They did a comparison on a show over here.. the gadget show. I think samsung or sony won..

Do sony do viera TV's? Cause I probably would've voted for that.

to be honest, theres not really noticeable difference between TV designers, just sometimes specific models.

Ugh... @_@

Lol, so this is an ongoing thing between you guys huh? :arg:

Anyway it's true, each model is different, each company having stronger models than others, but all in all, you can't go wrong with Samsung IMO. I have a 37" LCD 720p model and I spent A LOT of time looking at the 2 best ones I could find at Best Buy. Came out with this one because the blacks just looked gorgeous. And better integrated than most (i.e. fades well with all other colours).

My 2 cents!

Okay I think Sony has the best TV's out there but because of price it is costly to get one.

My personal pick is not on there, and that would be Vizio, it is cheap and a good quality for the price. No it is not a Sony, but for the price it is way worth it. You can get a 40" Vizio for 1,500 and Sony would cost about 4,000 US dollars.

But again I think Sony has some of the best TV's out there and only getting better.

If you read any of the top audiovisual forums and review sites like AVS Forum (http://www.avsforum.com/) or the UK's AV Forum (http://www.avforums.com/) then the Pioneer Kuro Elite Plasma's win hands down in every test, you do pay for the privilege of owning one though as they are not cheap, next in line is usually the Panasonic Plasmas.

If you're serious about getting one do a bit of research at those and other high end audiovisual sites first then choose the best one from the reviews that meets your budget.

Samsung is #1 right now, or it was a couple months ago, Sony being right behind it, I don't remember where i got the facts but I'm pretty sure. They're just too pricey tho, I have this Toshiba, and I'm truly impressed. Over 2000 shades of blacks ranging from light grey to pitch black. Has a gaming mode to calibrate the lag. It's an awesome gaming TV 2008-09-19 07:06:00

In the number of sales? Or in reviews about the quality of the image, features etc? Maybe in sales and maybe for LCD but for Plasma it is hands down Pioneer Kuro for image quality.

Honest to God, from personal experience, Samsung blows everyone else out of the water in the current range. I had a 32" HD ready Sammy LCD. Amazing stuff. I then decided I needed a bigger screen, so picked up a 40" 1080p LCD screen, WOW!

I've tried a lot of TVs before I settled on mine. Sony are more than adequate, or at least, the Bravia range is, they do have some terrible ones too, as are the others, but for my money, especially for gaming, Samsung stand head and shoulders above the rest, clearer picture, brighter whites and darker blacks.

Oh, but don't use the "Game" mode on the Sammy, just stick with the normal settings, they look better!

No, I'm talking about the quality for LCD, I've never used a plasma so I wouldn't know.

I have two... A samsung 1080p downscale 32 inch and a 32 inch polariod(completly random) 1080i (by accident). By accident because I was retarded and assumed it would be good (with such a low price)... but still in my bedroom with the samsung downstairs, with a 5.1 dolby digital surround sound downstaris and up.

Samsung is leading the market at the moment.

Believe it or not, but the Toshiba Regza model (Regza, was it? >_> ) are the closest thing to Samsung at the moment.
LG is also one of the best for LCD screens.

And if you ask me, Sony is ridiculous in comparison.

Actually I use the GAME mode on mine. I find it great! (I have a 37" 720p LCD) However, I tweaked the HEEECK out of the picture setings both on my TV and my PS3. So I coulnd't possibly get a better picture. You know when you buy a car, say a Toyota, and you love your car. Chances are you're going to look at Toyota first when comes time to buy a new one, cause they delivered on the first go! Same thing with me and Samsung, I'm showing the love!

This is one report, there are a heap more from reputable websites saying exactly the same thing.

Best Plasma Ever vs. Best LCD Ever (Verdict: Plasma Wins) (http://gizmodo.com/336498/best-plasma-ever-vs-best-lcd-ever-verdict-plasma-wins)

"Sound and Vision took took the best Plasma TV they could find (Pioneer Elite PRO-110FD Kuro) and the best LCD TV they could find (Samsung LN-T5281F), and threw them against each other in a carefully calibrated match. The winner, which we've actually seen before as the best flat panel ever, was the Pioneer Elite. Not only is it the best flat panel ever, thanks to improvements in both display techs, it's now actually the best TV ever. Period.

The winner was, in part, determined by how much better the plasma displayed blacks compared to the LCD."

If you'd like me to post more reviews from the leading Audio Visual websites that say exactly the same thing let me know

Check this out.

It's a show over here in the UK and I watch it most weeks. It will be back in October on Channel Five if anyone wants to watch it.

Anyway, here is their verdict:

Thanks,

The reason Plasma TVs will never be better than LCD's in my eyes is because (as far as I know, unless there's some sort of new technology...) Plasma TVs have visible reflection on the screen; meanwhile, there's close to no reflection on LCD screens.

Again, unless there's some new sort of technology running around... >_>

There is no reflection of any kind on the screen, did you even read the review?

Every and I mean every review from noted high end audio visual magazies to AV websites I read when I was looking for a high end flat planel TV earlier this year picked the Eighth Generation Pioneer Kuro Elite Plasma as the best flat panel TV of any kind Plasma or LCD.

Believe what you will as at the end of the day it's whatever makes you happy but personally I will take on board what the AV experts say in their reviews to get the info on what's the best out there and then go to a specialist shop where the panels have been calibrated correctly to D65K to make a decision by viewing each one in the correct light and conditions as it will be used in my home.

You will find that most of the box movers just plug in the panel and don't even calibrate them properly first to D65K before trying to show you that one picture is better than the other under their harsh fluro lights in their store.

People need to do a bit of research first to make sure they are getting the best bang for their buck no matter what their budget so they know what to look for, understand the technology and what features they require as well as what is the best available for their budget. Go into any store unprepared and you'll end up walking out with what the salesman wants to move not what is right for your particular situation whether it be Plasma or LCD.

I meant Plasmas in general, not that specific model.
They have a lot more reflection on the screen as opposed to LCD's in general.

Known fact.
