Rude or Questionable Photos posted on my level

Archive: 93 posts

ok - I'm not a prude or sheltered or anything but I have to put this out there. If your playing a level someone has spent TONS of time crafting, testing and getting just right.... PLEASE DON'T upload photos to it that may get it moderated! I won't mention names but 4 individuals have posted a photo that if examined really shouldn't have been uploaded on my level.

I don't want to overreact but c'mon guys - fun is fun but putting content like that up is just begging for some kids mom or dad to good grief the level and the worst part is I can't do anything about it.

MM needs to be able to put a feature in were creators can pull photos out of the upload if needed or have a way to have them remove them without getting the level moderated.

I haven't had any problems yet but if I do I will be heartbroken. PLEASE be aware that your uploaded photo can cause problems for creators who work really hard on their creations.

ok - I don't feel any better about it but I wanted people to please be aware that it's not funny..... it can hurt.

Hmmm... more "wise-cracks" you say? I might have to come out of retirement for this... :kz:.

Don't worry about it. Other people will realize what's going on and understand the situation at hand. Just going into the level and uploading a pic of your own will help get rid of this problem.

But if they DO come back... well, you'll see. :kz:

Ya.. I know a few people stickers pics of Swastikas on my levels and took pics...I am guessing they thought it would be funny since I am Jewish...I find no humor in it at all and don't know how I can remove the pictures from the picture section when checking out my level.2009-10-06 06:46:00

Actually someone was saying on another thread that if you upload 10 of your own photos to that level the originals get bumped off. Not sure if that's accurate as fortunately I've never had to try it, but I get where you're coming from. However, it won't end. It's the same kind of mentality that gets a kick out of graffitying people's property (and the same age group for the most part).

As a mum, I realise that the pictures uploaded are not the creator's most of time and wouldn't good grief a level before contacting the creator or leaving a comment. But that's just me. I hope you can get rid of them and I hope the vandals don't return : )

Ok, this is serious. I can get someone trying to spoil an ending or showing off a cheat or something, but that level of profanity in your levels is just plain wrong. That's just like posting a pentagram on one of mine!!

Do you know who did this? Cuz I'll find a way to get them to sing! :kz::kz:

Yeah - this would be my suggestion... everyone who reads this thread - go right now and play Morgana's level. Stop, pose for a nice pic showing off her level, and upload. In no time at all, these delinquents will be relegated to the archives.

You know, I was actually serious about a "task force".

If the bumping pictures thing works (will have to try that out), why couldn't we have a group that keeps an eye out for immature and offensive content, posts the level on the thread and the members of the group load the level when next online, take a pic or two to upload and then exit. That's less work for the creator and hopefully less stress. It could be called "LBPCCitizens Against Idiocy".. or something .. I don't know.

I'd be willing to help out in that situation as it would indeed be heartbreaking for a creator to lose a level to moderation.

Edit - Maybe we need to pay more attention to the photos - be on the lookout - in order to help out when we see questionable pix - at least until Mm do something about it in any case.

you do know that not all swastikas and pentagams are evil right?

depending on what way it faces is a clue. the evil intepretation is most often the secendary one, they just inverted it to go against its good meaning. whatever meaning, its all offensive to me sometimes (depends what it does)...religion...dont like it....interested in it, but i dont sway that way. so if i see anything religious i should technically be able to condem what parts of it offend me too, as they are allowed to anything they see as bad or evil. not all religious aspects irk me, but some do....but that doesnt stop it being a point of interest for me as a whole

however, no matter what way it is they post it to annoy and or offend you. it would be good to have a thing where uploaded images arent uploaded yet....there could be a box with images people wanted to upload and you then chose the ones that make it on or something

I can't remember correctly (sorry its the middle of the night here) But my suspicions point to that bonner123 guy, when he put in the comments section to heart him or else he'll good grief you (and I'll bet he thinks putting up rude annonymous pics and good griefing it will take it down, isn't he the same guy who was harrasing lil-klash a while ago?)

if i'm wrong on these things i apologize. But on the bright side, i did record CSC5. I left a post on your level Morgana. So maybe that'll cheer you up while we go after bonner

Bonner123? Isn't he a member here at LBPCentral? Surely no-one who posts here would be stupid enough and disrespectful enough to do that...would they? If it is him, he should be kicked off the forums, but maybe someone on his friends list should PM him and see what he has to say for himself first.

