Single player DEMO or multiplayer BETA? There's a difference. I've not read anything about a single player demo though but I'm going to check it out before I go to bed.2009-09-30 22:31:00

Yep, I just downloaded and installed. It's just the multiplayer beta.

Sorry, nothing to see here, move along.

the annoying thing is, in the store they call it the Uncharted 2 Demo. I didn't read the fine print, I just grabbed and ran. also didn't see any reference on these forums or even on the PS Blog. I must be going blind.

anyway, definitely disappointed there's no single player demo. The game's out in like two weeks, seems to be the perfect time to stir up a bit of extra excitement.

EDIT: Is this for real. This game doesn't support split screen?

I'm getting so unbelievably sick of this. Online gaming is great and everything, but it's KILLING local multiplayer. Why is it common practice now to not even remotely include a split screen option in most multiplayer games? RE5 and Resistance 2 had it, thank god. But it seems to be the exception to the rule these days. Even Fat Princess doesn't support any kind of local multi.

It honestly kills it for me. I'm probably rarely going to bother with Uncharted's multi because of this.

I tried the beta thing and i couldn't find any games to join.

I'm not fussed about the multiplayer anyway, Uncharted's strong point was always the storyline

I really cant be bothered to dig up the relevent news about this but i'm sure they mentioned it would go public on the 29th of september when the second beta was announced months ago.

It takes a while, you have to be a bit patient, and eventually you'll find yourself in a game.

Honestly, I'm not feeling the multiplayer very much at this point. The games fly by really quick, and the style of gameplay doesn't hold up all the time to multiplayer tactics. If you're behind cover and get rushed, for example, suddenly the game's normally-polished controls just won't seem enough. Most likely you'll be taken out with melee attacks before you can unglue yourself from cover and get out of the way. There are very few actual shoot-outs that I've experienced, most people just rush and melee or shoot from the hip.

I know it's a lame excuse, but most games can't introduce local split-screen without having to greatly reduce the graphical fidelity in order to bring the system load to a manageable level. I'm assuming Naughty Dog is squeezing every last ounce of power out of PS3 (in the simplest possible terms), and I know they take pride in the high graphical standard they have set for themselves. I don't think they want to do anything that will compromise the games visuals in any aspect of the game.

I see this totally differently, I enjoy having the full screen to myself.

What made me angry the most was Kill Zone 2.

There was offline skirmish, you can add bots into it..... but no split screen!? Come on!!!

I once brought my PS3 to a friends house to try and play Kill Zone 2 on lan... and we failed miserably.
LBP is still the only game I have on the PS3 that I can play with my friend next to me.... which kinda sucks..... I sometimes i wish i had a Wii....

We can have up to 8 controllers on the PS3! Come on! Make a Party game that supports 8 controllers! PLEASEEEEE

I'm with you guys in the sense that I'm disappointed almost no next gen games are local multiplayer aside from the wii ... which seemed to have the opposite problem, no ONLINE multiplayer games.

I just played a few matches and I like it so far. For the most part the movement is fluid and I enjoyed some of the shootouts I've had so far.

I've had some guys gank me from behind but I guess that's part of the strategy of the game. The only thing that bothered me is "the stage" map, where all the guns are all in one spot. It's kind of silly since then someone can just whore the weapons.

Well, that and I kind of hate matchmaking. Why not a master server list? Maybe in retail...

Don't know why, but I think I got bored of U2.
I got the closed beta day one and public closed beta day 1. But I'm not sure, knowing that my money is gonna get wiped again..

I'll wait for the full game before I go all crazily good at U2 lol.

I'm really enjoying it. I've had a couple of times where I couldn't get a game but when I finally joined one it was worth it. I'm enjoying how the cover system is used but I do fear that it will encourage too much camping.2009-10-01 19:44:00

I see this totally differently, I enjoy having the full screen to myself.

But that doesn't mean that they should take out the OPTION! Resistance 2 may not look as shiny as Uncharted 2, but we're not talking about a split screen solo campaign, we're talking about a completely separate multiplayer mode (which includes 2 separate co-op games!). It can afford to lower the graphics a bit if necessary for split screen if someone wants the OPTION - You can go on just playing online and getting the full graphical capability, and then I can be free to play local co-op.

