About the new fansite register.

Archive: 29 posts

Maybe this is for the Beta trials, maybe how ever many fansites register on there, they contact the owner and depending on the number of fansites, each owner gets to invite a certain number of people to the beta, all adding up to 20,000. Just my guess, because why else would they do this, right after the beta trials for Japan. Plus on the official LBP forums, SAM said they would use other means of recruiting US and Europe players.2008-09-18 03:16:00

I had this thought too, actually. I doubt it will be the entire 20,000, but they might have reserved a few(50-100 per site) for the fansites. The hope that they will support us in this way is what is driving us to change the site to meet their specifications.2008-09-18 03:45:00

Pretty original way to do it, though... Instead of just picking out random people through the PSN. I'm pretty sure the latest firmware version and new upcoming LBP theme have something to do with it too, though.2008-09-18 04:06:00

Well I guess everybodys thinking it, lets not get too excited though... it might not happen.

if it DOES, are we selecting randomly, or according to loyalty?

I think if this was the case, it would be incredibly difficult to decide who to choose. I mean there are some givens, but its got to be made fair. But anyway, lets not get carried away. This may not happen.

Perhaps sell them through the boards store if it happens.2008-09-18 14:41:00

I think they'd probably choose the top 50-100 active posters / users.2008-09-18 15:17:00

we could end up with more codes then users though, and all the recognisable users definatly deserve a code more then those who hear that this site has codes and sign up just to ask for them.

+ as for activity, Reshin + overwork + (gia)Jack are no longer very post-active, but definatly worthy of a code.

Again.. hoping this happens.

@miffy this could be the best way to do it but some people just come on here and post like mad with nonsense where as some people like to just post more selectively but more meaningfull posts that are helpfull to the community. Guess it would be a tough choice2008-09-18 16:15:00

And then in the middle you have people who post like mad with meaningful posts. And thus the moderators came to be...2008-09-18 16:34:00

Most active users would be a good way of choosing. Then I might have a chance...2008-09-18 17:07:00

Well yeah, you could hardly decline someone with 700 posts, compared to someone who's been here for a few days and made 7, no matter how in depth they are ;/2008-09-18 17:11:00

That would be completely out-of-character for me. I simply have a thing about finding humor in various grammatical discrepancies. And I rarely pass up the opportunity to slip in a good joke. (Yes, I noticed the "lol jokes :>)" part. Just making sure it's official.)

To be honest, I really am fearful of this happening. I just would hate to not have members not get in because of what we decide and by what standards.

Most active or most posts or a good reason to want it (As in to review it or to actually try and find things wrong, not just "Ohhhhhh! I really want it! Gimmee it now!) would be the best ways.2008-09-18 23:32:00

ok ... ok... i know how to do this...

First... we wait to see if this is how beta trials are going to be given out...

Second... IF it is how the beta is given out, people that work for the site... Mods and Admins get the first codes...

Third... Give me a code...

Fourth... Its up to you...

really tho... buying them in the store will be a bad idea... I would rather have the admins hand out (half/All) the codes personally... maybe just see what peoples names they know from the site... if they are recognizeable, than they are active

Right?

O and this is just a HUGE IF plan...

Oh great, I won't be able to get into the beta because I don't have much to add or post. I still visit here every day. :eek:2008-09-19 23:29:00

The staff will work out how to handle this if it does happen. We've had this going through our heads since we heard about the fansite register, so we're definitely planning for it. If this happens, it all depends on the amount of beta codes we get. If we end up with 15-20, then it will probably be the most useful users(decided by us). If we end up with more than that(50-100), we'll probably take care of the most useful users and then raffle off the rest. If this happens, how do you guys think we should handle it?2008-09-19 23:45:00

Hm, that never crossed my mind...

But, well you know... um...

Ok, ok. Fine. I get it. I probably am not important enough to get in the low numbers if this does happen... Still, that would be cool.

So, let's see... if this DOES happen, I suppose lbp, Cartman, and possible Maltay and bbroman get first picks... but yeah...

Anyway, never crossed my mind, but I suppose it is possible... in any case, I suppose I'll say something stupid, as is my motto.

Motto? What's a motto, you ask?

Nothing. What's the motto with you? :hero:

Alphabetically starting half way through the alphabet. But only the active ones. eg. Maltay, Marino, Moley... *Shot*

Just choose who you want. I would love to get in, but you can just give them to your closest forum friends.

You should raffle them off. No members should get them unless they are staff, and even then it is a maybe. That would be unfair to all other members.2008-09-20 01:47:00
