Please help a retard, newbie with an asthetcus question

How do u creaters change the way the ground or floor appears? What I mean is that if u start creating a level with a blank backround, the "floor" of the level is light brown and has a smooth, rounded front edge. Now I can find no way to change this floor, but mist of the levels I see have a different floor or ground.

How is this accomplished? I'm sure it's simple but I sm just having a major brain cramp on how this is done. If you're not sure what I'm talking about I will try to explain it better.

Thanks.

You're not a retard :kz:

anyway, go to tools, go to the right a couple pages to global settings. There should be a few bars (mist, color, fog, w/e). I think this is what you're looking for.

If you want to change it mid level, go to the global thing in tools, next to emitter. That should work.

Though you can't change the color of the background/ ground without changing the tint of the entire level- ah well, most "serious" levels don't allow you to view that anyway

Like Rock said, you're not a retard.

I think what you're looking for is just normal material. A lot of creators have this thing about not seeing the floor of the level, so they prop up their creation on blocks of a material of their choice, giving it a different floor look.

A) Change the background.

B)Make a level in mid air with diffrent materials for a diffrent look, then hold it up with dark matter.

ah - beaten by Adam - good advice.

Don't start your level on the floor if you don't want the tan material to show. Go up a little way from the floor in the level, take a big rectangle of whatever material you want the floor to be, put some dark matter below it to hold it up and you now have a floor of your choosing. Just don't forget to move the beginning checkpoint up to the new floor level.

Ok. I thought it was something like thls but I thought making an entire new " floor" would really eat into the thermo. Thanks guys. I'll give it a shot.2009-09-13 22:28:00

The actual floor also changes when any background other than Blank is selected. The floor, while still flat, becomes integrated into the environment of whichever BG you select. You may also have seen these. Still, many creators prefer not to build from the floor (partially because once you accidentally glue something to the floor, ungluing it can become troublesome).2009-09-14 00:20:00
