The land before time

I listened to that on cassette. :-)
Loved Petrie and Ducky. Yep, yep, yep. ^.^

The first movie I remember was Lion King. But there may have been something before that one.

By the time I was two years old, my mom says I would climb up to the VCR (oh, that's right) and pop in either Ladyhawke or Rambo: First Blood Part II each and every morning. That's how I roll.2009-09-19 20:03:00

When I was 5 or 6 no one had VCR's in their home... too expensive, and they had just been released for home use. I had to put up with whatever was on Saturday Night At The Movies and shows like that.

The upside is that I went outside and played, used my imagination, met friends in person and stuff like that.

When Toy Story and Finding Nemo came out, I was not a little kid anymore, lol. I was a teen when Finding Nemo came out, and almost a teen when Toy Story came out.

Here are some I remember . . .
-Disney Movies (Alladin, Sleeping Beauty, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Snow White and The Seven Dwarves, Lion King, and probably every other old Disney movie ever made)
-Nightmare on Elm Street (loved them all, and very scary, but unlike some kids I never got nightmares from scary movies)
-Land Before Time (I loved all of them)

Hmm.. hard for me to remember back that far. Land of the Lost was a series I watched normally but I was like 8 or 9 then. Although the movies I watched came out before I was born they still showed them on the Wonderful World of Disney, for example the Incredible Journey, The Absent Minded Professor, Escape to Witch Mountain (released after I was born).. and many more. Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory is another favorite. I think all of the ones I have mentioned have been remade and not one of them holds up to the original.2009-09-20 01:36:00

I was a Ghostbusters MANIAC. Maniac. I remember being so excited for the Ghostbusters happy meal. I would have killed to have the Ecto 1.

And after Ghostbusters, it was Ninja Turtles.

Aside from that, my childhood movies are the usual for my generation. Disney movies, going to see Aladdin and Little Mermaid in the theaters, re-watching Pinnochio and Dumbo for the umpteenth time, and of course Spielberg's classics - Indiana Jones, E.T.
Also Star Wars. I have weird memories of being slightly creeped out when Chewie's imprisoned with the busted up C3P0.

Where I depart company with many kids my age was that when I saw Spaceballs as a youngun' (6 at the time, and crazy about Star Wars), one thing stood out to me - The "Alien" scene where the chestburster rips its way through John Hurt's torso and then does a song-and-dance number.

I was so unbelievably curious about that I didn't shut up about it, so my parents let me watch Alien.

And that was the movie that, as a child, did what neither Ghostbusters nor E.T. did: It made me want to make movies.

You can imagine that when my dad told me about a sequel where Space Marines fight a whole colony of Aliens, I just about peed my pants right then and there. We were on a road trip, and it was night, and we had pulled up to a Sonic drive in. It's an indelible memory to me, just learning about the Alien sequel for the first time.

But i really did not watch too much TV until I got a gamecube... I was addicted to games then! But otherwise I played Pokemon make-believe with two neighbor girls (We still keep in touch, and the answer to the next question, no.). They are currently trying to be good artists... this (http://ka-bam.deviantart.com/) is their art page!

But other than that off topic blurp,
Cinderella (I admit...), some random cartoons like tom and jerry, and lots of Disney movies.
Oh, and POKEMON!

I wanna be the very best, that no one ever was....
*Sigh* Good memories. I used to pay with Pokemon cards, too.
I also remember how my friends parents thought Pokemon was too violent...
Pokemon Cristal was my first game, too. I got every game up to diamond just to hold on to that little thread of my past... I think I played pokemon emerald about 110 hours. (it's SO ADDICTIVE!!!!1!!1111!!)

My DS has a broken hinge I played it so much. I should sell diamond... but I can't make myself do that...

BACK ON TOPIC.
So really I just watched every Pokemon and Disney movie. Even the girly ones... Back then i denied it to my preschool friends.
I also saw Grease a ton on tape. I think my mom has a couple tapes of me and my sister dancing to "Grease Lightning".

I did once see this movie called spirited away, but when I was young I had NO idea what that was.

I can remember watching a norwegian movie in theaters and that came out in 87. Between that and the turtles movies I can't remember much. I'm not sure if I saw the first turtles movie in theaters but I definately saw turtles 2 - green ooze and I believe that came out in 91-93.2009-09-20 11:16:00

As a kid?? I don't really remember any kids movies, or really enjoying them that much. Maybe Toy Story... I liked the spider baby

As for the movies I watched over and over again as a kid, I remember Terminator 2 (which to this day is still one of my favourite movies) and The 5th Element and Terry Gilliam's 12 Monkeys. I also remember having vague memories of watching Blade Runner as a kid... I didn't really get it, but I was fairly intrigued. I only watched it again recently and its now near the top of my favourite movies list!
I loved Edward Scissor Hands and seriously need to watch that again.