I just think it sucks that developers aren't even bothering with that option anymore. Doesn't anyone play with actual friends? The Wii is the only system I have that's worth turning on when I have friends over these days. Thank God for Resistance 2, for Calling All Cars, and for Warhawk. And even RE5. Screw Fat Princess. and Killzone. Both of these games have a class-based multiplayer that would benefit hugely with local split screen.
Even Battlefield 1943, which would probably suffer no loss in graphics, does not support it.

It's a deal-breaker for me. it's the difference between maybe turning on the multiplayer two or three times and then calling it quits, and playing it all the time.

Ah well, I too am somewhat disappointed, after all I fell in love with the crappy quad-screen N64 multiplayer.

This game curiously makes me want to play MGO again

3. You chose not to include local co-op due to having to compromise the visuals of the single player. Do you still believe this was the best decision? If we see another Uncharted title land on the PS3, is there a chance we may see the inclusion of local co-op appear in the game?

EW: The decision to not include split screen for Uncharted 2?s multi-player was made for a variety of reasons many of which are technical. Given that we were already adding multiplayer, co-op, cinema mode and a much larger single player adventure to what we had offered in Uncharted: Drake?s Fortune it was a feature that we decided that we just couldn?t include this time. I know that it's a very desirable feature and we?ll definitely look into adding support for it in our engine for future games.

Its a way to get extra money out of the game, how often do you see a game with online multiplayer that doesn't have 2 or three map packs released, usually at $10 each then a slightly cheaper bundle with them all in.

By "makes any sense", I meant within the premise of the game itself Making money and ticking the "online play" box are the real-world concerns of course. It's just that I loved Uncharted, but do you know how many times I caught myself thinking "this game's good, but what it really needs is deathmatch"? Exactly none. I just don't think it fits, or that the franchise needs it. Of course, I haven't actually played this so I don't know

It just seems like people don't take a game seriously unless it has some kind of online play now, so it has to be shoehorned in.

The co-op objective stuff fits in with the main game quite well as its basicly 3 player sections of normal uncharted gameplay but the deathmatch variations and co-op find a treasure and bring it to a chest while being attacked from all angles by ai enemies feel tacked on.2009-10-02 13:12:00

I should point out I have nothing against multiplayer, or even the multiplayer in this game, and I am very keen on deathmatch-styled games. Plus at the end of the day it's a bonus mode, which won't directly impact on the "proper" game, as I see it. And from what I've heard it is fantastic, so I'm sure when the game comes and I've got through the first couple of stages I will be playing the multiplayer, even if it's only to see what the fuss is about 2009-10-02 13:36:00

Yeah, I agree that they didn't need to add in multiplayer. But, hey if it's there, I'll probably play it - at least for a little.

Did anyone else notice the Twitter function? That's something I haven't seen in any other game. I use Twitter on occasion, but I don't know many other people who use it. I could see the usefulness of it though. If I get on the U2 multiplayer, my friends (if I had any on Twitter!) would know that I got on and maybe could play a match or two. Obviously this would only be useful to those friends who don't have their PS3 on at the time.

Apparently, Naughty Dog is removing Twitter- at least from the single player. Better on paper then having a bunch of notifications your friend got a treasure D:

Multiplayer seems to keep itself to one when you start playing, level milestones like 10 and daily earnings. I think single player is being redone to update less frequently.

Thanks for that quote - Here's the segment of interest from the interview:

EW: The decision to not include split screen for Uncharted 2?s multi-player was made for a variety of reasons many of which are technical. Given that we were already adding multiplayer, co-op, cinema mode and a much larger single player adventure to what we had offered in Uncharted: Drake?s Fortune it was a feature that we decided that we just couldn?t include this time. I know that it's a very desirable feature and we?ll definitely look into adding support for it in our engine for future games.

Sounds reasonable enough. Sort of confirms this idea that it's just the standard add-on for a sequel. And then they'll add a bit more on the next one, etc.

