Heeeeell yes. I'm going to be a bit disappointed if the game doesn't support co-op through wi-fi.2009-09-24 18:11:00

I played the demo a little bit. Might fire it up again. I would like to play it with english text to understand all of it. I found the controls a bit frustrating but with english explanation I'm sure I can tweak it the way I want. I'm buying a used psp just for this game. I have one now but the ad-hoc is broken and I MUST play this co-op.2009-09-26 10:39:00

I'd try it, but my analog is crapped.
Getting a PSPGo soon though, so, yeeeah!

i was gonna try this but complicated controls put me off. this is why psp needs 2 analogues. then the controls could be something like left stick move, right stick change the directionyour facing(for aiming gun/punches etc.), L puts away/takes out weapon, R attacks. also left and right arrows toggle weapons and up and down toggle between standing/crouching. start pauses(all games need pause). even the two analogues click feature could be used(two analogues would both need the click feature imo to match ps3 controls i wouldnt mind if there wasn't R2 and L2 buttons tho, but maybe others would). if there was R2 and L2 buttons they could toggle between standing/crouching instead2009-09-26 20:03:00

I really want to try this co-op with someone. If anyone is up for it I'm willing to go to the lengths of creating a japanese account and downing the ad-hoc party beta and finding out how it works so we can play together. I hated the controls but I'm willing to give it another shot with the p-ops scheme.2009-10-25 19:43:00

I'm a big MGS fan since my cousin showed it to me was MGS1 was released and I can't wait for this one! I'm sure it will be wonderful but I don't like the gameplay very much. In my opinion it's pointless that you can't move when ur leaning against or wall or lying on the ground. I don't see a reason for that because they could just let you hold that position automaticly untill u press the button again. This way it would have been no problem to move around.2010-04-01 13:55:00

Been watching videos of this lately. At first I wasn't that hopeful, I didn't really like Portable Ops. But it looks really good. I'm not a big Co-op person, so while that stuff looks cool, I know that I'll never use it. But the solo gameplay I've seen also looks really good, it just oozed what I love about MGS. The only thing I'm disappointed about is the lack of in-game cutscenes, the story will be told via comic book style storyboard with voiceovers. This was something I really disliked about Portable Ops and I'm really disappointed that this is the case. I'm not a fan of comics at all, TBH I'd probably rather codec conversations to this method of storytelling. Maybe I'll be able to learn to like it...

Still, story seems good even if the method isn't to my taste. Gameplay seems great, I actually remember talking to a friend when it was first announced and mapped that exact control sceme for the PSP. Based on Syphon Filter, it seemed like a great fit. Graphics look great as always. Just found a version of the demo that will work with 5.00M33 so gonna give it a go now .

EDIT: Ok just played the first two missions of the demo and I gotta say... WOW! Officially really really excited for the game now. Really seems like a proper MGS, linear storyline, mission based so that you can play a mission you liked again and so each play session isn't too long but no collecting items missions, no dragging enemies back to your truck. Control scheme works great (I played some of the Syphon Filter games so knew what to expect), there are some game engine cutscenes which is appreciated (the intro cut-scene was just so MGS) and the comicbook cutscenes are actually really good. There's enough animation and enough style to keep me interested and the voiceovers are excellent as expected.

It's actually more than I dared to hope for. Cannot wait until it releases! Day 1 purchase, no doubt about it!

EDIT 2: Have spent 3 hours altogether playing the demo and getting S ranking in all the missions. If you have a PSP and like MGS, you need to play this... now maybe my expectations were low and it's cast a glow upon the game that shouldn't be there... but part of me feels that it is just that good. Remember it is a PSP game, so don't expect MGS4... it actually feels a lot more like MGS3... which is my favourite MGS.

Ugh... maybe I'm a bit of a picky gamer but this could really ruin the game for me...

Pretty sure that's an actual in-game pic. This sucks and IMO will completely break immersion.

On second thought, maybe just maybe, it'll make me laugh when I see it and I'll actually like it.

Thoughts?

I find kojimas brand of humor brilliant and a doritos packet would be funny. I spent 7 hours playing the demo, doing missions differently, levels with no kills levels with lots of kills etc.
Also with the newly announced monster hunter game mode i cant wait for this. It was always a day one title for me but now even more so.

Been seeing all the trailers recently and really wishing I had a PSP for this.

I would love to get a chance to play around with the tank and ambulence boxes.

Been playing Portable Ops the last while. Really is a great game once you get used to it. Though I find recruiting enemies to be annoying... again you do get used to it after a while. One thing I really dislike is that Snake remains the same through the game and although he has high health and stamina, he has no perks like fast dragging of enemies or fast sneaking etc. I have yet to find an enemy who has fast sneak, fast run, can send stuff back to the truck and fast dragging. Would be the perfect soldier for the game.

Peace Walker is going to be an enormous breath of fresh air with the fulton system. Also I hate the 4 item limitation... so not MGS. And it means that if you want every item in a level you have to switch to a deliveryman (usually Zero).

Story is good though there's less of it than in other MGS's. Compared to other MGS's the boss battles are poor. Well the two so far anyway. Python was decent, Null was terrible (at least this time, you probably fight him again). The tank battle in Peace Walker was more exciting than both.

Anyway I really can't wait for Peace Walker. It's going to be huge improvement on Portable Ops in every way. Better item system, better level design, better graphics, better cut-scenes with more animations (hopefully with some in-game cut-scenes thrown in), better controls (though Portable Ops controls can be changed to pretty much the exact same scheme, which does improve gameplay a lot), better overall gameplay. The fulton system is a huge deal when you compare it to Portable Ops where the majority of your time playing the game is probably recruiting enemies, knocking them out and dragging them to a truck or a team-mate in a box. Though dragging multiple enemies to one box does cut it down a lot, it is still quite tedious gameplay.

And regarding the Doritos, I'm coming around to the idea. And Axe bodyspray... it'll be interesting to see how it affects gameplay... female soldiers swoon (go unconscious) when you're near them perhaps?

I agree with portable ops and I should know, I have played portable and portable ops plus collectively for about 400 hours, which is a lot of time. And even after all that the controls are still too fiddly. However I do have a perfect soldier on it and all of the main characters unlocked sooooo I cant complain.2010-04-12 08:27:00
