Hi, folks!

Introducing my latest lvl. plz be gentle

Description - Sack and Professor X are searching for Dinosuar fossils in the large cavern. What will be waiting for them? You need to play to get the answer. This lvl will bring you into the large cave with many dangerous traps and creatures. It will take you at least 10 mins to go through. So be ready!

Boss tips: watch the boss's pattern before jump to the fight

What did people say about this this lvl?

"Best things: the boss battle was cool and I really liked the use of layers in your level. It was well thought out."

"I love the fossils you've made, they feel cartoony yet realistic, really well done"

"Great fun level with a cool style"

"Wah wah wee wahhhhhh!"

"It has that visuals it is awesome!!! There are really great elements: the rotating wheels with thorns - the usage of the 3 layer to create nice passages is very good - the boss fight is pure fun. This level is a clear "must play" to me."

"The level seems to be out of MM studios, you quite got the vibe."

"pretty great level you got there awesome scenery and classic gameplay brought me back to the times when i was first trying to complete the meerkat kingdom, lol"

"This level was a blast to play! The style was definitely reminiscent of MM's level. It felt like it combined the wedding, the canyons, and the savanna very well! But it also felt like you kept originality! I really liked that! The way you hid the secrets was also really nice. The pacing was good and the boss at the end was fun!"

"This level had it all, it had climbing, gliding, swinging, riding, shooting, bossfighting (just Keeping the word's with -ing). The environment looked really cool and especially the fossiles"

"The layering designs you used added interest to the gameplay and almost all the enemies were custom made, which were fantastic!"

"It definitely had the feel of the story levels and played just as good too. The Boss was my favorite part"

I'm going to play your level, and edit this post to include a review. In the meantime, may I ask you review my level, "Snowy Plains"?

EDIT: Aww, it won't connect to the LBP servers. I'll probably do it half an hour later or tomorrow.

Just played this for F4F and I really had a good time. I love the fossils you've made, they feel cartoony yet realistic, really well done.
Lots of things to do and places to go past so kudos on that too.

Only real complaints was some layer problems, a few more materials would have been nice (or at least some more decorations) and I wasn't keen on some of the places the enemies were placed [hard to jump in some of the areas around them].

Four stars and a heart

Thanks for the feedback.
I ran through the lvl many times but i couldn't find it T-T Could you tell me exactly where the layer problem is? So i can fix it.
I use only few material and decorations because it fits the theme and the atmosphere well. But let me see if i can add a few more things

Thx again

I've just played it. Here's my review:
The beginning was okay, but after a while it got quite boring. There were some nice obstacles, and the YEAH! block was clever. You had lamps hanging in the front layer, and that wasn't nice because in a lot of levels lamps are used as things to swing on, so when you put lamps like that it seems like there's something to swing on, so you try and swing onto it and end up falling into the pit.

I liked the part where you had to grab the bomb and jump to the other side, though, that was really clever. And the rotating blue circles somewhere midway in the level.

Conclusion: In my opinion, it had some good obstacles, it just wasn't very fun to play.

Pros:
- Nice use of emitters
- The background looks nice
- The part after the cave was nice
- Some clever obstacles
- The YEAH! blocks were a clever idea, but sometimes it would take a few pulls to get them out.

Cons:
- It got quite boring after a while
- In my opinion, the caverns were too small
- There were a lot of layer bugs (sometimes Sackboy would switch to the wrong layer).
- The lamps in the front layer

Three stars.

Could you please review "Captain Vernad" for me? It's a Work In Progress, so I didn't create a thread for it yet. I made it before I made snowy plains, but I got bored with making it. Just search for "Captain Vernad" or search for my PSN "robinlint". Please put the review in the Snowy Plains thread or PM it to me

So, I was able to check your level.

I'm allways looking for fresh and unique levels but this one reminds me defenitely to an official LBP-In-Game-Style Level. And hell yes, even if it has that visuals it is awesome!!!

There are really great elements: the rotating wheels with thorns - the usage of the 3 layer to create nice passages is very good - the boss fight is pure fun. This level is a clear "must play" to me.

I think that there are only a few things that could need some sort of fixing: I noticed some still visible stuff that has been forgotten to turn into invisible (1 day-night-circle emitter, 1 sensor and 1 speaker). And I noticed that the info-man is not completely gone after he drops down at one point: he is lying in the gas, maybee turn him into a spawnt-item and set the time to desolve. One question due to the ride in the tipper truck (wagon): is this your intention that the prize-bubble is only reachable with the cost of a player-life? Because there was no wagon to come so I have to kill myself to spawn a new wagon.

