***IF YOU ARE HAVING TROUBLE FINDING ME OR MY LEVEL, I POSTED A COMMENT ON "Burnvictim42"'s LEVEL CALLED "Monster Brain Tech demo"***

Hi, this is my first level... but I put a lot of time into it so I hope you enjoy. There is a story, but it's not the focus of the level. I didn't want to have that much talking. It is somewhat short, but there are many hidden (useful) prizes and little areas. I tried my best to position the point bubbles strategically so you scoreboard guys are gonna find that there is a lot of replay in this level. I have done countless playtests on my level so hopefully there aren't any bugs or glitches. The thermometer has been completely maxed out... and I think that's primarily due to my obsession with detail, and getting everything to look right. I hope that comes across as well.

Hearts and tagging would be great! F4F!

I also tried playing this level, and was unable to do so. Recently, there has been a search bug which makes it particularly hard to find new levels. Since this is your first level, it makes it hard to find your profile as well

Like hollywood234 said, if you can leave a comment on a level of ours, we can locate you by following the comment. I'd love to play this level, it looks very well done for a first level, so i'd appreciate it if you could just leave a comment (you dont need to play anything, i just need a link to your profile) somewhere i can find it.

Okay I posted a comment on "Monster Brain Tech demo" by Burnvictim42. Hollywood234, I tried finding you and commenting on a level of yours also but had no luck. So for now, if anyone wants to find my level look at the comments section of Burnvictim42's level. If there is any way I can make finding my level easier, let me know. 2009-10-01 20:49:00

Okay, just played it.

Some nice clean designs, and fun characters. I dont know why, but the dandos' head bobbing just puts a big grin on my face.

At the second bridge, you can see the dissolve. Heres a good way to hide it: Sticker it white and then use a shrunken "sackboy symbol button" decoration to make it look like a bolt. By hiding the dissolve it'll come as more of a surprise when it dissolve. A nice wood break sound would be nice here as well.

Sounds are something i feel are a bit lacking at times... just a few environmentals like a gust of wind might make it a little better.

The boss was pretty cool, i loved how you used the smaller enemies as part of it I didn't entirely like that blue gas attack though... the first time it hit me it felt like a cheap death.

Overall this was a pretty darned good level, especially for a first one! I gave it 4 stars, and the dando king made me hand over my heart as well.

For F4F would you mind checking out "Just Play"? Link is in my signature.

just played the level! It was great

the thing i loved about it the most was the boss. Very cool design and original gas attack, i loved it. Though you could add variation in the plasma patterns it seemed unavoidable at times.

The platforming was ok, kind of used the same ideas as in the Mm levels, but it was still enjoyable.

also if your interested in getting more plays and attention to your level i would suggest this thread - http://forums.littlebigworkshop.com/lbp/board/message?board.id=promozone&thread.id=26893

it helped me out a ton.

Burnvictim,

Great idea for the second bridge. Its funny that I didn't even think of coloring that dissolve material. The shrunken sackperson symbol was a good idea too but that gave me an even better idea. I just took that little colored piece, deglued it, move it away from the bridge, added a bolt to it and then glued it back to place. So basically the bolt now looks like its supposed to be there, but actually does nothing. I tested it out and it still dissolves like its supposed to.

I'm glad you liked the boss, for the most part. I don't think very experienced LBP players will have a problem with him, but I've seen some of my friends have a tough time playing against him... So I decided to go with the infinity checkpoint there. Plus, I figured that it would suck to die right before the end. I'm playing with the idea of making the boss into a 2-stage fight... but with the way he's designed right now, that might be hard to pull off.

I'm glad you got a kick out of the Dandos design. I liked how they turned out.

You're right about the sound effects. I wanted to at least add a couple wind sounds during the airship portion... We'll see about other spots. Expect an update (1.3) by tomorrow.

Now, on to your level...

I really like levels that try new concepts. So your level was a lot of fun (and very challenging, might i add) for me.

A couple of things... the switch on the wall by the "FINISH!" made me think it was actually used to finish the level, at first. So being little confused, I hesitated to pull it. Maybe I'm just slow.... but if u want an alternative, you can just use a switch thats triggered by the player, so the glass automatically just goes down once they're in the room. Just a thought.

In the puzzle room, I wasn't able to use the "quit" function. The screen just went black for a while. I had a similar experience in the waterfall room, it went black for a few seconds, and it sounds like i died twice before teleporting. In the ice / jumping room, i'm able to jump over the smaller ice pieces and jump on each of large "snow covered" ones. Don't know if u care, but i figured i'd mention it. One last thing, in the 2nd platforming section in that room, considering making that falling snow ball non-lethal. I think it might be more interesting if it just bumped you and got in your way then kill u instantly.

I liked all of the different themes you used for each section. It kept the level fresh and interesting for me. I wanted to see all of the rooms, no matter how epically I was failing at them, haha.

So I gave ya 4/5 stars + a heart. Neat and well-executed concept. I found some of the rooms to be a bit tough and frustrating at times though.

Hey Holly, just played your Pirates! level.

Overall, I liked it for the most part... and I have a soft spot for pirates. But then again, who doesn't? Anyway, here are a couple things I'd like to comment on...

I liked the under-water portion quite a bit. However, it was a little tricky getting back onto the raft. And I found one of the enemies directly below the raft to be knocked over before I even had a chance to kill him (or be killed by him, for that matter)... You might also want to change the switch from the red button to a pull-lever, that way its usable with the jet-pack... or should be, at least. Also, before u fall into the water the second time, if you jump far enough, like right before that closed gate, you can fall into a hole where you're trapped. I had to pop my sackboy back the the checkpoint because i was stuck. The last thing I'd like to add is about the cameras. There were a lot of them, and a lot with some crazy angles... try tweaking some of the zone settings on some of them. Overall, I liked where you're going with the level but i think it needs to be tested more. I suggest getting a friend or two and have them play the level WITHOUT you. Just watch (try not to guide them through) and see how they react to things, where they get killed a lot, etc. This will help you see where your level may need a little work.

And thanks for showing me that thread. I'm sure it will come in handy!
