What happened to Dinosaurs Island???
Archive: 31 posts
Ok I just was checking the "Most Hearted" page, the first level it took me to was Little Dead Space which is odd because that use to be the second most hearted level, then I did a bit of looking at it seems as though the level was moderated!!! =( I'm sure everyone on here had played this level before and I'm sure many people had it in their hearted aswell. I doubt the author, Feistyfrog deleted it because he hasn't played LBP in months. The last time I had checked the level had 123,000 hearts and +700,000 plays. This level was an inspiration to me and I'm sure it was to many others, a great piece of LBP history is now gone =( | 2009-09-18 05:06:00 Author: TheFirstAvenger Posts: 787 |

What? Really? I never even played it, i always wanted to but never did | 2009-09-18 16:10:00 Author: springs86 Posts: 785 |
Yup, it definetly got moderated. It isn't there, only parts 2 and 3 remain. I guess having such a popular level on lbp may not be the best thing, as many kids might stupidly good grief it. | 2009-09-18 19:15:00 Author: TheFirstAvenger Posts: 787 |
When a level is moderated you still can see it there, you just can't load it. If Dinosaur Island is NOT there it means Feisty Frog deleted it. . | 2009-09-18 20:21:00 Author: RangerZero Posts: 3901 |
One of my levels was moderated a few months ago. it was removed/deleted. all i got was a message saying it had been moderated. i lost it as mm doesnt give adequate profile size to save move than 1 level at a time. | 2009-09-19 00:17:00 Author: SteveBigGuns Posts: 423 |

I remember hearing stories of levels just being deleted automatically, they were moderated(think this is what happened to one of mrvista's level but I'm not sure). I have also heard and seen levels that were moderated... They were still online but there icon had been taken down. | 2009-09-19 00:48:00 Author: TheFirstAvenger Posts: 787 |
Sometimes they moderate the icons only. this happened to my mario ps3 level two days ago. I quickly made another sticker for the icon. It would seem mm are too lazy to check things before they moderate. | 2009-09-19 02:14:00 Author: SteveBigGuns Posts: 423 |
There definetely are levels that are moderated in the way I was talking about (the icon is removed, puck is still there and selectable but the level will never load). Now of course maybe Media Molecule DELETES the level but that would confirm there's multiple levels of moderation --- something I really doubt. Especially because there's no difference between a deleted and blocked level. . | 2009-09-19 05:58:00 Author: RangerZero Posts: 3901 |
Maybe someone should PM Feistyfrog | 2009-09-19 06:35:00 Author: JKthree Posts: 1125 |

Yep, gotta love how LBP's problems actually seem to gang up on you. | 2009-09-19 20:36:00 Author: Reef1978 Posts: 527 |

I have also heard and seen levels that were moderated... They were still online but there icon had been taken down. You're right. My Sheriff Sack level was moderated with no warning at all and it totally disappeared from published levels. Luckily I had copied it to my moon shortly before and published it again. I still have no idea why though because I have never been told. I have been informed by 'Spaff' that Mm have absolutely no dealings with moderating levels at all and it's all handled by Sony. Apparently if Sony get enough grief reports the level is automatically moderated and then looked at ( supposedly ) and if they find nothing wrong it's put back up or if something is wrong they are supposed to tell you what. That's the theory but it obviously doesn't work because I have never heard anything to this day. The usual reason for moderation is people uploading offensive photos apparently but that is completely wrong and Sony should simply have a method in place to remove that sort of thing as we have no control over it. It's a terrible system anyway. It should work the other way round. If they get grief reports they should look at the level first , tell you why, give you notice that it's going to be moderated if you don't make changes where required so you have chance to change it or copy it back to your moon and if you don't change it then, and only then, moderate it. It's disgraceful that a perfectly good level can be automatically removed just because a few kids take it upon themselves to be absolute prats. | 2009-09-19 22:16:00 Author: mistervista Posts: 2210 |
mm doesnt give adequate profile size to save move than 1 level at a time. Wha? I have 21 levels on my moon and no profile issues... | 2009-09-19 22:41:00 Author: ARD Posts: 4291 |
Wha? I have 21 levels on my moon and no profile issues... They must be pretty small levels. I can only have about 3/4 full levels before getting the message. | 2009-09-19 22:52:00 Author: comphermc Posts: 5338 |
They must be pretty small levels. I can only have about 3/4 full levels before getting the message. Quite a few of them are very thermo heavy levels. | 2009-09-19 22:53:00 Author: ARD Posts: 4291 |
Quite a few of them are very thermo heavy levels. I call shenanigans on having 21, then. Quite simply, the space required doesn't exist. I wish it would, but it doesn't. | 2009-09-19 23:08:00 Author: comphermc Posts: 5338 |
Wtf? This is ****, I've seen more badass murder levels not get moderaterd, Prolly for copy right and that i HIGHLY doubt. | 2009-09-19 23:47:00 Author: Adam9001 Posts: 744 |
Sony/MM really should rethink the whole Moderation process, Dinosaurs Island was a great level and one of the few that truly deserved to be on the Cool Levels back when they were all messed up (well more so than they are now). If this level got moderated I can only guess that Little Dead Space and the Unnoficial Costumes levels are the next to get the axe because they are now the 1st and 2nd most hearted levels on LBP. | 2009-09-20 07:57:00 Author: TheFirstAvenger Posts: 787 |
Hmm....such a shame. That level was part of LBP heritage. It was also the first level I ever played outside of story mode. I'm guessing russelsmuscles and his cronies (or some similar rogue faction) ganged up together to good grief it out of spite, jealousy or malice. I wonder though, how many "good griefs" does it take before a level gets moderated? Could one person "good grief" the same level many times and make the mud stick, or does your good grief only count once? | 2009-09-20 13:19:00 Author: Ungreth Posts: 2130 |

