That happened to me once. When it was done, everything was normal. It can sometimes result from shutting the PS3 off while it is doing something important (writing to the HDD). Also, shutting it off from the back while it is on will do it as well.2009-09-20 19:55:00

Oh crap! I think that's bad because I ALWAYS turn my ps3 off from the back... maybe I should just do a normal shut-off.

Yeah, always turn off from the button/menu. Best to leave it on standby to, but if not, make sure it's on standby before switching the back off.

I've got a couple of YLoD's from turning the PS3 off at the back before, but the PS3 is fine afterwards.2009-09-21 01:02:00

Hitting the switch in the back is the equivalent of performing a hard-shutdown on your PC via the power button. Last resort only.

Do not tempt the YLOD!

LOL, I used to shut down my PS3 with the back switch (straight from gameplay and without even quitting to the browser menus) for over a year before I realised the risk I was taking. In retrospect I should have read the manual, I guess. Strangely enough I never got the YLOD though.2009-09-21 21:02:00

k I'm doing that now... it was a horrible habit now I'm exiting from the game by going in the menu and pressing power or outside of game press the button(not the back button)2009-09-22 23:50:00

Good, i've accidentaly turned it off at the back, if you do, you notice for a split second a yellow LED. When i saw it when i accidentaly turned it off at the back I was like "**** please no!"
