Cutting tool
Archive: 13 posts
Corner editor is great, but what LBP create mode needs is a cutting tool. If I want to, say, cut a piece off something to create a gap (without losing the complex work I already have), I'm rather out of luck. It's very frustrating. Mm, are you listening? | 2009-09-21 12:18:00 Author: roux- Posts: 379 |
Not sure what you mean roux but if you just want to cut a bit away from the edge of something you can do that just by picking any material ( although I always tend to use glass because it's neat ) and any shape and then placing it over the bit you want to cut away and pressing triangle. There has been talk in the past of a sticker cutout tool which would make it much easier. We know Mm have one but they haven't let us have it yet and I've heard no more about it for ages. | 2009-09-21 12:25:00 Author: mistervista Posts: 2210 |
I think what he means is a tool to cleanly cut something in half without having to cut out a gap between them. Think what's required when you have a large block of something and then you decide you would like to split it completely in half. You currently have to cut it with a block of material and then fill the gap that you created. A cut tool would allow a clean, easy "slice" down the middle of the object, and it would leave the two objects flush with one another. Nice suggestion. | 2009-09-21 13:43:00 Author: comphermc Posts: 5338 |
All you have to do is make the material the smallest possible then delete down the middle. There may still be a gap, but not much of one. | 2009-09-21 14:53:00 Author: Unknown User |
All your connectors go wrong and you run the risk of losing switches and other objects that are stuck on if you use the cut with triangle option. | 2009-09-21 15:31:00 Author: rtm223 Posts: 6497 |

Yeah, not to mention that it's really decoration unfriendly. The griffith decoration on the history pack deletes itself everytime you touch something near it. And by near I mean whole half levels. | 2009-09-21 17:04:00 Author: OmegaSlayer Posts: 5112 |

Actually, on LittleBigWorkshop, Tom or Spaff said that Mm used the corner edit tool just like everyone else... I do not remember which one said that... Anyway, I just take a tiny square, and cut at the material I am shaping, and then I use the corner editor. PS. Why does every icon show up as a guy, and on every quote it says SnappyGuy? | 2009-09-21 20:28:00 Author: KlawwTheClown Posts: 1106 |

It would also be a nice and easy way of getting around 'this shape is too complex'; just slice it in half. Nice suggestion. Thanks. And I just realised another benefit of this (courtesy of a bunch of swearing at my PS3): when making complex shapes that interlock, a slicing tool would mean you could make the shape(s) in one easy step. As it is, you have to corner edit everything. Yeah, Mm used the corner edit--but I somehow suspect they were probably using graphics tablets and such to get more precision... ...hey. Can you use a USB mouse with the PS3 and map it to the left stick??? That would actually take the place of this in some ways. | 2009-09-22 03:47:00 Author: roux- Posts: 379 |

I don't believe so, unfortunately, unless you use something like this and invert the sticks somehow: YouTube - PS3 FRAGFX Control for FPS,TPS,and more... | 2009-09-22 04:53:00 Author: comphermc Posts: 5338 |
yea it's a good idea it's annoying when it leaves an ugly gap | 2009-09-22 08:17:00 Author: rseah Posts: 2701 |
+1. Now someone should just email the idea to Mm. | 2009-09-22 13:56:00 Author: Sunrise_Moon Posts: 469 |
I like the idea of the cutting tool, that makes a nice and clean cut, and doesn't leave any space between the cutted things. I would definitely give a thumbs up for it! | 2009-09-22 16:19:00 Author: moonwire Posts: 1627 |
