Heyyyy everyone,

ive had LBP for about 2 weeks now, i found the site lbpforum.net, then found this one... This site seems more active and resourceful, so i registered!

Looking to make new LBP friends, to roam around with, and hang out.

Am currently working on my first build.

Beginner's mistakes I'd say are keeping dark matter visible or not cleaning up the edges of your shapes, putting in puzzles that can break your level if someone messes them up or gets an object destroyed. You know, stuff you learn not to do after some practice.2009-09-24 20:57:00

Hey there and welcome! Don't panic about mistakes, that's how you learn. HOWEVER, do not make the big beginner mistake I made which was as follows:

Background: After completing the entire game I lost ALL my saved game data after some nincompoops at Playstation helpline gave me some bogus info.

1. Had some problems opening a level I'd made.

2. PS helpline said delete the LBP game data and then use the game disc to re-load the game - but do not delete LBP save game data.[/I]

3. Did that. Started to re-load the game but a corruption message came up... it said the game was corrupt and if I proceeded I may lose all data. Massive panic!

4. Called PS helpline back - BIG MISTAKE - and they said 'there's nothing you can do but delete your LBP save game data and start the entire game again. Thanks for nothing, helpline!!!

5. Deleted LBP save game data and had to spend hours and hours redoing everything - including levels I'd already created : (

WHAT I SHOULD HAVE REALISED AND WHAT PS HELPLINE SHOULD HAVE KNOWN: From time to time Media Molecule send online LBP version updates with assorted improvements. These version updates were the reason my saved game was supposedly "corrupted"... the original game didn't recognise the improvements and new features and so said the saved data was corrupted. If that happens, go ahead and load the game because if your PS3 is hooked up to the internet you'll get a message pop up on your screen saying something like "A software update for LBP has been found". Just download the update and your save data should be back as good as new. I only found this out because it happened to me TWICE and the second time i decided to stuff the helpline advice and re-load the game anyway.

hopefully you will never find yourself in that situation : )

I remember my first time. A little castle, walking vegetables, and lots of electrical obstacles. The critics ate it up. Well, they kinda chewed it up and spit it out. But people here are nice and don't do that. You should have lots of fun. Welcome!2009-09-25 16:00:00

Welcome! Glad ya made it!

...hmmm, if you are talking about mistakes in create mode. There are plenty of tips and tricks in the tutorials as Morgana mentioned. However, I think for me is realizing how the tools really work and cause untold massive mistakes. So my best recommendation is don't always create directly in the level. Create stuff in a workshop or two where you can play with an object and capture and pull it into the level. Another tip is label your logic stuff. I use the letter stickers. It is time consuming, but can really save you later on and help you identify issues or make changes to tweak bits. Smaller levels isn't usually a problem, but larger ones can get quite complicated and labeling helps me avoid the "what the heck is this for?" moments.

Have fun!