Anyway, I'm sorry to hear you've been targetted like that Morgana. If you could say which of your levels has been vandalised then maybe we could start to upload "nice" photos to replace the bad ones.

Its not bonner123, the comment he left on the level was a joke.

It is two other people from the forum though, I recognised the names. A bit disrespectful if you ask me, seeing as one of them has had two levels spotlighted by the very person who's level they've posted the pics on...

Okay, I had a look and noticed it was Abyssias Lair that got vandalised, so I've uploaded my own pic.

To settle the speculation once and for all, it it was Steve_Big_Guns and his friends who uploaded the offensive pic. I think we should all go easy on him though, because this guy is clearly struggling to compensate for the psychological insecurities of small penis syndrome. How unfortunate for the poor fellow!

I'm really failing to understand why he would do that.
The only reason to would be jealousy, but since his level was spotlighted too, that makes little sense.

That's an annoying problem, and I'm sorry it happened to you Morganna
Some people just don't think...

I'm also ok with you that MM needs to put a feature in were creators can pull photos out of the upload if needed
or have a way to have them remove!
I didn't had the same kind of "serious" problem as you, that can cause the level moderation,
but it would also allow to remove some annoying pictures like some people who sticker all over your level in an ugly way,
or for example that guy who stickered a picture of Mariah Carey (I think...) in bathingsuit, all boobs out, in one of my level...

I forget who it was that helped me out, but when almost all my levels got bombarded by a certain green steroid junkie with pictures like that, I wasn't sure how to go about reporting it. I didn't want to grief my own level in case it got moderated, but they griefed it for me, and the pictures were removed somehow. I'm not sure if they were able to grief the pictures independently from the level, or if MM took the time to see what the problem was, and removed them individually from it.2009-10-06 12:56:00

I had this issue with Splat Invaders III BIG time - I had to get up in the morning and upload a bunch of pictures myself to rotate them out - several mornings.

I think DEFINATELY MM should have a feature that allows you to remove pictures from your own level. I was stunned there was no way to do it.

Another issue is players can somehow post pictures with no name, so they can retain some anonymity - which is even worse. They feel comfortable about putting just about anything up there.

(someone turned my Washington Memorial into a, ummm, male member)

Lack of ability to remove uploaded picks, and being able to get pictures uploaded without a player name is a HUGE issue considering the "Everyone" rating of LittleBigPlanet.

Wow!!! So sorry to hear that this happened! ..and happy others jumped in to help so quickly.

I agree that pulling individual pics is a plus for the creator. I've been pretty lucky, but every so often felt I needed a friend or alternate account to move a disturbing pic off. Thankfully none have ever been that bad, but some humor can be misunderstood. I try to be very mindful of the E rating even though in real life in adult company, I am not usually E rated.

If anything it has reminded me that when playing friends levels to take a look at their pics and comments. I usually post one or two anyway when playing, but for some reason forgot to when playing Abyssias Lair and the non beta version of Splat 3. Just been busy with other things so things like that and actually playing LBP as much have been off the radar.

I did see a few calling for a sort of swat team, but rather than that if we had a thread stickied or at least a more permanent generic thread (sorta like the Gone Thread) to help folks in need like in this case? That way you might get all of LBPC on alert which would be helpful as you could end up with 24/7 coverage of sorts considering all the different time zones.

When you good grief something you are able to take a photo of whatever it is you want to good grief, I'm guessing the person who helped you out took a photo of the pictures uploaded, then MM deletes the pictures.

Also, to those of you in the beta... Fess up! Are we going to be able to delete the images uploaded to our own levels?? I have been hoping this feature would come since March when some ***** decided to upload some nasty pictures on ALL my levels. I was heartbroken back then, I felt like I had worked so hard so some idiot could just ruin it. =[

Also it seems as though Steve likes to hang out with alot of immature kids... Kids that you can tell only want to be his friend because he is the most hearted creator on LBP. Kinda pathetic.

Thanks guys for the support and the photo rescue. I so love this community!

I wasn't calling for a posse per se but just wanted to make an appeal to people to think before they post a photo. And let MM know that it's something that they should take a look at fixing in future updates. It just made me realize it's one of those parts of the game that leaves creators at the mercy of the community (good eggs and bad eggs alike.)