After all, a really cute level with a great touch of detail - lots of stickers and a really nice gameplay.

:star::star::star::star: and a well deserved heart

Great work!

Thanks for letting me know you idea of turning the info man into a price. right now i only made it gone, and turned those switches invisible (totally forgot )
About the wagon-price, that's my intention. I want to make pp think that oh crap, what am i gonna do..... It's just my thing that love to see pp die without notice I think you experienced it 2-3 times when you ran through my lvl HaHa!

Again, Thank you

Thx, man

I gotta admit that it's boring in the laser driller machine part (because I just wanna show off the vehicle )
About the lamb, if you have enough numbers of play, you will know instantly that the type of lamb i use is not grab-able. But let me see what I can do about it.
And I still have no idea where the layer bug is T-T

Woah!
We have quite a good level here!
I finally had the time to play it and I had so much fun.
The level seems to be out of MM studios, you quite got the vibe.
The level is very long, and the platforming is good.

I absolutely loved the little monster and the characters overall.

If I have to nitpick, I would suggest you to make the section that block the path with dissolve, you can just move them to a mag switch that dissolves them, since sometimes they get in the way.
Another "problem" is the cart section, it looks really bland, and it's a pity since your level is quite rich.
BUt I also can figure that your thermo is on the verge of exploding, so, switches and angles are your worst enemies since you have a good amount of emitted stuff.

Overall this is a wonderful level and I rate it 5 stars.
Please F4F my level: Run For Your Freedom, thanks!

Okay I played this level as F4F and I must say I'm impressed.

You say this is your first level? **** you really have some skill in creating a good level.

My only small complaint would be that halfway through the level you could see a sound effect emitter, I suggest making that invisible.

Best things: the boss battle was cool and I really liked the use of layers in your level. It was well thought out.

I didn't really like some things like the mechanical tank with laser at the end as I felt it was a bit out of place in such a level and not really in line with the visuals of the cave.

Rated 4 stars, I'm impressed with what you've done as your first level !

Hey! Thanks for leaving feedback on Festival of Lights. Here's my part of the F4F deal.

I really enjoyed this level. You struck a good balance between the platforming being precise and picky, and the level flowing well - it gave the level a good, constant level of difficulty. I particularly loved the mine cart that you have to jump out of at the last second in order to survive! I'm so used to playing LBP levels with "hold R1/do nothing to win" vehicle segments that I practically put my controller down, which in this level got me killed. I liked that, kept me on my toes for the rest of the level.

Really the only two criticisms I have are:

1. There's one part with two grabbable rollers over some red smoke. It's kinda not obvious when you look at it, but staying "grabbed on" to the second roller when it pulls you down and beneath it will sometimes get you killed. If this is a glitch, maybe lower the smoke a bit? If this is intentional, maybe raise it (Possibly even partially covering the bottom of the roller) to make it more obvious that you can't go down there?

2. There's another part with a mechanism of platforms on a conveyer belt that let you ride up and over the top - similar to the machines seen in the Story Mode's Canyons levels. You did a great job in creating secret prize bubbles and hidden paths, so I figured there might be something down there if I rode it past the path... and I just got stuck down in the fire and died. Maybe put a reward of some kind down there?

Overall, this was a great level, and I had fun playing it. The boss fight had a good rhythm, and the laser machine was very cool. :star::star::star::star: and hearted!

Hi! This level was a blast to play! The style was definitely reminiscent of MM's level. It felt like it combined the wedding, the canyons, and the savanna very well! But it also felt like you kept originality! I really liked that! The way you hid the secrets was also really nice. The pacing was good and the boss at the end was fun! There were 2 problems though.
1) About halfway through the level at the section where the ceiling is trying to crush you and the "safe" area has a coffin sticker. There is a blue sound speaker that is visible.
2) At the boss, after shooting it for a while, The stickers on the boss disappear and the boss somehow becomes blank dissolve? I'm slightly confused as to how this happened.
Other than these problems the level was fun and a blast! Hope to see more.

I played through this. It was good fun and made me laugh too. Great work! If this really is your first level, this is an impressive debut.

As others have said, the use of layers is very well thought-out and complex. I find this very hard to do, so I'm impressed with what you managed here. I'm surprised how much you managed to pack in overall... there's a lot to do in this level.

small problems I saw: as DOUK_NOUK_KEM said, the rollers over the red gas kill you if you hold onto them. Maybe you wanted it like that, but I wasn't expecting it. Also, I didn't realise I had to jump at the end of the mine cart ride- perhaps put a sign there?
Small other thing: I spotted a visible mag switch and speaker on the Razorgelien.

looking forward to the next one

My intention on the rollers was to have you walk on them. I used to the grabable material because it easier to walk on when it's rolling. But I fixed it as you and Tig-W said
It's my thing that want people to die without notice. I love it when people thinks that "oh crap. i'm screwed" you found those trap 3-4 times in my lvl. The convey belt is one of them

Thanks for the feedback!