So even if you genuinely enjoy the multiplayer mechanics you wouldn't play it at all just to protest no splitscreen support?

Ah well, I too am somewhat disappointed, after all I fell in love with the crappy quad-screen N64 multiplayer.

This game curiously makes me want to play MGO again

Quite the opposite in fact! Not playing the multiplayer as a form of protest would be pretty pointless, especially if it was something i really enjoyed. No, the fact is, I just don't enjoy it without split screen. Most online shooters in fact, I find myself quickly bored if I'm not playing with someone else in the room who I can talk to, joke with, and generally just be with. I've played precisely five minutes of Resistance 2 online by myself. And then I've played about 20 hours of it with a buddy over.

RE5, and even Resistance 1 co-op mode, I never once played through in single player. I did some solo cash grinding in RE5, but never played through the campaign. Always had someone over to split-screen it with. I would even wait until the weekend to continue the chapter if that's what it meant doing.

If a game includes well-done split screen support, I'm going to enjoy it far more, and I'm probably going to play it far more as well.

I'm pretty much addicted to just the multiplayer demo already. I can't imagine how great it will be when the game is finally released! Should I get Uncharted 1 before I get into the story of the 2nd game? I'm afraid that after playing the demo for 2, playing 1 will just feel like less....in terms of gameplay.2009-10-08 16:44:00

Get Uncharted 1. It's VERY story-based, I can't imagine you're really going to be in the loop if you don't play through it before 2.

And don't worry about it feeling like "less" - it' PLENTY!

It's a short game though, so if you like you can pretty easily blast through the thing in a rental.

Should you get Uncharted 1?! I'm sorry but if you own a PS3, you should own Uncharted. I highly recommend playing through the first game before you tackle the second. And I think if you rent it, you'll only want to own it. So my advice is to buy it because it really is one of those 'must own' titles.

Yeah, man, the beta just ENDED! And in the PSN they listed it as "Uncharted 2 DEMO", but when you try to play it you get an "expired" screen. What a crock, man, what a crock.

Anyway, I've been a bad boy and haven't pre-ordered, so I'm going to brave the stores tomorrow and pick up basically whatever happens to be in stock. I'm going to buy one game tomorrow. It's going to be either: Uncharted 2, Demon's Souls, or Brutal Legend. Whichever they have in stock, I'll grab.

If they have more than one in stock, I think I'll probably just relax my jaw and let my eyes sort of half close, not bothering with spit maintenance (thus allowing drool to dribble), and also achieving full relaxation of bladder and bowel controls should the need to relieve myself arise, and remain in this state until the situation resolves itself.

So you're just gonna poo yourself in the store until they run out of stock of two of the games?

It's nearly worth being on hand just to wait until there is one copy of two of the games, and then quickly jump in and buy both, while you're busy squelching your way awkwardly towards the stands

Boy, now that you mention it, that is a very likely possibility.

I figured I'd come out of my trance and just kind of have one game in my hand. I'm not sure exactly how this would come about, I didn't really think all of that through before formulating my plan.

Maybe I should re-think it a little bit?

...

Okay... Okay, new plan, in case they have more than one of these games in.

Open my eyes up really wide, and cease all blinking reflexes for a few minutes. I'll increase my rate of breathing and heartrate to dangerous levels. Then I beat up everyone and trash the store, and spend a minute in a daze looking around at all the havoc. As I become lucid again*, tears well up as I realize the destruction I've caused. Then I get the hell out of there.

*This phase of the plan may also include pooing myself.

Be happy RTM, I'm waiting till the 26th for this as there will be a "get one game, get the other one for -50%" action going on here for all PS3 games.

That is Uncharted and Brutal Legend on top of that at half price.

I want my Naughty Dog fix sooner but I'm controlling myself to save the extra bucks this month.

I have understood that if I buy games from Amazon UK I pay them a lot less, since ? is blasting the pound.
So I have to wait until the post service will deliver the game right here, but I'm saving nearly 30 ?/ 28 ?/ 44$

I could use the spare bucks to pay the cleanings for the shop that Teebonesey is going to mess up.

