Zingolo - Cadbury's Goes Fairtrade

Archive: 8 posts

The news that Cadbury's has gone fully fairtrade certified has been accompanied by the release of Glass And A Half Full Records' first single: Zingolo feat. Tinny (a famous Ghanian rapper). You may know the company as being put in front of the Gorilla and Racing ads, but now they're actually producing - and the song's very addictive.

Here's the 60-second edit of Zingolo feat. Tinny, that you may have seen floating around your television screens:

If you like the song, it's available from iTunes, all nett profit goes to charity.

Cadbury Dairy Milk has created its first ever single, inspired by Ghanaian music and celebrating Cadbury Dairy Milk becoming Fairtrade certified.

Ghana is the heart of Cadbury Dairy Milk's Fairtrade cocoa, so Cadbury decided to film the latest Glass and a Half Full Production there and work with Ghanaian musicians to create a magical follow up to ?Gorilla', ?Trucks' and ?Eyebrows'.

Glass and a Half Full Records has collaborated with Ghana's hottest music superstar, Tinny, to produce a track and music video called Zingolo. A 60 second preview of the track and music video is now airing on TV, which started during this Saturday's X-Factor, and the full single is available on iTunes.

In an unusual approach to promoting a Fairtrade initiative, the track and video were all inspired by Ghanaian culture and their love for music. Shot on location in Ghana it involves local communities, cocoa farmers and some of the hottest Ghanaian dancers.

Phil Rumbol, marketing director for Cadbury comments: ?We wanted to celebrate Cadbury Dairy Milk's Fairtrade certification and Ghana, the heart of our Fairtrade cocoa, in a unique way.

"Music has always been a big part of Glass and a Half Full Productions and we were inspired by Ghana's love of music so it seemed the perfect way to capture the spirit of the country was through a track. We hope we'll bring a smile to people's faces."

Cadbury profits from the sale of this single will go to the charity CARE International to fund education programmes in cocoa growing communities in Ghana.

The production celebrates the partnership between Cadbury Dairy Milk and The Fairtrade Foundation. Cadbury Dairy Milk is now Fairtrade certified in the UK and Ireland, and in 2010 will extend this to Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

EDIT: Oh, sorry, should this be Gen. Media or Gen. Chat? The videos are media, but the other stuff is news...

So when I buy a Boost from the vending machines, I can write that off as a good deed now?

That will make the kitkat chuncky vs boost debate that little bit easier