I'm not calling out people but I want to be clear that Vidi & bonner123 had NOTHING to do with the photo either.

Thanks for this forum. Luckily I have never gotten any pictures but I'm not a known creator either. It surprised me that it was steve-big-guns. I definitely wasn't expecting that. I think it was probably jealousy. It's good to know the picture is gone now.

I think a photo upload team is a great idea - count me in if you get it started. After Morgana's level is fixed up, I think the next assignment should be to head on over to a few of Ladylyn1's levels. Take a look at some of his uploaded photos.

I also agree that being able to add or delete the uploaded photos on your level is a much needed update. But until then the upload photo team (they need a cool name!) would work.

glad it got cleared up for you.

good people went and put up pictures for you.

You can always post a bunch of pictures yourself and check which ones are still being displayed by cycling through them with the square button (i just recently realized this and was like Oh!)
But it is good that other people did it for you becuase its more fun to have pictures of other people there

If you see a swastika posted on a level made by a person with "Jew" in their username, it doesn't matter which way it's facing. It's offensive, it's anti-Semitic, and it's wrong.

its hindu or something. but whatever. all religions by that logic are "wrong" since imagery from any one of them seems to offend another religion anyway

still though. no matter your beliefs it is heart breaking for someone to insult it like that. even me, as a person who doesnt buy into it would equally find it as offensive for a religious person to insult what i believe in. however if its in the form of a little joke and no bad motive behind it im ok with it. i make jokes about what others are into and what they believe and they do the same to me....its just a mess around. if were so prudish to not do this...then...we'd be taking life way too seriously for our own good. but we know when to stop and we know a jokes limits

it seems in this case they posted images to insult and not joke around....which is a bit harsh i agree with that

however in other nude cases i dont see why nudity is offensive....its our body, we know what its for...why is this so wrong?. i dont mind seeing nudity at all, i hardly think its wrong or offensive or damaging to children (since they gotta learn about it too, i mean they are in a body also). its a bit of meat with skin on it thats all

now what its used for...is another thing. normal sexual relationships and sexual acts....i see no offense in that either. its a show of affection, often love. only a stuck up prude would hate on it. but if people dont want that content in their levels, its their choice. not everything has to have sex in it. i think some things are better without nudity or anything in it as well, but that doesnt mean i dislike the whole agenda.

as for hardcore sexual acts....no bother, whatever gets them going >_>

as long as nobody gets needlessly hurt im ok with it...its just sex, its just a body...without it, you wouldnt be able to hate on it

This is getting slightly off topic but, I think what could go on in a person's mind while viewing nude pics or videos is what makes it morally wrong. Sure, not everyone thinks nudity is offensive, but if some people do, then it's only right to respect their opinion while being around them. And as for the game itself, Mm made the rules, we have to abide by them. It never dawned on me that people would actually consider uploading an offensive picture on a level that someone worked very hard on, until a couple months ago when a buddy of mine dealt with this problem. It's sad really.

This game is rated E and there's a certain standard the MM moderators have to adhere to in order to keep that - which includes moderating "inappropriate" content of a sexual nature. Now that said I recently checked out a character for poorjack and while it's of a nude nature - it's tasteful and not graphic and shows no anatomical details that would cause moderation imo.

The photo in this particular incident was of a sexual nature and while probably not offensive to some it may have incurred moderation.

We can debate human hangups about body image and cultural differences about what appropriate or inappropriate images of the human body are in real life but this specifically is about the game.

well yeah, if the rules say no nudity, then thats ok. but i still dont see it offensive

if poeple dont wanna see it thats fine its their choice, i even said i dont wanna see it everywhere its not needed. but i dont think its a majorly big deal by having it there when rules say no...just get rid of it and do best to make sure it doesnt get put up again

and as for what people think of doing when they see it, thats their own problem. at the barebones of it...a naked body is just a naked body. a girl posing nude just like that isnt bad at all. if your imagination goes wild and imagines all these bad things its your fault for thinking of it and going on about how a nude girl is offensive..just cus your imagine went overboard and you have the inability to control it. also like i said, if no body is getting hurt over it its nothing to fear. if people wanna show and post a nude image that is doing extreme harsh things then yeah, itll be offensive and to be taken down. but put aside all that....put aside all the thing it does and just look at it....its a body that houses a brain and is used to make more people....thats its function. that in itself is not offensive. now what we do with it OUTSIDE its function, is a grey area, its offensive to some and not to others...and the more extreme it goes the more get offended. but i wasnt originally on about that too much really. its a body we live in is what i was getting at...a basic nude body isnt harmful. unless you start doing things with it...which people get confused with normal nudity....

