Chrome update?

Archive: 22 posts

I was just browsing some custom brushes for PS, but then the browser lagged a bit and the address/search bar would not work. eventually it did and...
viola! Whenever you start typing something, It'll bring up some icons next to the items it lists, to show if it is a website or search. on the bottom it asks if you want to bring up history.

Also when you click "new tab" it brings up a whole new "most viewed" window.

Much more sleek, and also it has keyboard shortcuts (http://www.google.com/support/chrome/bin/answer.py?answer=95743&ctx=tip).

I am surprised it didn't take a restart of the browser...

It's always done the "Most Visited" new tab page for me, though I've never seen the icons in the address bar that you are talking about. I don't think that Chrome has updated, I think that you may have accidentally somehow changed some features of it through the settings and tools menus.2009-09-16 01:54:00

Interesting. In that case, mine simply hasn't updated yet. Sorry for doubting you.

I thought something like that may have been the issue, so I downloaded the most recent version straight off of Google. Everything is exactly the same as it was before, no fancy highlighting of the "Most Visited" page or icons in the address bar.

It just kicked in, looks great.

It's strange how randomly it happened though.

I've had these features for some time now as I'm on the developer version, but it was a nice touch. It's also nice to finally have themes which I'm pretty sure are still lacking in the stable release. 2009-09-16 18:25:00

It might just be me, but Chrome feels like pages aren't loading nearly as quick and it's taking longer to start up. For example, I've never actually watched a page load before, normally it just came up. Now I can see individual pieces loading up. Of course I really have nothing "tangible" to compare it too because I can't revert to the previous version, but is there anyway to go back?2009-09-16 20:05:00

Have you guys tried out the themes? It's like Gmail themes.

But after this update I can't load any pages. But in Firefox it's fine.

I had issues with loading pages at some point and turned off the option to use DNS fetching which seemed to solve the problem. However, I run Chrome on two different computers and have never had the issue with pages not loading on the second machine and DNS fetching - as it's never been an issue in that case - is running fine.

Not quite sure...

Try going into the "About Google Chrome" section under "Customize and control Google Chrome" (the wrench). Should kick off an update if it's available...