Despite watching all those dark sci-fi movies as a kid, the one movie that freaaaked the crap out of me and gave me recurring nightmares was The Witches based on Roald Dahl's book.

I remember crying when Mufasa died, and Simba ran away from his guilt. I never understood why The Lion King was targeted for kids--it's dark and deep, like the other Disney movies...

Anyways, I too watched Land Before Time and got addicted to "If we hold on together"...

And I remember watching Jurassic Park. I was so terrified, and I loved it!

Many of you may not have even heard of this movie but I watched KRULL over and over with my lil brother. I'm still hoping they might come out with a KRULL 2. Would love to see "the glave" make a comeback and also see Liam Neeson reprise his role. Maybe they could bring him back to life somehow... ok, well I'd pay money to see it.

Reading this thread really makes me feel old. When most of these movies came out -- Toy Story, Bug's Life, Lion King, etc -- I was already an adult. I saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory when it was new. Not the Johnny Depp one, the Gene Wilder one. I also like Dr. Doolittle, again, not the one with Eddie Murphy, but the one with Rex Harrison.

I was in high school when Krull was released in theaters, and yeah, the glaive was cool.

On a common note though, my first cartoon memories are of watching Scooby Doo, only Shaggy, Velma, Daphne, and Fred were wearing the latest fashions.

The 70s and 80s rocked!

Don't feel old. We had the benefit of watching the 'originals' of these remakes that they make nowadays. And personally I think the originals are always better.

The Goonies, Legend, Labyrinth, Neverending Story, Dark Crystal, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Predator, The Princess Bride, All Dogs Go To Heaven, Return of the Jedi, Robocop, Big!, Beetlejuice, The Muppet movies, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Ghostbusters 2, Conan the Destroyer... I watched those so many times when I was a kid whenever I could. We had cable a couple times, and any time there was a free weekend of a premium channel I would record stuff like that on VHS on SLP (3-4 movies a tape!) and watch 'em til the wheels fell off.2009-10-08 13:30:00

5 or 6? We were poor so didn't have a VCR or cable. I suppose it must have been those early Disney animated movies at my richer godparents' house. They used to buy every single Disney release on VHS at the time.

I started watching a lot of other movies a few years later. Poltergeist, The Blob (1988), Spaceballs, Alien, Predator, Indiana Jones, Back to the Future, Robin Hood: Men in Tights, and Star Wars are the movies I remember most.

I just saw the ORIGINAL The Blob at a midnight show a few weeks ago! Quite a bit of 50s fun, one of the better 50s B-movies I've seen. It seemed really stupid when we were watching it, but it was followed by "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes" which made The Blob seem like a go******** masterpiece by comparison...

And, to bring this back around...

Does anyone remember a little-known Jim Henson movie called The Christmas Toy?

Are you my brother I didn't know I had lol

That's my childhood right there

Reading through the thread I was amazed no one had mentioned The Goonies and it was gonna be first on my list like yours

Funny story.
I never forget going to see The Land Before Time at the cinema with my mum and 2 sisters (I was 10 and my sisters were 7&5). At the end we got up and was walking out like everyone else. My mum was balling hers eyes out and everyone was looking at us and we kept telling my mum to stop it as it was embarrassing us lol (such a softy )

My whole family are film buffs and I swear I've seen like 90% of the movies made in the 80s and 90s.

There's only a couple of films in this thread I haven't seen (or don't remember)

Krull brings back memories of the glaive (read ninja star thingymabob)

I loved all the Disney films as well

I was lucky as a child and my parents really let us watch anything (unless it was really rude lol) age raitings didn't matter

A few of my favourites that I don't think have been mentioned was The sword in the stone, Lady and the tramp, Bedknobs & Broomsticks, Flight of the navigator, Wizard of OZ/Return to OZ, Tron, Honey I shrunk the kids, Adventures in babysitting, License to drive, Bill & ted movies, Wane's world, The lost boys, Stand by me, Gremlins, The burbs, The rollerboys, The Jaws films, The money pit, White men can't jump, Hear no evil see no evil, Stir crazy, Silver streak, Scrooged, Little shop of horrors, Caddyshack, stripes, Home alone films, One flew over the cuckoo's nest, Back to the future films, Life of brian...........

I could go on forever and I think I'm just gonna have to stop myself there

I also want to add -
Howard the Duck
The Adventures of Ford Fairlane
The Adventures of Baron Munchausen
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
The Toy (a Richard Pryor flick)
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Cyborg
Madhouse
War of the Roses