so normal nudity, just a body not harming anyone. its used for making love, looking nice, to be studied, its just there = not a bad thing

nudity and many extreme sexual acts, can be distasteful to some and may offend them too. this is what we do with it, not what its really for. to a certain extent it is, we need pleasure. but in this context i think there are better ways of getting it....

so like i said, nudity in itself...isnt offensive. its just a body. and people getting the two confused doesnt help either

and yeah im aware of the games rating, but im talking about how people think its a great evil or something. sure you gotta post within the rules, after all you did agree to them...iv not got anything against that. its just the concept of finding a nude body offensive when it isnt doing anything to harm or do anything bad...that gets me

So...

pornography + 7 year olds is OK in your book? I suppose going down to the local primary school and exposing yourself in front of the pupils is just run of the mill, normal behaviour?

You see nothing offensive about those scenarios?

Just like there's nothing offensive about thrusting sexually explicit material onto kids as young as 7 (and probably younger) over the internet through the medium of computer games...

Because that's what we are talking about here. It's the context. The phrase "there is a time and a place" springs to mind.

On top of that you have the issues of defacing someone else's art and attempting to get their hard work moderated. Which is simply disrespectful in itself.

I'm simply trying, possibly in vain here, to help xegretha understand how our personal opinions on nudity (I'm a big fan BTW), has absolutely no bearing when taken in the context of place that is frequented by youngsters.

The comment was'nt directed at you rtm.

My nephew who's 9 plays the game, and I know people on the forums have children that also play it. For xegretha to say "its fine because they will see it anyway" is way off the mark, and shows quite a bit of ignorance to the whole thing to be honest.

why not? they see enough of it anyway....being born, breast feeding, sometimes washing with parents or something....

as for that whole nude 7 year old comment. i dunno....in a porn media it isnt so great. but in general...again its just a body and nudity doesnt have to be viewed sexually all the time, if a persons brain cant get past that. then they have quite limited thought patterns

but after all i did say a few time. fair enough, if the rules say no, then dont post it. but im also saying i think if it is posted...its not the end of the world and there are much much more worse things to be seen

The comment was'nt directed at you rtm.

My nephew who's 9 plays the game, and I know people on the forums have children that also play it. For xegretha to say "its fine because they will see it anyway" is way off the mark, and shows quite a bit of ignorance to the whole thing to be honest.

and no...no i didnt say that. look at my posts. im saying if the rules dont allow it thats fine, but im also saying its not like its a disaster to see it and there are many many more worse things that peiople could be paying attention to

so if the rules say no nudity and someone posts it...all they gotta do is take it off an warn whoever posted it to not do it again. if they insist on breaking the rules...then yeah ban them or something. but as a whole a nude body isnt a bad thing. its your twisted imagination and you think up what it can do...is

Alright, guys. We understand your views on the topic, but this isn't really the place for this type of discussion.

Firstly, this is an everything else LBP forum, for which the problem has been addressed. There's no need to discuss it further.

Secondly, this site in general may not be the best place to discuss the moral issues concerned with nudity and whether it is/isn't acceptable, etc. This is a family site, and we have to assume some of the content being discussed here isn't appropriate for all members.

Can we take the discussion to PM's if necessary?

May I just jump in here, and pull the topic back...

As someone who's had this done to them, I can only empathise with the situation, Morgana. I'm glad it's resolved, but it doesn't stop it happening again to you, or any of us.

We've had loads of wish-list threads on here, and in one months ago I mentioned that the ability for an author to moderate the images (and even comments) posted on their levels was paramount. Maybe they could be placed in a 'holding' bay until you approve or reject - or even have the option to at least turn moderation on, delete offending images, turn it off.

