.

Yep... the latter for me as well.

Baby steps Jagrevi... baby steps.

I was planning of prize level of nothing but sticker cut-outs but quit after I realized how much work it would be and the fact that probably very few people would play it. Got about 30 cut-outs done using the corner editor and I had to go back and retouch up about half of them because the sticker would move a little. It's very annoying.2009-10-14 16:55:00

I still haven't conducted a proper experiment yet to understand why this happens, I always forget 2009-10-14 18:46:00
