How did I miss this?

Archive: 27 posts

This sounds really stupid but i just worked out that if you press square on the candle object, you can adjust the flame for super awesome lighting effects, then copy it off the candle in hide it somewhere.

did everyone know this, or am i on my lonesome?

Dont feel alone because I didnt xD but then again I never used the candle but I knew about this with the normal lights.2009-10-07 23:32:00

You're all alone. Noob! lulz!

Heh just kidding It's a very interesting thing that plenty of people still might not know about, so kudos for posting. I figured it out during the pre-release beta and I'm sure initial word of this spread from people figuring it out then.

Yes you can basically do that with any light object. I still learn a few new things from time to time... Only then do I relize how deep the game was and how great of a job MM did with it. 2009-10-08 00:13:00

Wow... I'm kinda surprised that a lot of you didn't know this. No offense, though - it took me a while to get it, too. 2009-10-08 03:35:00

you can also edit it and then copy it. Meaning you can copy lights that have purple or green glows 2009-10-08 03:42:00

I had no idea!

Ha, one day someone will be like "hey, did you know that if you pressed square on the background selection you can change it to first person?"

This.

I can't believe I've never tried that before, or maybe I have and don't emember? I could of sworn I've tried square on all of the lights, but the candle was one of a couple that couldn't be tweaked. I must be thinking of something else.

Lol.

I have known this for a long time...

There should be a list of things you can tweak(or press square on):

-anything in the pop-it (pictures, objects, costumes, tools)
-level rankings and photos
-gas
-plasma bullet
-paintainator
-missiles
-candles
-spotlights
-fairy lights
-LED lights
-rockets
-switches
-creature brains
-connections (string, rod)
-bolts
-global lighting tool
-emitters
-sound objects
-music
-MGS searchlight

Anything else?

Wow, I too, never realized you could tweak a candle flame.

I know you can't do it to the flame itself after detaching and copying it separately, so I'm assuming you have to tweak the candle itself beforehand? This, I don't believe I've tried.

Wow, amazed so many didn't know this actually. I used this in my first level!!
Then again, I have my growing list of noob discoveries as well.

I had my flame drop off its candle by accident. Don't even know how it happened. Also, it seems to be floating just a little in front of the candle, if you look at it sideways. 2009-10-08 12:32:00

I'm also amazed alot of people didn't know this. I used it quite a lot in my Sacky Potter with flames giving off blue light.2009-10-08 19:22:00

I've known this for a while, but I'm still finding out new tricks everyday. Yesterday, for example, I realized that the more people you have, the more you can make the pod rock by running back and forth in a group. 2009-10-08 19:33:00

I knew it for a while, too.

But, did you know that you can copy that tweaked flame onto a bomb, blow it up, and there will be a glowing orb floating there, with the same properties as the flame?

Oh, and beware, you can not remove the orb no matter what. (Unless you rewind.)

I could imagine this being used behind decorations so that they look like they're glowing...

Also, I don't think they take up any thermo space... (You just have to clean the burn marks up after you blow them up.)

-MGS spotlight

I know I'm arguing semantics, but it's the MGS searchlight. The spotlight is the light we get from the Metropolis.

Edit: Sorry. Is 2 days ago no longer relevant? haha

so why were people drooling over the candle glitch that did let you take/copy a candle flame if the game allowed it already??