It's not very nice to have to worry about hard work going down the pan, and I'm a little surprised at the perpetrators.

yeah this will work, i mentioned it and seen other people around the net with similar veiws. like you go into your level on the published earth thing and theres like a new segment to your level. with images that people wanted to popst up on your level. and you can select which ones get on and which ones dont...it saves you getting moderated, and you can if you want be able to send the image to the mods so they can deal with it if you feel such need

i think it would be a bad idea if we could choose which uploaded pics are displayed, i just think they should ban uploaded pics without banning the level(which hopefully they do)2009-10-06 21:00:00

The only problem i see with MrsSpookyBuz's idea is if say the creator leaves LBP, then there won't be anymore pics or comments at all, take the Dino's Island series for example, we even lost Dino's Island one cause of jerks moderating it, and since he's gone, it hasn't been republished.

I'm hoping that something will be mentioned when MM talks about Leerdammer

Yes, good point. But it might also be a good indicator of when a creator HAS left LBP?

Well you do have a point there, but i really don't see why (at that time) he would delete the most hearted level in the LBP community....

I'd totally go for MrsSpookyBuzzz'ssss suggestion. I actually had a similar idea a little while ago. I tihnk she's been outside my house monitoring my brainwaves

The pics on your level are essentially marketing material for your work, so why shouldn't you be able to choose what goes there. Personally I'd probably just click OK on anything that came through, but it would be nice to have the choice.

Just checking back in this morning... interesting discussion!

I'm glad your situation was fixed, Morgana. That was on my to do list today (couldn't access the PSN, or PS3 for that matter, last night) although I wasn't sure which level it was until I read the extra posts.

Has anyone actually ever asked Mm how the moderation process takes place? I'd be willing to follow that up if it's a 'no'.

I'm pretty sure NinjaMCWz or RangerZero had a thread about it at one point. Let me see if I can find it.

EDIT:
Check out RangerZero's post (#9) and Killian's follow up post (#11) on page 1.

Thanks a lot. Why are you attcking me behind my back! I didnt upload any pictures. I cant remenber which one did it, but it was definitely not me. We were just having fun playing the level and had no idea they would upload a the picture.

Sorry Morgana25 for this person putting your level at risk. However the fact that you clicked the thanks icon to the quoted statement above has annoyed me. I think you were just thanking them for uploading a picture to to remove the offensive one off the levels preview box, but it may appear to others that You are pointing the finger at me without any evidence that it was me who uploaded this picture.

I thanked him for posting his pic to remove the offending one. If you'll look closely I never said who did it as I didn't want to call attention to the parties involved. I don't know who posted it of the four listed but I've always assumed the first name is the poster...... I'm going to leave it at that.2009-10-07 06:35:00

I think the first name is the party leader. The uploader is the one standing in the centre of the screen.2009-10-07 06:41:00

Don't act so surprised and hurt...there was a photo of a guy with his willy and balls dangling all over Morgana's level pages, and your name highlighted as party leader. How could you not have known about that? If in all honesty you didn't notice what the rest of your party were up to, then you seriously need to wisen up to the extracurricular activities of those juvenile little toads you've been chilling with. It concerns me though that your more concerned about raging at my post than about making a sincere, heartfelt apology to Morgana, who was the target of your posse's vandalism. Did I perhaps touch a nerve with the SPS comment?

I have yet to see this picture so I can't really comment too much about this too much, only my experience with getting bad pictures uploaded on my levels. Glad everything worked out in the end Morgana! This is really a great community.

No it doesnt. Im at my photo limit and cant take another. I have photos displayed on my profile with my name first the were taken by others when i was the party leader.

I dont what problem Ungreth has with me as ive never met him before. I said sorry for what the person who uploaded the picture has done but your comments about me are far worse..

OK - time out.

I went through my profile pics and it does vary from host to poster. I can't find a reliable pattern in who's name is posted first. Sometimes it's the host, sometimes it's the poster, sometimes it's alphabetical or reversed alphabetical so bottom line is only the person who posted or those he told will know for sure they are the one that posted it. So please no more speculating on that as it really doesn't solve the issue at hand.

My whole point is that this stuff can happen and I think MM needs to be aware of it so we, as creators, can deal with this kind of stuff before it leads to people posting in the grief system.

Thanks for all the support and photos guys - it really has meant a lot to know the community rallied to help me on this. At this point though I'd rather not start the blame game and start a torch and pitchfork mob because the specific incident is done. It's not going to do anyone any good. ok?