Going to Gamestop right after work and then I'm having dinner at a friend's. That will most likely occupy most of my evening, but Uncharted will get its fair share of my attention. Going to be a long night for sure.2009-10-13 15:40:00

Then again I'm also getting a PSPgo and I'll want to play with that for a while.

Also, let me know how it is... I am seriously considering getting it, but I'm just so darn cheap I might wait to get it for a gift for my birthday (in December).

See, that's the beauty of having a birthday right after these epic games come out. You can still be cheap and get it in the first week
Also, if my birthday wasn't so soon after the PSPgo released I would have gotten it earlier, before the price drop

So I get these things later but I don't have to pay (well, I'm paying towards the PSP, but meh)

Well this game is officially annoying :/

The heist mission is completely stupid. Uncharted shouldn't have ANY stealth... it's just so annoying, especially when you have an AI friend that likes to get caught.

Is it just me who wasn't keen on the beta then?

I gave the beta about 10 minutes total. I don't think I'll be spending very much time in the multiplayer. Kind of a "sequel feature"... Not really necessary, and doesn't even work that well as a multiplayer game. It's the cover-system, you're used to using it in the solo game, but in multiplayer, you just get rushed and knocked out if you go into cover.

This game's definitely all about the story mode. Sparkling production value, fun story, quality voice acting. This is a game with a SHEEN.

I just picked it up, but I've got to finish up work before i can crack it open.

I saw in the IGN video review that they weren't particularly happy with the stealth mission either. I've never been a big fan of "trial and error" gameplay, and this sounds like exactly that, unfortunately.2009-10-14 01:43:00

Well I beat the heist mission, thanks to IGNs walkthrough, I figured out I had to kill all the gaurds. The only good thing I got from that part was the melee award, because of all the times I restarted

I must say, this game is amazing! The stealth mission is the only bad part, then right after that, it's great!

At one part you find the crypt filled with the many survivors of Marco Polos expedition, and it looks like they all just died of starvation, but then you get a light, and see theres blood everyone, showing they killed each other. This game should've been CSI: Napal

I found something weird, with the whole flashback thing, you finally get back to the train wreck, then it makes you do it again, not that it's hard, but I just found it weird you must do the same thing twice.

Also, that train part was NOT as easy as the demos made it look

Well, I barely managed any playing time last night. Got up slightly early and had about 20 minutes to mess around. Already I'm pleased with the way things look and feel. Seems like a moderate improvement over the first Uncharted and that says a lot in my book; that first game was brilliant. Hoping the good things keep on coming.2009-10-14 13:06:00

I've been enjoying this. The train level really is spectacular.

Actually, that's what this game has going for it more than anything else - the spectacle level has been ratcheted way up. There's way more variety in the settings, and some STUNNING setpieces.

I still CAN NOT get over how incompatible this game's style is to its gameplay. this feels like it should almost be like an old point-and-click. Or at least a prince-of-persia style explorer/platformer. It has a tiny bit of that element, but 80% of this game is one intense, hardcore shoot-out after another.

Seriously, when the huge armored dudes with the miniguns show up, I roll my eyes SO HARD every time. I mean SERIOUSLY?? Seriously. This is happening in Uncharted now. Uncharted is turning into freaking KILLZONE 2 now.

That stuff honestly bugs me deeply. It's so incongruous as to be unsettling, and it takes me right out of the game. I feel like Uncharted, like Bioshock, is another "casualty" of the popularity with shooters right now. This could be a thinking-man's game that emphasizes puzzling and exploring and minimizes brutally, violently killing tons of people while the characters make light-hearted wisecracks. It's just ridiculous.

So I'm pretty torn on this game. The polish is UNBELIEVABLE. The very beginning of the game, when you're walking through the snow, I couldn't believe my eyes. It looked and felt like a real place.
This quality of detail is carried throughout. The lighting is stunning in areas. You want to keep playing just to see what comes next. The locations are absolutely mind-blowing. We've all seen snippets of the train level early on, but what I didn't realize is that what I saw in the video was only a third of that level. If you think those videos are stunning, you haven't seen anything yet.

