NO! Everything! Gone!

Archive: 12 posts

Okay, I'm not sure if this has been mentioned in previous threads, if it has I'm making a note here to say sorry.

Well anyway I've been meaning to put this up for a while now and I believe that this is a bug. I was playing and decided I wanted to switch to a costume I had saved. Once I hit X the alert noise came on and a little red paint splat thing came up in the corner with a exclamation mark in it. Several of my costumes were like this and I could not access tham at all. I wasn't really that worried. I don't have much custom costumes. The ones that are are merely stickered a diferent colour... I knew I could redo all of them.

Later I was in create mode and I try to access a pernamant switch I had saved, again IT happened.

NOW I was angry. I couldn't redo all of the objects which I saved. It would be nigh on impossible. I got round that fact and had a little weeding out and redid some and I was set to go. Then I realised something. If both my costumes and my objects were corrupted then my pictures might be too.

They Were

Now I have no pictures at all. A part from one that I redid.

Anyone have any ideas?

Also in a (maybe) unrelated note:

I was also working on a level that became corrupted with the 'Failed To Load Level' bug. Coincidence? I think not. I wasn't really that far on in it thankfully but still.:kz:

It's been said enough times now, BACK UP REGULARLY.
This is going to happen to everyone sooner or later, you'd be incredibly lucky to have made it this far without getting some form of corruption.

Hmmm... I mean I've had my file corrupted twice before but this isn't as bad. It's kinda minor. You keep all ypur level progress and what not.

Thanks anyway.

Hmm, yes, I've had this happen a few times. I back up my unpublished levels regularly, but this doesn't sometimes help the costume/sticker/save problem.

It all seems to stem from the times when you have 'Game has diverged' messages or 'Game has disappeared'. Sometimes I get 'Failed to Load' messages when friends are in my pod, only to find that when they go the level loads okay - but the aftermath is sometimes that I lose a costume or custom object (with the red exclamation mark).

And yesterday, I built a full section of a level. I saved it, backed it up on the server fine, and I playtested it fine. I loaded it up on My Moon today, the whole section is gone. I copied the backup back down from the server (which I playtested), and it's the same story - gone.

Yes, backing up is very important and everyone should do it. But sometimes it doesn't stop you losing items, objects, costumes and save progress.

Do you Email Media Molecule when you encounter bugs?

The only thing I hope for is that Media Molecule is aware of those.

Hey MrsSB, if you're in constant contact with Mm how come they aren't fixing important bugs like this that have been around for many months. If you can't get them to fix stuff no-one can.2009-10-02 22:29:00

Yes I figured that MrsSB. Just my silly sense of humour. I think we should all go and barricade their offices until they fix important stuff like this.
And make them fix the LAG, don't forget the LAG.

I'm sure that latest update was like a snake in the mailbox. Everytime I load up since 1.19, I get the corrupt save message. So I exit, back up to memory card, load LBP again, and the corrupt save message is gone. But if I turn on the console again the next day...lo and behold my save is corrupt again! It seems like the updates must rewrite the code, making it interfere with other stuff, but I'm not a tech so I don't really know.2009-10-02 22:51:00

You're really stick to the lag problem are you? lol
Don't you know that lag WON'T be fixed? It's expainable and I did explain it many times in multiple threads. Probably that you don't read or believe me. Anyhow, I don't want you to keep your hopes up and be deceived so sorry if this post is annoying to you. The lag is the like the problems amongst all the game's problems that you have the less chances to see fixed someday.
