New Glitch? Invisible Matter, thick layer can be as big as you want

Archive: 16 posts

It's weird I was toying around with an impact switch and bendy wood (see level by same name) and for some reason there is invisible matter. It is on the thick layer. You can make it as big as you want it and it won't become visible. New glitch? If you want just tell me and I can give you a copy of it. It was lying around in loads around my level and I randomly found it when highliting an object.

Edit: Sackboy can't walk through it.

Is it stickerable?
Also, if you copy the object and try and connect it, is it still invisible?

Sorry, a bit curious here

Well I just found out that sackboy can't walk through it. I thought that he could and then I re-tested it. Snowyjoe I will test those next time I get on LBP.2009-09-25 04:25:00

I don't know if it was made the same way... but, this might be what you're talking about:

I don't think so. I was playing with a newly created impact switch and it was destroying a lot of stuff...I'm pretty sure that isn't how it happened.2009-09-25 05:04:00

Does it matter if you made it the same way? Surely it's easier for everyone if we just point them to dex's post that explains how to reproduce it from scratch. I don't mean to be rude, but this is like the third time someone has brought up this same effect and says it's different to dex's, even though they can't reproduce it and have to manually send to everyone. I honestly don't understand...

Also, if you "send it" to people they can't editi it to the shape they need. Please, please explain to me the benefit of this?

A thick layer, i got some stuff thats thin but never heard of a thick layer, can it take up all three? or be made grabable?? i once made any-layer-thick invisible sponge but it became visible once it was bigger then sackboy and no switches could be connected to it for some reason2009-09-25 20:25:00

I've encountered this behaviour with connector endpoints. Deleting things in the wrong order leaves one endpoint 'alive,' but it's completely invisible.

If you can change its layer size, it's not an endpoint, but that's what it sounds like.

You can't edit it. It may be piston matter, but I didn't use pistons in this level. Only springs. And the invisible matter was only where I was playing with the bendy wood. I can't change the layer size, but it can switch layers. The pieces of matter are only about as big as a small grid before I change their size.2009-09-25 21:06:00

Springs are what does this the most for me. That sounds like you have a loose spring endpoint.

Springs.....
You do realize springs fall in the same category as pistons, so it can pretty much be piston matter, even if its call that, it can be made from rods, springs and such...

Yeah, that's why I mentioned piston matter. Besides, whenever the on impact switch I was toying with hit the ground and exploded, I heard a breaking sound which was possible the spring. But then again the springs were being emitted, so the spring matter should have disappeared after like 5 seconds so it was probably from the bendy wood.2009-09-26 03:47:00

You'd be surprised how often little bits of things can be left behind from emitters.

I forget how exactly to create 'connector matter,' but it's very consistent and it involves the breaking sound. That is, I intentionally broke (something) and it resulted in a bit of 'connector matter.' Once I figured out how I did it, I was able to make as much connector material as I wanted.

That said, I rather like using big chunks of invisible dark matter instead of connector. Easier to work with in my experience. Probably less prone to exploding randomly too.

Now a similar thing happened to me a while back:
I had this little level that I messed around in, I was playing with a bunny I made when suddenly I realised I had just unlocked the terrible oni. I placed it in the level to see what it could do. Then I thought I didnt like the chap very much so I changed him to polystyrene and dropped a few bombs on him. I did this several times rewinding and changing the amount of bombs I used until I got bored and deleted his charred corpse. Later I made a trampoline and jumped on it. I thought "Hmm... I wonder how high I'd bounce if I dopped all the way from the top of the level." So I posisitioned one of those thin rulers, flew all the way to the top of the level and then dropped. To my surprise I didn't fall on to the trampoline but instead on to an Invisible platform. I thought it might be that dark matter/rubber glitch even though I didnt remember using any of that in my level. I continued walking along the platform and fould it went accross the entire level. I also found it was one way aswell, as in, I could use my trampoline to bounce up through it, but then couldn't get back down.

Anyway story finished phew
