| I have an incredibly hard time with pistons. I can't ever get them to work just right. I typically try to use them for rising and falling platorms but whenever I use them and set them to stiff the don't expand or retract. I have since figured out how to do pretty much everything a piston can do with a wench. | Hi, pistons can be a bit tricky until you get the hang of them. Once you do, you'll find they actually work better in many applications than wenches. Okay, I think the main problem you are having is in getting them perfectly straight. If you have them off center a little, they will get stuck, particularly if what you are lifting has close clearance tolerances. The solution is to switch to grid mode when placing the piston and switching to stiff right away, while it's still in pause. One of the main advantages to pistons over wenches is the ability to make lateral motions. Wenches mainly go up and down, plus they be a bit wobbly.
