Is LBP also coming to PSS ?

Archive: 15 posts

Seeing how the Beta will get distributed with the use of PSN.

I don't see why they wouldn't distribute LBP throught the playstation network store.

More money for them right ? I think it's pretty obvious that they should !

As LittleBigMan said, the game is simply too large. It fills up the Blu-Ray disk, and that would be an uncomfortable wait to download it. Plus, it would take up so much room on your HDD that it wouldn't fit on 40Gig consoles, and it really wouldn't be worth downloading. Honestly, I think I'd rather have a physical copy anyway.2008-09-19 23:38:00

Agreed physical copies are better i think. No Hard Drive wasted and you can bring it with you & put it in other consoles.

yea, not the best idea. that would exclude the people who don't have online or aren't able to enter in credit card info. that's a chunk of sales lost. so no, not more money for them.2008-09-19 23:48:00

I think he ment on the PS store AND on blue ray
What i think he's saying is if they can give you basically the full game as a beta on PSN then why can't they produce one for the store that doesn't have all the tutorial vids on it (which is what they are bulking the disc out with mainly)

They said they've put tutorial vids for really everything in the game which is taking up most of the space. If you want to no more about a tool or something apparently they've made loads showing you how they make things to try and inspire people

..LBP was never really supposed to be a PSN title. And it become this big when they decided to give us all those resources to make pretty much anything possible in a 2D enviroment.

We're not talking about a simple platformer. If this had only 50 levels, there's a chance it could be on PSN. However... considering it is that, AND throws tons of objects and possibilities, it does seem rather impossible for it to be able to be downloaded. Yep.

So, in that case, it does seem to have a ton more content then most other disc games- which of course it does considering how flexible the level editor is. Induitably.

Actually, when I went in to preorder at GameStop, conversation opened on the game, and concerning the release date one of the employees was wondering if there'd be a demo. I, being the informed customer I am, answered 'No' and explained there'd only be a beta, and the full game was so large. The manager actually replied that it may be big, but not THAT large. Interesting conversation... But I don't think people even with fibre-optic would have a decent-length download. I mean, 40 gig... (The conversation then settled on how so much of the game would be creating, and so that'd be why.)

Concerning a demo, pretty much the only way it'd go by would be if you had a short selection of costume, one level, (plus maybe a mini-game, maybe two full levels) and a short (maybe five, ten minutes?) time limit on a limited create mode. So you just get a taste, enough to get really serious about buying it (or something to focus your hype into), and maybe get your skills tuned in beforehand, so when you start the full game you aren't just getting used to the controls the first couple levels. (Though mostly create, which has some specific controls, as opposed to the playing, which is pretty straightforward.)