And moreso than that, there are some incredibly INTENSE sequences. I don't want to spoil what they are, some of them have been demoed before, but playing through them is an absolute blast because they're so frightening, and so intense. If you're afraid of heights, this game may just get to you!

But at the same time, I'm tired of going for headshots and shooting down helicopters with RPGs, and Uncharted really seriously seems like the type of game where I WOULDN'T be tasked with doing this over and over and over again. But there it is.

I love it and I hate it.

Teebonesy, I felt that way about the first Uncharted. As I was playing, my wife even asked "Where are all of these guys coming from? You've killed hundreds!" However, with the sequel, I haven't found myself as annoyed with those scenes. I'm not sure wether it's the level design or tweaks that were made to enemies, but I've enjoyed the shootouts and I've often felt like I'm in the middle of an Indiana Jones movie, shooting and punching guys one minute, then exploring the next. So, I understand where you are coming from, and I've still had a few frustrating moments, but overall I think the gun battles are much improved over the first game.2009-10-14 22:57:00

So, I understand where you are coming from, and I've still had a few frustrating moments, but overall I think the gun battles are much improved over the first game.

I've played the game quite a bit more, and one thing I will say is that they've put a LOT of thought into the pacing of the game. For the most part you aren't dealing with shooting segments that go on "too long" - they'll throw you some long platforming and even a couple of very mellow, laid back exploration areas. So when you end up thrust into another huge shootout, it's been a while since you've had one, and it feels fresh again. So that's something I think they've improved hugely over the first - which DEFINITELY got old for me. Shoot out after shoot out after shoot out, and the later you get in the game, the more constant it gets.

here, there always seems to be variety. You're rarely repeating yourself too much.

but i still feel like these games emphasize the "gears of war" style gunplay more than I'd like - I'd replace them all with a good bit of old-fashioned puzzle-adventurin' if I could.

Oh wow... once you beat the game you unlock the skins, I spent most of my money on a group of them so I could unlock the, (In my opinion) best skin, Skelzor. He is a skeleton with a piece of shredded cloth, red glowing eyes, and a red glowing heart!

My goal is to now get him in multiplayer, which I can only get by getting to level 60 D:

Also, anyone else feel that the Grenade Launcher is really cheap in Multiplayer? It seems to be a bit overpowered and accurate.

Got it yesterday...along Brutal Legend.
Needless to say that Uncharted 2 was stuck in my PS3 and I didn't even open BL's case.

The game is unbelievable to say the least.
I swear so hard because I HAD to go to sleep because today I'm working.
I got past the water tank in Nepal (just to not spoil people), and OMG!
The first chapter is epic in its way, the flame reflections on the snow and the snow itself is just...just too soft...you would like to touch it and feel the freshness.
And though the commands were sloppy, they sort of recreate Drake's "particular" situation.

The stealth mission is very fun, the location is wonderful.
Many were concerned about the lack of freedom in the stealth mission.
Well, I'm not a spy or a thief, but the order you have to follow to take down the guards is logic.
I enjoyed the part where you have to jump from the balcony and take down the 3 guards a lot, since it's very sleek, it's almost a combo, really cool.

The third part was cool but too short, and the end was awesome.

Nepal is just sick, the draw distance is mental, and the temple section is just OMG!!!, the lighting is insane.
And the part where you run "from the trouble" is so Crash Bandicoot-ish that I was going to drop some tears.

Can't wait to get back home...still 10 hours...

Just beat this!

I'm with others here, I didn't have a problem with the stealth mission early on, and in fact you get PLENTY of opportunities to "stealth" your way through many areas in the game, which I always took advantage of whenever I could. Occasionally enemies will magically know you're there, but for the most part they've got some serious blinders on, making it more than do-able to sneak your way through, stealth-killing as you go.

Anyway, final thoughts on this game after beating it, is that it was just unbelievably epic. It's huge. There's such a variety of locations and amazing set-pieces. I don't want to spoil any of it, but I'll just say that I had a pretty good time.

