How to make a book?
Archive: 9 posts
Hello, I only collected 80% of bubble prizes on the story mode, so I don't really know if there is an object representing a book available somewhere. I tried to make a book myself with cardboard for a few hours now, and I can't manage to obtain a nice result. Could you please spare some advices on how to make a book? Which tool or material should give a good result? My main idea is an opened book laying on the floor (like this (http://www.pertuset.net/openbook/wp-content/themes/pearly-grey-10/pearly-grey-10/images/top_banner.jpg)) , though I'll also need other kind of books. I'm making you a little shape in photoshop of how I think a book should look like. If you follow this design, I think it would look good.. just give me a sec.. | 2009-10-06 15:28:00 Author: javi haguse Posts: 744 |
Here it is. I hope it helps! I don't remember seeing a book in the objects but I might be wrong.. If you follow this shape I think you'll be fine. Just make sure that the cover is a different material. | 2009-10-06 15:32:00 Author: javi haguse Posts: 744 |
Thanks javi haguse This is exactly what I drew on paper before I tried to transpose it in the game. The fact is I'm having a rough time to reproduce it with an analogic stick. Plus, I can't find a material with a paper feeling... this is what's blocking me | 2009-10-06 16:08:00 Author: Finkle Posts: 7 |
Hmm... the most thermo friendly I can recommend is making the cover out of one piece of cardboard, and the pages out of 1 or 2 seperate pieces of cardboard ( maybe 1 piece for each the left and right sides) color the cover how you'd like with stickers, in the doodles section of stickers there are these sort of curved lines you can use to draw lines representing pages with ... look through the stickers to find something that might look paperesque... I highly recommend doing it in a sort of blob with cartoony lines, not just for thermometer's sake but for physics calculations. Rather than say modelling some pages individually like in your first pic... lines and black paint work wonders | 2009-10-06 16:14:00 Author: Foofles Posts: 2278 |
Have you tried the pointer tool? For each section, you should try starting with a rectangle. Then with the pointer tool add the curvature. Then Copy it and flip it horizontally.. Then all you have to do is the cover.. Would that work? | 2009-10-06 16:50:00 Author: javi haguse Posts: 744 |
You mean the corner editing tool? Here is what I reccomend doing - Make a big block of whatever material, corner edit it until it looks like a giant book, then simply shrink it down and you should have a very detailed looking small book. | 2009-10-06 17:22:00 Author: Sunrise_Moon Posts: 469 |
I made a couple of these for Project Dig. (Omg, clues everywhere!) Just follow the intructions that these guys gave you and you should do fine. It worked for me! Also as said before Corner Editing Tool=Beautifulness with a cherry | 2009-10-06 18:58:00 Author: Plasmavore Posts: 1913 |
well yeah.. corner edit tool... I wouldn't do it that way cause most likely it wouldn't be symmetric.. just follow what I said | 2009-10-06 19:04:00 Author: javi haguse Posts: 744 |
