Ballad of the brain-foot slug

Been working on this project for a bit with the help of a friend and my sister, but recently I've been rather busy and he's started grad school, so progress has slowed down alot. The Idea behind the project was to try and make a full-length (or as close to it as possible) game in LBP, to get some experience in making/designing games.

With that said, we're needing some extra help right now. Right now I am the only one with time to build anything, my friend is helping with ideas/play-testing, and my sister is the artist. We're looking for anyone who's a good creator, with time to put in. I can handle most of the complex logic, but if you can make pretty thing with good gameplay/platforming/puzzles that would be great, especially puzzles. I love puzzles and whatnot, but thinking of them is torture . Overall, gameplay is more important to me than making a level look good, as my sister can figure out that part (just not implement it, that's up to you). Should also have a mic.

As for the current scope of the project, we're working on a "demo" version right now, with plans to show it to MM to try and convince them to implement a level-linking system, and some way for information to be shared/transferred in-between levels (something like an emitter tool that when on, will emit into levels you get linked to). If they do implement something, then move on and try to build a full-length version. The game itself is probably most like metroid/ratchet and clank type games, being space-themed with multiple planets you unlock throughout the game, with secret areas and whatnot being opened up as you find and collect new items and powerups. Saving and loading will be handled through a oldschool code system, where players can find saverooms which will give them alphanumeric codes, with load rooms that you enter these codes in to pick up where you left off. These devices are built, and do work.

I'll try to get the storyboards/scripts for the opening and ending cutscenes up later today. And feel free to criticize, ask questions and whatnot, I'll do my best to answer them! Contact me if interested, but please only if you have the time to invest.

none of the platforming levels, but the flying-mini game tutorial is playable (not polished, and the last section of the tutorial isn't done) and a level i used to test the flying combat is playable. The flying mini-game part is kinda like ur-quan masters space battles, if you've ever played that.2009-10-06 03:25:00

Have a level up for people to play, that shows the space flight mini-game thing.

Just search Ambush! by Killer Terek

The tutorial will also be added when I finish it, which should be tomorrow or the day after. Until then, the controls are -

Up + Hold R1 = Forward Boost
Down + Hold R1 = Backward Boost
Right + Hold R1 = Rotate Clockwise
Left + Hold R1 = Rotate Counter-clockwise
Neutral + Hold R1 = Fire Blasters
Neutral + Hold R1 = Fire Homing torpedo

There are also hazards/buffs -

Black holes - tries to suck you in, damages you if you get too close.
Comet/Planets/Moons - Damages you if it you hit them, if you hit them hard enough, they can break guns or kill you.
Minor Enemy Damage Boost - If collected, temporally gives your enemies weapons a small damage boost. Appears as a Yellow Light.
Major Enemy Damage Boost - If collected, temporally gives your enemies weapons a large damage boost. Appears as a Red Light
Minor Weapon Damage Boost - If collected, temporally give your weapons a small damage boost. Appears as a Blue Light.
Major Weapon Damage Boost - If collected, temporally give your weapons a large damage boost. Appears as a Purple Light.
Speed Increase - If collected, will increase your ships speed. Careful, as ramming/getting rammed by objects at high speeds can break guns or kill you. Appears as a White Light.
Full heal - If collected, will fully heal your ship. Appears as a green light.
