Weird PSN message...

Archive: 8 posts

Okay...I just got a weird message on my PSN account from someone called PS-MW2Codellllll. The message says that I've been chosen to take part in the Modern Warfare 2 closed multiplayer beta. What's odd is I never signed up for anything, nor do I even have the first Modern Warfare. It wants my PSN password I think... what do I do? (I'm almost positive this is a scam)2009-09-14 08:17:00

Of course it's a scam.

On a sort of related note I'm sure they said they aren't doing a multiplayer beta.

I'm 300% sure it's a scam, and you can send them a message back telling them to take it somewhere else. The "llllll" at the end of their name is a dead giveaway that they have multiple accounts and are trying to spam people. Also, Sony sends most of it's beta/trial work through email.2009-09-14 10:58:00

The fact that they're asking for a password is a giveaway to me

Your password is never required to enter a beta. Any statistics that could help your chances of getting into a beta are publicly available, and to recieve the beta client you're always sent a code rather than you sending anything to them.

Ah, thanks. As I said, I wasn't sure if there had been some kind of mistake, and they had mistakenly contacted me, or (duh) a scam.2009-09-14 16:52:00
