Essential Sounds

Archive: 13 posts

Essential sounds. Thats what we need. Know what I mean?
For instance, we could have a gunshot. Not a plasma beam or death ray, just a normal #BANG!#, or the sort of James Bond style #PYEW!#.
Maybe normal footsteps, running water, switch click or a buzzing fly, because, quite frankly, we have all the sounds we don't need, but what about the ones we do?
Nyeah? Whatchoo think...

There's already a gunshot one. (It's in miscellaneous)

I mostly want: Electric guitar, louder bass, other instruments and more animal sounds/ magic mouth sounds.

There IS a gunshot, but it doesn't sound very powerful. I think it should be a more heavier version of it, and maybe some machine gun sound.

RATATATATATATATATA!!!

I would also like guitar sounds, like both electric guitar and accoustic.

I don't know if we have it already, but a howl, like a werewolf howl, would be really cool, and a deep gnarling, a tiger like deep one.

some new elevator sounds would be nice. more insect and bird sounds too.

Also, have you noticed that sometimes you find just the right sound and tone, but it changes slightly every time it's activated. Like the creek sound.. sometimes it's a nice slow creak, and sometimes not.

For a heavy gunshot, you could manipulate the explosion sound.

I would like more instrumental sounds, like a violin or a trumpet.

So many of the sounds are of poor quality it makes me think that this is and always was the lowest ranking priority on the Mm quality control checklist. Noteably... the gunshot really sucks. There are so many BASIC sounds missing... and so many repeat explosion/wind/water/low rumbly storm or rolling rock sounds that it's simply irritating.

I applied for the sound design position, but didn't get it (not that I had high hopes considering I live in Canada). Hopefully the new person at the controls will have some sense of what is truly needed in the way of sound effects for future DLC.
