http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/ff297/Burnvictim42/LBP/play.jpgEver played a level where you wished you could just skip to a section? Or where you'd rather not play a section at all? Then look no further! Go through 9 individually themed sections, each with a different gameplay device, play them in any order, or not at all! But above all... just play
all
PSN: Burnvictim42
Level Location: Central Asia
(you might have to search for my username due to the recent search bug)

Spin, Fly, Sticker, Sneak, Boss, Puzzle, Swing, Climb, and Jump your way through 9 different locations. A unique teleportation system lets you choose which section to play next, when you want to leave it, and where you go when you're done. You can literally play this level thousands of different ways.

At heart this level is a score challenge of sorts, each area has a race gate, as you try to finish each section in the best time possible. There are also a few "achievements" which unlock extra score bubbles at the beginning, so if you're aiming for the top, you may wish to turn your prizes on. As its a score challenge, i'm also hosting a contest at this thread: https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=p=300576#post300576 Have fun and good luck with that! Extra score goes to all LBPC members by using ConfusedCartmans LBPC sticker.

Here are a few pictures from my forays into the level:

Umm, I hope you realize you shouldn't of published it yet. I'm leaving you a message in PM of a major problem I found from today's playtest.

EDIT: Burnvictim has fixed this, so everything is fine now.

Actually, I noticed this problem less than an hour ago after you published the level, which means it's still there. Hopefully no one will run into the 'paintinator not coming out' problem on the boss.

Anyways, this is an excellent score challenge that I think people will like.

Just tried it for a short while

Well, I must say it's a really nice level.

I loved the custom art you put into this, there are some nice objects in here and scenery

Will play this one more extensively tomorrow as I lost my internet connection while playing, but so far I really find it's very good !

F4F pick one of my subject levels , thanks!

I had the high score, but then I just realized I was playing the wrong one when you mentioned it to me. I didn't know you published the level seperatelt from the testplay one. I thought you were just going to publish it unlocked after all of the fixes, but not seperate. Luckily you mentioned it as soon as you did because I had high score on it and was working for it, only to find out it was for nothing, lol.

Anyways, I went to the real one and re-claimed my high score. It will be fun competing for high scores on this.

Pros:
-Teleport system is great, including the option to complete any sections you choose to in any order you choose to.
-The achievements system is really nice also.
-Excellent scoring system/score challenge.
-Visuals are nice.
-Gameplay is nice with excellent variety.

Cons:
-None I think, although I wish there was a way to skip the intro for those that have already seen it.

I gave it :star::star::star::star::star: and a heart.

Wow... uncanny! I hear this about my levels all the time. But I thought I already invented that in "Destiny!". It's called "KILL THE PLAYER TO THE NEXT SECTION" technology.

Just kidding... this looks really intriguing. I'm playing it this evening!

Do you mean you've been pulling that intro lever every single time? I put that in specifically so the player didnt have to watch it.

But if you don't pull it you won't get the best starting score possible since the assistant doesn't come down with the prize bubble until after you see intro.

I love this level - very original, tons of cool things to do - I've only gone through a few of the areas so far, but it's great... gonna play more in a bit.

Couple things:

1. The word "Recommend" is spelled wrong near the beginning.

2. One thing in gamplay that seems to be a bit inconsistent - and this is TOTALLY subjective, not really an issue but something to think about. The game obviously is geared towards people with a bit of a short attention span that may want to try many different pieces of the level to rack up a nice score.... however, the fact that many of the areas are difficult challenges where if you die you go all the way back to the beginning could be a con for many players that would enjoy it. Maybe think about putting a single checkpoint on the challenges right in the middle so if you get that far you don't start all the way at the beginning. Just a thought.

5 stars and a heart - the design is certainly not a con for me and I enjoy the challenge. Great job!

Oops, i guess i can't spell all that well Thanks for that.

As to the difficulty... i wanted to give a challenge, nothing too drastic, but a challenge nonetheless. 5 of the sections have some sort of halfway mark, the other 4 do not... but frankly it was hard to work into the design. I do make sure that there are safe spots though, so you don't have to be constantly moving all the time. Adding in extra checkpoints requires adding in a lot of extra logic for getting rid of said doors... and i don't have the space unfortunately (I'm about maxed out on 3 thermometers).

Thanks for the kind rating, i'm frankly surprised its kept a 4 star for this long.

EDIT: I'm not sure which level I played - from reading the posts above, apparently you had the 'test' level and a newly republished level? I think I may have played the test level (although the paint gun was fixed.. so maybe I played the right one?).

(I'm about maxed out on 3 thermometers).

umm?

Ok, anyway, I 'just played' this yesterday - here are my thoughts after 'just playing'

Pros:
- The gate system is superb - I love being able to choose where to go next
- The overall design is good, and definitely fun
- I like how each level focuses on one particular element of gameplay
- "Just Play" has a very high replayability level

Sneak Level - Very MGSish, and very fun. I liked how it wasn't incredibly long

Boss Level - I like how the boss has a few different modes, and that he is not impossible to beat without dying. The limited paint balls is a nice touch too, it keeps the player moving. Minor Con: The big tree on the left where you start this one, you need a bigger brown sticker for the tree trunk

Puzzle Level - This one is great. You are forced to use everything at your disposal, and if you think really hard, you will eventually get it Minor Con/Suggestion: Maybe add a small spot light so the small pathway can be seen better - I didn't notice it until you told me about it.

