Karma Sutra - one for the grown ups?

Archive: 8 posts

For all of you grown ups out there, why not try my level 'Karma Sutra'.

It's a very short level and you must have a good sense of humour. So far all of the players have rated it very low, but I assume that is because they take themselves far too seriously.

So, if you fancy a smile have a quick play, heart me please.

You may also like to try my first level - The Adventures of Joshua in Silly Land - feat. Cavern of Farts. It was my first attempt and really just getting the hang of creating and the tools.

I'm currently working on two other levels, one of which I'm hoping is going to get a really big response and have lots of subsequent follow ups.

Anyone played this, any comments for me?

I can't see the number of players increasing so am a bit dismayed to bother creating anymore levels as there doesn't seem much point if noone ends up playing them.

Is there some kind of trick to getting people to play a level?

I tried to call it something I thought would grab attention and also tried republishing on a Friday and Saturday night when most people are playing, but still no joy.

I'm not saying my levels are worthy of thousands of plays, but I have certainly played levels that have two million plays that are total rubbish and offer very little in the way of gameplay or effort ('Fastest Ever Sackboy' is one level that comes to mind that I played on Friday to see what I needed to include).

I'm pretty sure my next effort will take off better than my first two attempts. It's a very simple concept but one that has required lots of tweaking to get working just right so that it plays with no bugs. I just don't want this one to bomb like my fist two did.

Please help a new creator out.

I'll try this up, but I'm not a grown up. And using the word grown up makes me feel stupid.2009-10-04 17:02:00

I'll take a look at this sometime soon.

As for the plays you're getting I know exactly what you mean. I get very few too but I'm not losing any sleep over it. I enjoy making them and if even a few people like them then that's great by me. Yeah sure millions of plays would be fantastic but it's not important. When you see some of the levels that have had that many plays a lot of them are complete rubbish so I don't really want to be associated with them.

In a way it's better not to have too many plays when you make as many levels as I do. I must have made around 50 levels since getting LBP but of course you can only publish 20 so a lot of old ones have had to be deleted. If they'd had millions of plays I'd have been reluctant to get rid of them and make something else so in a way not getting too many plays did me a favour because it allowed me to move on. I can't remember what a lot of them were now though because I'm too busy with new stuff.

BTW did you mean to spell Kama with an R in as a play on words with Karma meaning fate. If not it should be spelt without the R.

Performed a search for "karma sutra" and @Denziloshamen and there was naught to be found for either.2009-10-04 19:03:00

I tried to play your level but I couldn't find. Sry.
But you could leave a comment on a famous level or on my level, so we can find you.

Greetings Anna

TIPP: I think you'll get more plays if you put pictures of your level in your thread.

Hi there - just had a thought... if people can't find it, maybe the level's been moderated and removed? I'm not sure what's actually in the level itself but the title alone would have some parents concerned, since LBP is G rated...

Can I assume you actually know what The Kama Sutra is? Maybe someone has 'good griefed' it? As a mum, it's not a level I'd let my kids play, judging by the title alone. I'm sure there's probably some fun stuff in there, but if it uses any implied sexual content then that's a concern. If it doesn't, people (like me) may just be put off by the title. In that case might pay to rename rather than go for shock value to get plays.

One way or the other, I hope you sort it out, but I think you need a new title. Cheers!

i don't think that the problem is connected with the title.
almost every level in the showcase-section isn't detectable due to the searching-tool-bug.

and, yeah, that thing with the g-rating and the user-generated levels in one game is a problem, but honestly there are a lot of other levels which are problematic... zombie- and mgs-levels for example. even the Mm-wilderness-levels are on the borderline with their army-content.

anyway, a lot of people older than 12 are playing little big planet (the younger ones shouldn't be allowed to be alone in the internet, in any case) and i would like to take a look at the level. maybe it's fun.
