Limited Time Costumes... Bring Them Back!

Archive: 26 posts

I've missed out on at least 4 free limited time costumes so far, and I have to say, I'm a bit upset about it. I like them all and thought they were really cool. Why did MM remove them from the store? I really don't see the point in making costumes if the payoff for all the work that goes into them is limited. What are your thoughts?2009-09-23 18:07:00

Limited time celebration = limited time onstore.
Think about it...
Christmas DLC + summer months?

I want them to stay limited.

I missed the pumpkin head. I did download it, but it vanished off my system and my download list.

I could have got the 1 week shirt, but at the time I never bought anything off the store, so couldn't be bothered.

I also didn't get the Christmas or valentine packs, (got Santa though ) I did 'borrow' them from a friend but accidentally deleted the account so lost them.

Apart from that, I have all the limited time DLC, but I still want them to be kept limited time. If they ever re release the spaceman I'll be pretty P.O'd.

I think the Christmas, Valentine's Day DLC should remain limited-time items, but I don't really get why the spacesuit was limited-time. I mean, was it actually celebrating anything related to time of release?2009-09-23 18:50:00

It was a launch costume.

The Spacesuit was celebrating the 'launch' of the game...get it?

It was a first week item that shall never be returning, and I'm glad about that.

Look, the only items that are/were truly exclusive are the crown, beta items, and the first week t shirt (not available in North America I think?).

If you missed any of the others, then it is entirely your own fault. Whether it was because you didn't have the game back then, or just didn't look at the news often enough, that's not Mm's problem. They gave you the opportunity to get them, and you missed it. Tough luck, that's life.

As for the other 'truly exclusive' items. They're meant to be very rare, that's the whole point of them. That's the definition of exclusive. If you don't like that, well there's not much you can do about it, once again, that's life.

Sorry if this seems a little harsh. LBW is full of this stuff and I get bored of fighting this battle over and over again.

LBPC is supposed to be my safe place

i have a few of the limited-time stuff....but i wouldn't mind owning the others. it'd be nice if they re-released them with a price. then again, they're just stuff on a game. nothing to get too worked up about.2009-09-23 19:21:00

I say nay, but not exactly for your reasoning. Frankly i'm tired of all the whining that goes on with people wanting the time sensitive DLC, MM decided that they'd be available for a limited time, if you didn't get them, alas. And its certainly not necessary for you to have the DLC to play the game.2009-09-23 19:43:00

I don't care about time-limited costumes. But I think time-limited packs with stickers, objects and materials are a bad idea. Because now if ever somebody sends me an object which uses something from the Valentine's pack, there's no way I'll ever be able to use it, simply because I couldn't be bothered to buy it because I foolishly thought I wouldn't need it.2009-09-23 20:19:00

the limited edition DLC costumes, are like badges for the "veterans" of LBP.

i AM rather upset that the week-one tee didnt show up for us folks in north-america.

if they can figure out who had LBP during the first week in the us, they should totally offer it to those who are eligible. but then you get psn code sharing issues

Well I like the Solstice costume and I did download and use it on my PS3 20 gig but when it started to give out I got the PS3 Slim. I backed up the entire PS3 20 and restored it to the Slim. All seemed well but when I tried to choose the Solstice costume it says I do not own it or part of it. All the other limited time items work fine.2009-09-23 22:29:00

They should always bring back the limited time costumes, but ONLY during those holidays. This way they remain limited time things, but people would still have the opportunity once a year to obtain them.

And just so you know, some of us collect all of the costumes. In real life, when something is limited, you can still get it by finding a used one or a hard to find new, or hoping they release them again at certain limited time point in year. But how do you do that in LBP? You can't, which is why they need to be brought back each holiday for that limited time.

EDIT: Oh, and not to mention people that have had it, but something happened so they no longer have it, which wasn't their fault.

I have all of those limited time DLCs but I see no reason to deny others the opportunity to get them again. LBP is supposed to be about playing, creating and sharing right?

This being said, it's all up to MM. I'm fairly sure they've seen the suggestion more than a few times by now and will decide what to do about it at a proper time. Badgering them and complaining wouldn't really accomplish much other than to annoy them, which should be discouraged.

I think they shouldn't bring them back, they wouldn't be as valuable but I wouldn't care too much if some returned.

EDIT: Maybe just for 1 month or something.

I'm a late-comer to the game, since I only got it in April. Fallout 3 took priority for me at the beginning of 2009, and a good job too because I never would have completed it if I'd had LBP to distract me. Can anyone tell me exactly which time limited costumes I missed? (I've got the Saint Patrick's Day one BTW)2009-09-24 02:44:00

I have gotten all the costumes that were only on the store for a limited time, I even got the Christmas pack... But at the time the Valentines Day pack was released I felt like MM was ripping us off, for months now I regret not buying that pack! Alot of the materials in it would be very useful to me =( It would be nice if MM would rerelease all these limited items for a special "One Week Only" time of deal. Alot of my friends didn't get the game until this year so they would definetly appreciate it if they did this.

I guess the only way we will know if MM will rerelease the dlc corresponding to each holiday is if they release the Pumpkin Head again around Halloween.

fine, go ahead with the holiday ones, but no one gets those space-suits again

i was there for the launch of LBP, and followed the game for a long time before it was out, so my reward was the space suit.

giving out a holiday costume every year, is a good idea, but it would be the same costume for those who already have them. (so they get nothing D

perhaps just new (not to similar, to avoid pop-it crowdage) holiday themed items each year.

or better yet, every year, bring the new thing, AND the old thing into town.

makes us all happy

I'm with Gilgamesh on this one. As I've stated before in the other threads about this very topic (sigh), I see no real value in making something limited time... regardless of the time of year or launch date. I too have all the limited time DLC, but see no valid reason for others not to have access to it other than immature "bragging rights" by those who were fortunate enough to be playing LBP at the time of their release.2009-09-24 19:43:00

I expect the limited time only costumes will be released next year, at the same time as it was this year. So the Christmas pack will probably be released again this year in a couple of months, and the valentines day pack will be released next year. The same with all the limited time only costumes like the St. Patrick's day costume and the Sacktue of liberty.2009-09-24 20:18:00

What time did the spacesuit finish listing on the store, I didnt get LBP until January and I still got the costume.