I found this as I progressed last night. Much like in the first game it feels like they are encouraging you to run along cover to position yourself for either a tactical advantage in a gunfight, or position yourself behind someone for sneak attack, or get in close to jump out and rush someone with a combo. Personally the third is my favourite, especially when it's not the most tactically sound :hero: Jumping out into the open, punching a guy till he's dead then having to dive to the nearest cover and then clumsily recovering the upper hand is great fun

And honestly, even if occasionally the game can be frustrating, the visuals are just incredible, it's worth buying just for the landscapes.

I'd say play through the first one. It's probably not necessary from a story perspective, but I got the feeling the opening couple of stages kind of expected you to be familiar with the climbing / combat / cover dynamics from the first. Plus, it's an awesome game anyway 2009-10-16 10:50:00

Trying to not listen to this thread to avoid spoilers, but in the first Uncharted MM was thanked in there too. I think they just thanked every Sony second party... May just be their thang, ya?

Naughty Dog's Neil Druckmann explains the end credit list in a live chat with fans: "We try to be quite open with our technology and our process. We exchanged technology and ideas with other developers. We wanted to make sure we thanked everyone that helped us out in some way."

I just beat this last night and Teebonsey is correct, it's unbelievably epic. I really, really enjoyed it. The last couple chapters are a bit weak and the shootouts start to dominate the gameplay, but overall, it's fantastic.2009-10-16 14:17:00

Yesterday was a fantastic day. Why? Two reasons: 1. I won the local store final for the Guitar Center Drum off, which means I get to advance to the district finals (which obviously has nothing to do with Uncharted, but..) and 2. When I got home I was finally able to start Uncharted 2. I played it for about 35 minutes - I really just wanted to see the intro level - it was really late.

Do not take what I'm about to say lightly. I was blown away! The game is simply gorgeous - no other console game compares (imho). The acting is top notch - especially for a video game (anyone else recognize the dark haired girl's voice? Stargate SG-1 - Vaala (sp?)). The controls were very fluid. One of the first things I noticed (besides the beautiful cut scenes) was the camera. The camera follows you around very well, and the angles it gives you are incredible (especially during the first sequence).

I could go on and on about how great it was, and I can't wait to start it for real today when I get home from work. Let me just say this:

Trudging through the snow never looked so good

I started a thread where you can review U2 without worrying about spoilers, but then questioned myself if this thread ever said 'no spoilers.' I did a quick check on this thread and didn't see any requests specifically saying 'do not post spoilers' - so I decided to take my thread down quickly before anyone posted. So hopefully Teebonesy is ok with spoilers (wrapped with spoiler tags of course). I'll be back here in a few days to give my final thoughts and reviews on this game 2009-10-16 15:34:00

Indeed. Please, keep this thread spoiler free. Let's keep conversation to who's getting/who has the game. Thanks.

We've gone a little bit beyond who's getting the game, but I think (hope) general impressions is OK. Still no spoilers though people!!

And yes, I'm pretty sure snow doesn't even look that good in real life

Just played the first 2 hours now.

I manged to break the game already xD (spoiler from really early on, first proper mission):

In the museum bit where you have to sneak around in a room filled with guards I jumped over the ledge at the start and snuck behind a pillar, took out 1 guy. Jumped into the fountain pulled another guy over the top and killed him.

Next I kept trying to do a pull down attack on that guy facing away from you but it never ever worked. So what I did was go to the stairs with the light guy and timed it so I jumped over the left side of the stairs and killed the guy there. I then proceeded to clear the whole room but those 2 guys + the light guy. Eventually I got confounded on how to do it so I went gung ho and managed to beat it.

Strange this was that my npc buddy was crouching behind a pillar with a guard staring straight at him . I broked it xD

This game is ridiculously good. I agree that the early stealth mission can be frustrating.

Saying how I did it below so don't read if you don't want to know...

I tried pulling the guy over the balcony first time and failed, so I presumed you couldn't do it. Spent ages trying lots of other ways to do only to go back and work out the first way is the right way. There's two guards over to the left of the fountain that are a bit misleading, I kept going taking them out and all goes well which makes you think you're doing it right, when in actual fact you don't even need to go near that side at all.

