Ghost of Sparta - The Depths of Hades

Archive: 27 posts

The second part of the god of war inspired levels. I've had about 5 different ideas for this one and I've been building for about 10 hours on them but I still didn't like them enough or they sucked up the thermometer too fast :| Now i?ve finally made some progress and im at about 70% of making the level

Here's a list of stuff I could put in, please reply with a post saying the three numbers you find most important in the level The top three will be used in the level for sure.

1. Hidden Chests with bubbles
2. Hidden Chests with prizes
3. Mini-Boss Battles (Cyclops in the previous chapter)
4. Big-Boss Battles
5. Simple puzzles
6. Harder puzzles
7. 2,3,4 player puzzles
8. Standard enemies, Spartans, Ogres, Snakes etc.
9. Use of a weapon
10. A ride

Thanks in advance

EDIT: The ride is done, it took some time to think of a ride GoW related but I found one This chapter will probably have nothing to do with the previous one because I'm going to make my own god of war story from now on. This one will take place in the underworld, here are the first pictures!

Hello my friend

May I suggest 3,4 and 10?

The more boss battles the better as I feel GOD OF WAR is all about boss battles.

I don't think a ride fits well in the god of war level, some harder puzzles can be nice. however if you choose to do this i would suggest a hint box to help players who get stuck on harder puzzles to avoid frustration.

a part i d love to see recreated was the hydra battle from god of war 1, very epic and also the part in the beginning of god of war 2 with the colos would be nice if possible.

greetings

Excellent! Of course, you had the first three in the previous chapter so why not add a couple of co-op challenges as well? Perhaps a standard puzzle, and an optional hard puzzle can be thrown in as well as a secret. I dunno, up to you

As for the ride...Holy! Like to see that one pulled off too

At the moment I don't have a story yet, im trying to think of something original instead of copying the exact story of god of war. If anyone knows a good storyline you know who to tell

As for the ride, im thinking about a flying scene on pegasus.. this was in God of War and it was epic, hopefully I can make it

Good idea Korn, making the hard puzzle optional is great.. otherwise people might get frustrated :

Oh and nightwing, i was working on the colossos battle in the beginning of Gow2, I actually made the whole thing with the 3d glitch it looked epic but I couldn't let it move in the extra layers so I gave up. Should have thought of that before i started

Just don't do #1 and #2 they have been done countless times before and are really just getting old, it seems like everyone does it.

As for #9, unless you are actually going to do something really cool, I wouldn't bother.

I'd say 4, 8, and 9. Also, I have a Warrior-type monster I could give you.2009-10-06 16:23:00

Just "Hades (place)".

It's probably best not to go mixing mythologies ... unless you want to do so intentionally. They are very distinct myths, and I think equating the two might gives a false idea of how Hades (the place) was envisioned by the Greeks. While there's no doubt that the Judeo-Christian idea of a hell was partially developed-from/influenced-by/based-on the Greek idea of Hades, they are distinct.

Hades (the place), is full of mist and fog - and it's not a location that some ghosts go based on judgment by any supernatural being, it's the place where all the spirits go. So anyone who is dead should be there - perhaps any already deceased characters you wish to reference?

I would say that, if it was me, and I could somehow encounter the mystically disembodied intelligence of any Greek, it would be Socrates. Again, like many people from far earlier periods of time, there's little evidence I'm aware of that he actually existed, but regardless, someone thought up the words attributed to him, and that is someone I would want to meet, whether he be named Socrates or not.

However, since I'm in "Hades", let's just make it "Socrates".

However-however, if you want to strict more strictly to characters directly tied to the main narrative of Greek Myth, but don't have a dead character whose already entered your narrative that you want to reference, some interesting figures might include people such as Achilles.

Thanks for the help Jagrevi, I think i've got the right scene for my level, its full of mist and fog and there are some ghosts flying around. Putting in a greek figure most people know is pretty interesting, Achilles and Heracles (Hercules in roman mythology I think) are probably the ones most people know.

You should really take a look at what i've got at the moment because you sure know way more than me about the greek mythology

Is it unlocked or somewhere I could play it without needing to match up times with you?

Some time has passed, how are things going?

Not well I don't like my theme anymore so I stopped working on it.. I've been working on a new project (The picture I've send you was from the new one), but for some reason I keep quitting levels because I don't like them anymore.. maybe because I test them too much and try to find every bug/visible logic possible.. I've had the same with Ghost of Sparta One but you kept me from quitting it. Im kind of stuck now because the new project isn't exactly what I wanted to make..

I think the problem is that I can never think of a good story for a level, I just build something and try to think of one while making the level. Maybe someone could think of a cool story for me?

I've got much things to do for school at the moment so im not planning to finish this level any time soon

that's a pity, I really liked your first ghost of sparta level.

Hope there will be a second one someday, just let the inspiration come to you.

A good tip is stay away from LBP for a few weeks, you'll notice that the desire to create will come back

You know, I would say that you won't have to go far to complete this level - the way you've structured it and (I'll try not to give anything away) what you have planned shouldn't take so long, and honestly, I think the level's highly entertaining. Just try and keep the thermo low :s

It may kill you.

Here are the first pictures, the thermometer is at 70% and I still need to add some obstacles and ofcourse the boss I hope the thermometer is letting me finish this the way I want and not make the level too short like the last one :

Sent you a PM about reaction to the playtesting. I'll send you another one later today with another, different critique of another part.

Overall though, it's coming along great.