Rocket Pack Level - Your thumb needs to be precise here! I like how you have to keep going back through the maze in order to progress, rather than hitting a switch and progressing right from that point. This one is great because it makes you want to complete it as fast as possible, but if you lose your focus for one second .. zzz pop! Minor Con: I felt that the camera angles just before you get the rocket packs could be tweaked a bit more.

Swinging Level: 'Just Fun' with a well balanced challenge!

Jumping Level: I liked how you made it challenging without making ridiculously small platforms to land on

Sticker Level: This is the one where you have to use a sticker to move the red gas. I liked how the red gas was on a timer - it made me feel like I had to hurry. The whole concept of pushing those blocks was a cool idea, and I like how you use them to end the level.

Swing Across with R1 Level: This is the short level where you have to swing across on those things that look like hot dogs (probably not hot dogs, but that's what they reminded me of!). This is another well balanced challenge. No complaints here!

Hmm.. one more.. what was it?

Oh well, maybe someone else can say something about the one I missed?

Cons:
- There is one more minor issue - sometimes when I complete a level, not all of the "done" signs appear. I think there was two different occasions where I was missing at least one done sign.

Overall:
- The gate system amazed me - WELL DONE!
- No big issues to report - solid and polished level
- HIGH replayability
- Extra point rewards
- Humor
- Great custom designs
- FUN! What more could I ask for?

5 :star:'s

Consider me prepared I guess i'll have to go through another massive run test... i thought i'd found all the done signs. They're a pain as i have to go through the level 9 times to find them all haha.

And i updated the test level, the real one is the one with 300+ plays thats currently sitting on cool pages 6 (at least last time i checked)

I noticed the same bug with the done sign, though I find it very minor. It showed a blank yellow space for the boss done on mine, but after going to next area from area I noticed this in, they all said done and no blank yeloow space on boss done anymore.2009-10-01 18:00:00

OMG what a cool job.
I scored very lame since I had to play the level in 3 times, but I found it really cool.
I loved how you twisted simple platforming, especially in the rotating wheels section.
I didn't manage to solve the section in the factory and I broke the puzzle section, but I'll try those two section later, since it was my fault.
Maybe the grappling section was too short and too easy, but really well done.
Maybe in some points it's a bit bland, but you put really a lot of stuff in it.

The teleport on the waterfall climbing didn't work and I respawned in the dark, so I had to suicide.
You may want to take a look at it.

Really really lovable level with funny characters.
5 stars and a heart.

Hi BV42!

Played this earlier, and had great fun. Love the options of playing in any order/quitting/finishing etc. Very considerate to a lot of different player types. Well done.

There is lots of variety within the different sections with lots of challange! I managed to only complete 4 challenges, but I will definately return!

I loved the puzzle area - very taxing. Every time I dropped in there, I got squished at the bottom. No biggie, but I had to move left or right in the air to avoid dying.

Overall, great fun and as I said, lots of options for and consideration of the player. Nice.

5*, heart, tagged with 'Satisfying'.

Me and ChristmasJew just played this 2 times. We encountered the same problem both times, and it's game-breaking or level-breaking, whichever you want to call it.

I don't know if this only happens when it's more then one player, but it seems completely random.

1st Run-Through

We played through 3 sections, when we tried the 4th, we teleported, but the room was filled with gas. And the checkpoint had disappeared, so we got the "You have run out of lives! Try again!" option.

So we tried again and...

2nd Run-Through

We beat every single section, we were about to play the very last one we needed, and same thing happened. Of course I didn't really want to play them all again, so we left. Sorry.

Again, no idea why this happens, but from the posts above, it seems everyone had a nice run through when alone, but with others the level seems to have a problem.

5 Stars and a heart nonetheless. Good job!

I really hope this level makes the next Spotlight. The concept, versatility, and replayibility make it superb, and the visuals are good considering the focus made on the gameplay and level design. Visuals could always be better, but then the gameplay would of had to been reduced to make room. So I think the balance is perfect.

Trust me when I say this from lots of experience, never ever rate a level from a multiplayer run. Because it is a fact that levels are known to act strange and do strange things sometimes when playing multiplayer. Just today willtang1134 and I played some extreme platformers together and every level we played was acting very weird, and even he appeared to be doing things not normal, but I don't think he noticed, though it can show for both players. I'm not sure whether that can happen playing alone in his level since I have never had that problem solo in his level, but I'm just mentioning the multiplayer thing.

As you can probably see, I didn't rate it low at all I gave it a 5 stars, I never rate levels due to things that shouldn't of happened, the level is aimed towards 1-Player and I understand that. Don't worry.

