Should I make another level or have a break?
Archive: 19 posts
So as most of you know I've just finished my new level 'Pretty Simple', upto now my creating has been pretty constant and everything I have published is what I've made. (I have no half made levels or anything like that, when I start a project I see it straight through). I'm not sure whether to get straight back in like I have done so far or take a break for a while. What do you guys usually do when you finish a level? Another thing is that Football Manager comes out soonish which always leads to a good 4 months hibernation period, so if I don't make one now...it could be a while! | 2009-09-19 19:15:00 Author: jackofcourse Posts: 1494 |
If you have an idea I say make it. Or finish it and publish it when you haven't played for a while | 2009-09-19 19:23:00 Author: Snappyguy Posts: 710 |
Another thing is that Football Manager comes out soonish which always leads to a good 4 months hibernation period, so if I don't make one now...it could be a while! Another football manager player eh? I love the game - I say take a break and play this for a few months (only 4 months? I've notched up nearly 30 days of play time on FM09!) But yes, it'll give you time to play something else and come back with a fresh out look on the game to create something new | 2009-09-19 19:43:00 Author: Coxy224 Posts: 2645 |
4 months is the none-stop-can't-do-anything-else-except-play-FM-time I'll still play it after that...just won't be as addicted I have an idea I like in my head, but no idea if I can make the theme work in creation. Something to think about I guess! | 2009-09-19 19:45:00 Author: jackofcourse Posts: 1494 |
Should you give me another masterpiece to play over and over again, or not? Hmm, tough question. Seriously though, don't force creativity, you obviously have a knack for it and it will come when it's ready. | 2009-09-19 19:47:00 Author: BSprague Posts: 2325 |
aren't u going back to uni anyway? | 2009-09-19 19:59:00 Author: ladylyn1 Posts: 836 |
eh four months is a long time, so thats a tough question. water packs comeing out next friday right? maby you should do something with that then take a break if you feel like. | 2009-09-19 20:00:00 Author: Littlebigdude805 Posts: 1924 |
I agree that you should do what feels right. If you have an idea or just feel like clunking around in create mode... then why not? | 2009-09-19 20:01:00 Author: Rustbukkit Posts: 1737 |
if its enjoyable, then yes. dont force yourself to make anything though. | 2009-09-19 20:16:00 Author: SteveBigGuns Posts: 423 |
I agree that you should definitely come back when water gets released. We'll miss you if you leave, but it's understandable. | 2009-09-19 20:16:00 Author: comphermc Posts: 5338 |
This question should be answered as easily as: "Do I feel like making another level now? Yes/no". If yes, go ahead. If no, do something else. . | 2009-09-19 21:01:00 Author: RangerZero Posts: 3901 |
water packs comeing out next friday right?Wrong. To my knowledge there isn't a release date for water, it is still in beta stages. Do you have a source, because I could be completely wrong, I just don't think that's the case. | 2009-09-19 21:04:00 Author: BSprague Posts: 2325 |
I think a break would do you some good. Don't take too long of a break though, I'd love to see what you come up with when water comes out . | 2009-09-19 21:05:00 Author: brnxblze Posts: 1318 |
If you feel full of motivation and inspiration then strike while the iron's hot. If you don't then take a break. | 2009-09-19 21:08:00 Author: Ungreth Posts: 2130 |
The armchair psychologist in me says there's a reason you are even asking the question. So... if that reason is a need for validation, allow me to oblige: You are a fantastic creator and every level you've published has been just nigh shy of a masterpiece. Please make more! If, on the other hand, you've asked because you're uninspired or just plain tired of the process, let me just say this: You are a fantastic creator and every level you've published has been just nigh shy of a masterpiece. So take a break, refresh your imagination, and then please come back and make more! | 2009-09-19 21:18:00 Author: v0rtex Posts: 1878 |
I don't mean to be forceful, but perhaps you could make a shorter level, like a mini-game or a score challenge like all the kids are doing these days. | 2009-09-19 21:47:00 Author: SLS10 Posts: 1129 |
jackofcourse, if you have no desire to stop creating then don't, but if your getting tired of it then I say take that long break. | 2009-09-19 22:05:00 Author: olit123 Posts: 1341 |
Only just remembered about this thread! It became a little more focused on whether I should make another level or not than I intended haha. While that was the opening question, it was also supposed to be just a general thread about what you guys do after you've finished a level Apologises I think I worded it badly! | 2009-09-20 23:26:00 Author: jackofcourse Posts: 1494 |

WAY TO FAIL, DUDE Lol, jk, we all miswrite things sometimes. Speaking of which, is "miswrite" a word? | 2009-09-20 23:36:00 Author: SLS10 Posts: 1129 |
