Hey! I'm looking for free classic eBooks to put on my iPod Touch so I can read them offline. By the way, don't say Encyclopedia Britannica because I already have that on there | 2009-09-29 01:55:00 Author: Sunrise_Moon Posts: 469 |

DEFINITELY pick up your books from the "Project Gutenberg" section. They're all free, and you pretty much can't go wrong. Walden by Henry David Thoreau is one of my favorites, but I should warn you that it's pretty slow-going in the beginning. Ever read Paradise Lost? This is an amazing achievement, an Epic Poem written in English, that tells the tale of the fall of Lucifer, followed by Adam and Eve's exile from Eden. If Epic Poems are your thing, be sure to check out The Odyssey and the Iliad, both by Homer. this is the essence of "classic literature". Looking for something a little more fun? The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. One of my favorite books of all time, A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens. If you want something lighter check out Oliver Twist. Want some classic sci-fi? The Invisible Man, The Time Machine, and The War of the Worlds, all by HG Wells. O, how about 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, or Around the World in 80 Days, by Jules Verne? Ever been curious about Kafka? If he's your thing, try The Trial or The Castle. Don Quixote by Cervantes, though this might be a long one to read on a tiny iphone screen. Get into the Halloween spirit with Dracula by Bram Stoker! GK Chesterton's got a sharp wit, try The Man Who Knew Too Much, or The Man Who Was Thursday. Project Gutenberg is a veritable treasure trove of classics. They're classics for a reason too - You really can't go wrong. Scroll through it and if you see anything you've heard of and are curious about, give it a read! | 2009-09-30 21:32:00 Author: Teebonesy Posts: 1937 |