This is a ridiculously entertaining level. Not the prettiest or least annoying I've played but a ton of fun. I like all sections and the tundra jump challenge was the hardest for me. Although the boss killed me a lot and really drained my score on my first full playthrough. Good difficulty of all sections. Very impressive how you have intentionally incorporated ways of boosting our score by strategizing to avoid some deaths.2009-10-02 00:54:00

I never said you rated low. Lol.
I was pointing out that if you're wanting to check a level out your first time and see it the way it was meant to be (assuming it's not a multiplay only level), then playing solo is the way to go until you've seen it. Of course this doesn't matter unless you plan on rating.
I was sort of thinking that post might have been misunderstood, and I was right, which is my fault since I don't always word things the best way.

The entire level can be aced, not counting the teleport deaths.

This sounds like a poblem with multiplayer, which is something i would be unable to fix unfortunately. I've always known that multiplayer lag could create issues, the timing on some of this stuff can get fairly tight.

I've also been unable to create some of the same issues others have been having... which bothers me as i really would like to have a bug free level ;p

Thanks for your kind words all, i appreciate it.

Hey, I finally got a chance to play the release version. I like many of the changes you've made to the level since I tested it last. The wheel fling area looked much better. I made it through on like the third try. I played all the levels but the ice one (as it got me every time in testing). I'll give it a try when I play it next.

I had a few issues with the jetpack section. I was annoyed that pulling the switches sometimes caused you to touch the walls. Can't you put it on the ceiling so you pull it sideways away from the wall? I just had 2 cheap deaths from just trying to pull the switches. Also, the camera angles at the jetpack pick-up locations seemed to be different from the early level. It seems to be at more of an angle.

Other than that, everything looked good. I didn't break the block puzzle this time, so that's good. I think the length might be a turn-off to some, even though they can end the level at any time. It's not an issue for me, but it was quite long, lol.

Anyways, good stuff. I am sitting in 4th place overall, so I hope to make a run at your contest.

Yeah, he fixed the block puzzle issue after we all mentioned breaking it.

As for the switches in the jetpack area, all you do is get above them and push the lever down. You'll never get shocked and you don't even have to grab the lever. I hope he doesn't change this. They are faaar from a cheap death, not even a regular death unless you mindlessly zoom in there full speed without minding the ceiling. I use to have the same issue you mention with the levers in early playtesting, but then figured out the coreect way to push them down.

As for length, I am baffled at this. The level can be as long as you want, so I didn't get this.

And good luck on your run at the contest.
No sarcasm is intended by that. I'm being serious, like a friendly good luck.

Once I get around to playing more I hope to improve my score, which means I'll have to ace the level, or close to it.

EEKEEK! I thought I left feedback yesterday, obviously not :/

So I will do so right now! First off, excellent idea having multiple optional segments, I'll start with the pumpkin boss...

A challenging boss nontheless, and I like the contrast of themes as well - the evil, sadistic sun-pumpkin reeking havoc in a nice garden level with pretty flowers. Yaaay! Limiting the number of paintballs was a good idea, and I liked the fact that a snail brings you more ammunition. I thought that was hilarious, however, people have no sense of humor anymore, so perhaps you could speed up the snail?

Now, onto the puzzle, holy crap, it's a win! Really hard yet so much fun, I didn't really care about the race, just cared about solving the puzzle. Well done

Okay since I don't have much time, let me just say that the stealth mission is crazy hard and I haven't completed it yet, the jump challenge is addictive yet rather challenging, the jetpack is awesome aaaaaand...Well, the construction yard I have yet to finish.

I'll try and post more, I think I'll go on a bit too much though so let me just say that I loved it, but I gave it one star, tagged frustrating, and said it needs more infinite lives

Haha, thanks korn. It seems my levels been a bit of a hit or miss, as its averaged down to 3 stars Thanks for the 1 star rating ;p

As an update, ive tweaked a few of the emitters, so hopefully this fixes any non-teleportation problems people have been having.

I can't believe someone would rate it 1 star.

@Korn:

You really think this is one of the worst levels you've played in LBP? 1 star is for the worst of the worst since that's the lowest rating you can give it. Like ChristmasJew said, I'm stunned. 0_o

Finally you were on the LBP-radar again and I could play your level.

First of all: The teleportation-system is great. I have no clue how you did that.
I like the whole concept. You did a great job.

You have three pages full of detailed feedback here so I'm gonna make it short:
There are three things I have to say: First, the teleportation-thing broke down when I wanted to return from the factory. I just stood there in the dark factory. Haha.
Second thing is what CCubage said before. It just doesn't fit to your concept that the levels are "checkpoint-free" and rather difficult. Players who want quick fun will leave your level if they die a few times.
And the last thing is just my personal opinion (Yes, I'm an advertising-*****, without talent for gameplay, but I have much to niggle about visuals): I think you could have put a little bit more love in the shapes of the storytellers. Their faces always look the same - a little bit southparkish. But that's just peanuts.

Overall I'm very impressed by your level.

Greetings, Anna