I guess from that it could say more about me than the game, however if others are struggling too obviously not

Overall I am absolutely loving the little stealth attacks everywhere though.

Knock yourself out! Considering we're ten pages in here already, and this thread began as a "go download the demo" thread, I think we're about due for a separate "spoiler-licious" thread. I'll mark this one spoiler-free, and you can mark yours spoiler-rific.

I just got Uncharted 2 last night and I have to say that my only complaint is having to do the train climb twice. some parts were sooo frustrating, I can't put it down. My PS3 finally froze before I stopped playing. And the best part is they keep throwing stuff at you. When your not being kept on your toes, your brain is aching trying to figure out the puzzles. I can't wait to replay it.

P.S. Play Uncharted first, it adds to the playability and gives the characters more depth. Also the money bonus for having a Uncharted save file.

I got it on Thursday and played for 3 hours. Yesterday I went to a friend after work and let him play the whole thing through while I watched. Started at around 8-9ish and at 1am I was so tired I was on and off for about 3 hours straight. Rumors has it I snored like a pig. Anyways I missed a LOT of the action. We finished the game today and now it's my turn. Cant' wait to play. I missed the trainchase and the whole ice cave sections and stuffff.2009-10-17 16:54:00

Anyone know what the surround sound on this is like? Hopefully by the time I get around to having time to play it, I'll also finally have my Amp back and working, so I'm looking forward to that 2009-10-18 12:36:00

Naughty Dog always polishes their games as much as they can in every department so withouth playing the game I can assure you...the surround will rock.

It even rocked back in the day with Jak II using just Dolby Pro Logic II.

I bet its like the first uncharteds 61/60 treasures, you'll have 100 regular treasures and the strange relic (A precursor orb from Naughty Dogs Jak & Daxter series.)

Got it a couple of days ago and have been playing the hell out of it since... wow.

To be honest, I'd say this beats MGS4 in the "epic game" area, hands down. Because unlike MGS4, it has a very healthy amount of exhilarating gameplay, and the cut scenes don't drag on for hours.

I have been playing Drake's Fortune and I will tell you that my new favorite part of Among Thieves is that you don't have to fill every bad guy with bullets. There is variety, helmets and body armor count to how to take guys out. I love the skull mask guy. He walks in all tough and shoot me, it's great.2009-10-22 14:59:00

So, finished the game on Normal and now I have to go back and work my way through Hard before I can unlock and beat Crushing. Bummer, but it's a great game so it doesn't suck that bad.

Even though I'm not a trophy enthusiast, I could see myself hitting Platinum on this one for sure. I unlocked a bunch of single-player weapons after beating the campaign and want to make sure that by giving Drake weapons via the "Bonus" menu won't affect me getting the unattained trophies. Anyone know for sure? Thanks.

EDIT: Never mind. Looks as if you can't even bring weapons in if you haven't already beaten the game on the current difficulty setting.

Played the demo of Drake's Fortune a few weeks ago and didn't like how much shooting and how little exploration there was. I like exploring.

Is Among Thieves focused more on exploration this time around, like Tomb Raider?

Sadly no, it has less puzzles and less exploration. Mainly shooting.

I've beaten the game on easy. Now I'm treasure hunting on Normal. I spent 5 hours yesterday looking for treasures ... and I'm only at 65! Maybe it's just me, but these treasures are much more difficult to find compared to Drake's Fortune. Although, I can't say I got bored... there is so much action, and so many different ways to complete tasks, that it kept my attention I did begin to skip cut scenes though.

there is a lot of shooting, but the game is longer than the first one, and pound for pound, I'd say there are far more platforming areas than the previous. The game has some fairly lengthy stretches that are more laid back and have zero enemies, and involve lots of climbing, shimmying, lever-pulling, and of course, leaping-and-landing-on-a-ledge-as-it-crumbles-and-then-grabbing-the-next-ledge-at-the-last-second.

Drake's REALLY good at that number. I like to call it "the old leaping-and-landing-on-a-ledge-as-it-crumbles-and-then-grabbing-the-next-ledge-at-the-last-second routine".
