Getting bombarded!!!

Archive: 70 posts

Hi all,

Does anyone ever get it when their trying to make a level or just playing on their own or even with one or two friends and they get BOMBARDED!!

By this i mean non stop inviting, requests to join aaaalllll the time.

Dont get me wrong i love my friends but some people just dont get it.

If you ignore them they will not stop for aaaages and if you click refuse or cancel that doesnt work either.

I get messages saying things like...

-Whats wrong?
-MEANIEE!!
-What have i done?
-Why are you not coming?
-Fine be that way

etc etc etc lol i feel bad because they make me feel guilty and like i HAVE to play with them. I know i could make a level offline but i sometimes want to play online levels by myself lol.

And its annoying when u accidently click accept when they catch you out!

I was wondering if anyone can give me some examples of what they have said to the bombarders that hassel you everytime you go online. Its a funny situation and im sure theres alot of you out there that have the same problem?

hmmm and i dont know why my signature is so small LOL

Have you tried changing your status mark to not available? That might reduce it a bit.

For those that don't know: Press PS button, go to friends, find you, press Traingle, pick status and then pick not avaibable

I get this ALL the time. This is how I cope.

1. When creating - unplug the internet cable. Works really well for alone create time.

2. For playing without a ton of people sending requests - make a private account that has no or very limited friends on it. I have one and I know a lot of people have them. Good for when you have an agenda to get finished and don't have time to play a bomb level 15 times in a row with your younger friends.

3. You can get militant - (not a solution I like) After a warning to your friends that spamming won't endear you to them and make you join them any faster - you have the right to delete them from your friends list. Lots of people do it but I'm in the same camp you are - seems a bit extreme. This is why I opt for #1 & #2.

Hope it helps.

Morgana, I'm about to save you a lot of plugging and unplugging:

When in-game, pull up the XMB, go to "Account Management", press triangle, then select "Sign Out". It logs you out of PSN, and your friends can no longer bug you.

If I had people like this on my friends list, I would send them one simple message: Invite me once, and if I don't accept, move on.

If they refuse, delete them, they are more nuisance than friend in my opinion.

I have the same exact problem as you, Fenderjt. I do the same exact things as Morgana. I have a secret account for when my husband and I want to play online levels together. I also create under this name and then transfer it to my normal profile. I do not accept friend requests at the secondary screen name and only have maybe 10 people on there. ^_^2009-09-24 00:14:00

I just remove people if they get annoying. However the one that typically bombards me is my fiance and seeing as she does this by standing between me and the tv saying she is ready to play, it makes it infinitly hard to delete her...

Not that I would want to that is >_>

OOOOH, ho ho ho! And you're not even married yet!!

I've been pretty lucky in my friends-adds. I have a pretty near-full friends list, but I never get invites. I've definitely had some scattered "adds" purely based on people playing my levels, but those guys tend to take it easy and not send invites or join requests anytime I'm playing. So I have a pretty mellow experience with this game, thankfully.

Ohoho, if only that worked

Seems like this seperate account option is the winner, should think about doing that as well at times.

The fact that people get upset when you don't respond with an "I'm busy message" or whatever is the worst.
Sometimes I just leave my PS3 with LBP on while I'm doing other stuff and I would come back with some PSN messages in my inbox stating that "I'm a jerk" or "OMFG, LETZ ME JOINZ!!".

I'm not an army of clones!!

I agree... this is annoying sometimes. I really should get around to creating another account for this reason as well as creating. Sometimes I get these invites while waiting for someone else to meet me onlne, so going offline isn't always an option in case the person I'm expecting to play with or chat with sends shows up.

When I send a request to play to someone and they don't respond or join in, I assume they are playing and don't want to be bothered or are busy eating or something. In this case I just send them a quick message saying the invite was sent but they may not have seen it while away from the machine. That way, it's in their hands as to whether they want to join in the fun or not.

Seriously though, they need to create an option where you can turn off friend join/invites. What's the use of setting your status to "Unavailable" if your friends are still popping up join/invites? It's frustrating especially when your playing a really long and difficult level and you get popped a "join" right in the middle of jump and you accidentally accept. A friend did this to me last week right when I was completing the final obstacle. When I got in their pod I had to slap him around a bit out of frustration.2009-09-24 19:00:00

Ah, then you're PERFECT. Please add me as a friend and then never join or invite me. (lol) Nah, but seriously, I don't create much nowadays and I only like to play with a select few of my friends and if their not online I just play for high score mainly.

I have a very good idea. If you are creating a level and they interrupt you then why don't you just do this.
Say to them that your creating a level and if they stop bugging you then they can know all the secret hiding places for items and stuff.

But if that doesn't work then why dont you just try and see what will happen if you say that you've had enough and if they keep doing that then I guess we shouldn't be friends anymore.

Well i know if i try to join someone and the auto decline message comes up i leave them alone because common sense and courtesy tell you they dont want to play. I want the same when i am creating, so i cant help but only add older and mature people, because i dont have time for the small kids, lol. Besides all the other advice given to deal with that person, i take my thumbs off the controller to make sure i dont accidentily join someone after being invited, and i can think it through.2010-02-04 20:54:00

Connect, quickly find the level you want to play, enter it, then disconnect from PSN.
That should work, I hope.
You won't record your high score online, but does it really matters?

Otherwise grab four joypads and switch them on so that they will see that you don't have space for other players, then switch them of when you enter the level.
That should work too, but it will cost you 100 bucks, more or less.

I want to assure my PSN friends that I didn't exploited those methods, I just had those brilliant ideas right now .
They could always be useful perhaps...