I do know that if you abuse the Good Grief system, you yourself will be dealt with. Also, russelsmuscles doesn't have cronies - he's too unlikable of a person. I'm guessing he just uses his multiple accounts. | 2009-09-20 13:28:00 Author: SLS10 Posts: 1129 |
I call shenanigans on having 21, then. Quite simply, the space required doesn't exist. I wish it would, but it doesn't. I do have 21. At least, I have 21 on my beta moon, and I haven't used any new slots (only deleted old levels and used those, which means I have 21 on my normal save, no? | 2009-09-20 13:32:00 Author: ARD Posts: 4291 |
^ how do you get enough space for 21 levels on your moon? I was given the profile full message with only two thermo heavy levels and one workbench area on my moon. You sleeping with an MM executive or something? | 2009-09-20 13:44:00 Author: Ungreth Posts: 2130 |
I have plenty of large levels on my moon as well. Everytime I create a new level I save multiple copies on my moon in case one fails to load or I want to see how a different version would look like. I'd say there are at least 15 levels on my moon that take up 3/4 of the thermometer. I have very few community objects and saved costumes though. | 2009-09-20 13:51:00 Author: Syroc Posts: 3193 |

I have about 8 full thermo levels on my moon with very few community objects, saved photos or costumes. I have been getting the message recently though so I must be touching the limit. On - Topic: This level was one of the first to be fixed onto the cool pages before the new system arrived. It was one of the more deserving levels no doubt. | 2009-09-20 13:56:00 Author: Killian Posts: 2575 |

Unless anyone can come up with a better theory as to why I have only 2 and a half saved levels and a full profile message already. (In my poppit I have around 30 custom made stickers, 20 captured objects, and 5 saved costumes, but no community items at all). Maybe the fact I've bought every DLC pack available has someting to do with it. Does DLC drain your profile space, or does it have it's own storage space? | 2009-09-20 14:08:00 Author: Ungreth Posts: 2130 |
Nope, DLC doesn't affect you profile space. Try deleting a few of you costumes. (Or wait for the next patch, in which they will increase the profile space.) | 2009-09-20 14:44:00 Author: Syroc Posts: 3193 |

So, are you saying that saved costumes can become a major profile killer then? I'll try it and see if it makes any difference, although it's hard to see how how deleting a few costumes would free up enough space to build several new levels. Edit: Sorry for taking the topic off on a tangent. Last post now...I promise. | 2009-09-20 14:50:00 Author: Ungreth Posts: 2130 |
It says so in the pop-up message. "Try deleting custom costumes, community objects, community photos" Or something like that. It definitely helps deleting costumes, because I had the message for awhile and after I deleted I could save again. | 2009-09-20 15:16:00 Author: Syroc Posts: 3193 |
Well, I have zero costume saved, maybe 10 objects and like 4-5 community objects. I have around 4-5 stickers made with the ingame tool. Zero community pictures. As you can see I don't have much stuff and yet my moon can only contain 6 full thermo levels. . | 2009-09-20 17:34:00 Author: RangerZero Posts: 3901 |
Lol, why did the thread go way off topic. Anyways, I messages Feistyfrog yesterday asking him about his level, I haven't gotten a response yet, doubt I will to be honest. I remember sending him a message months ago when Dinosaurs Island had just barely crossed the 100,000 hearts mark congradulating him on having the first level to do so. I personally believe he stopped playing LBP months ago as all the levels he has hearted are months old. | 2009-09-20 17:51:00 Author: TheFirstAvenger Posts: 787 |
It's sad that they got deleted in the first place, say what you want about them but they are LBP classics in my opinion. They were very important a while back and created with care by Feistyfrog. Wether he deleted them himself or they got deleted by sony, I don't know. | 2009-09-24 05:44:00 Author: Zwollie Posts: 2173 |