I tried to make it like you are playing the story lvls. that's the reason why it looks alike.
speaker has been invisible-d.
The stickers on the boss issue i don't think i can fixed it. It's how the game made (i guess) the less stickers on the boss means it getting close to die.

thanks again! I will retuen f4f asap

Great job on this level man, first time I wanted to try it i couldn't find it, but now im glad I finally did This level had it all, it had climbing, gliding, swinging, riding, shooting, bossfighting (just Keeping the word's with -ing). The environment looked really cool and especially the fossiles. I didn't really like the neon arrows, they just didn't seem to fit in the theme. I had no problems/glitches or anything, everything worked perfectly and smooth, great job on that! The boss fight looked cool, but it would be cooler if you didn't have to shoot on the head a gazillion times but on something else, bosses you have to shoot with the paintinator are becoming such a cliche.. You however did pull it off by adding some variation to it, but in the end you were still shooting the boss itself :

I gave this level a well deserved 5 Stars Cute Heart, great job man!

I believe you already gave feedback on mine, so f4f is done

great level, very well done. I have to say I was playing the mines (Mm's level) right before i played this level and some parts were very similar. The layering designs you used added interest to the gameplay and almost all the enemies were custom made, which were fantastic! The boss though, lol!! A giant skull with a mowhawk surrounded by poisonous gas and bombs dropping AND SHOOTING POINSON GHOSTS!! lol awesome.

hearted you as a creator and the level.

Good job sixth, your level was great. It definitely had the feel of the story levels and played just as good too. The Boss was my favorite part, props to you for programming that thing. I thought the level was a little too long and too easy. Also i had to beat the same two obstacles a bunch of times because there wasn't a check point around them, but nothing to warrent an edit of the level.

Five stars from me.

Hi, chazbell

Thanks for the good feedback.
The reason that I only placed a checkpoint at almost every one set of obstacles because I think my lvl is not that hard. All you need to do is just paying a little attention while you are playing it. If I placed it everywhere, it would be too easy.
At the first place, the boss was really hard and so frustrated. People complained a lot about it. it's such a pain tuning the boss because I couldn't remember which switch does what T-T. After trial & error like a hundred time, people finds it's pure fun with no more frustration. Thanks for those feedback.

Hi, hollywood.

I'm glad you love it. it really cheers me up when I read the compliments about my lvl
Again, I admit that my lvl was inspired by story lvls because I want to make a story-like lvl. But If you can really see what I did on this lvl, you will see it's totally different in gameplay. It has its own layering, custom monster, obstacles, and especially the boss.

Thanks for the feedback, guys

-jaw drops-
This has got to be one of the best levels I've played! Mad props man!!
Visual is beyond superb.
(just wondering in one part, are the score bubbles suppose to get stuck when I'm grabbing the "YEAH" object?, because it didn't drop everything lol.)

But man, I wish I can make these kind of platform levels. It's actually really really good.
The bomb part took awhile though but I like the idea behind it.

:star::star::star::star::star:
It sure has alot of plays, but it definitely deserved it!

Hey. I played your level today and at first I thought that it's just another mine-level but soon I understood why you were that thrifty with your decoration.

Your level is huge!

The gameplay is great and sometimes really surprising - but some parts are really difficult (I would add some extra checkpoints, or "infinite lifes checkpoints").
Your use of the 3 layers is also brilliant (i love those hidden paths).

Conclusion: Great gameplay but definitely too difficult for newbies and people without a lot of time.

Greetings, Anna

Yeah, nice job with the artwork on this level! I also liked how you utilized the 3 planes, and jumping between them. It always seemed like I had many options in which direction I went too. . . these are things that make for an impressive level. Any critisisms I have for this level would be that at times it seemed a bit scattered, very eclectic mix of obstacles and doodads. But it was of course overall an impressive level and it looks like we can expect great levels to be coming from you in the future.2009-10-01 18:18:00

The reason i didn't use many infinite checkpoint because it's not that hard (some guy thinks it's easy) you just have to play carefully, not only run and jump and die.
But if you think it's too hard, let me know which part it needs to use inf chckpt.

Thanks for you feedback, Anna
