Using a keyboard in the tweak menu.

Archive: 13 posts

Why can't we use a USB Keyboard, or the keypad to set options in the tweak menu like length, speed etc. Its tedious when you have sit and wait for it to count up to 999.9, especially if you need three of four pistons doing the same thing.

A simple press of a few numbers on a keyboard will do the job great and save a lot of time.

I agree. There are usually ways to avoid it by moving the object to around the distance needed first but not if it has to go behind something.2009-09-13 13:15:00

That would be a pretty good idea. Not as good as your one, since that's so precise; but a double tap of the left or right button, sends you to the start or finish of the slider.2009-09-13 13:30:00

Or a double tap goes up by 100? That would be better in my oppinion.

I'm going to completely expand upon what you just said and say that LittleBigPlanet would be immensely easier to create in with full keyboard and mouse support. Drawing objects with a click of the mouse, pressing hotkeys to open up certain tools, number pad to input valid numbers, etc would be fantastic. I can see pressing "c" to open up the corner editor, "f" for the fill tool, arrow keys that work like the D-pad does, and enter to start or end selections. I would pay for that kind of support.2009-09-13 17:35:00

Agreed with BSprague completely - Having a keyboard and mouse with PS3, and using it for create mode in LBP could/would immensely help people with making levels, whether it be logic or aesthetics.

Perhaps you should be able to hotkey your own functions? (You choose what does what), although thats asking for a bit much :/

Perhaps F1, F2 etc. could change the grid size/no grid?

Like goldenclaw13 asid, being able to create hotkeys would save LOADS of time creating.

Having to pop up the popit and then cycle through the options open through the tabs... cycle through the tabs.... scrolling down the popit.... it's just all so time consuming.

Just pressing M will open the music tab or C will let you select the corner editor or something.

Ofcourse some might argue that cycling through the popit and finding the objects are part of the fun of creating...... but I like to build things fast

There was a thread about this a few months ago. At the time, I really thought it was a ridiculous idea and didn't see the average player benefitting from, or using this option to it's full extent without having the creation aspect seeming more convoluted.

The more I've thought about it the more I have to agree that mouse and keyboard control options would really be an asset to this game. Still, I doubt it will be implemented as part of our creative arsenal.

Unfortunately my gut feeling agrees with you, but, I just don't see why they wouldn't make it an option? We can already use our keyboards for text, so why not fully utilize them? It would be nice to see this in create mode .. but I wouldn't use k&m for anything else in the game.

There's all these small things that we need that shouldn't be that hard to implement. But it would make playing LBP so much easier 2009-09-21 20:24:00

I contemplated buying this a while back, but got put off by the absolutely ridiculous price tag. It basically allows you to remap the PS3 controls to a keyboard and mouse.

XFPS Rate up (http://www.amazon.co.uk/XFPS-RATEUP-KEYBOARD-ADAPTER-PLAYSTATION/dp/B0013WI4L6)

There's also this, but I was unsure whether or not you're able to edit the configuration, so without trying it out first it's a no go.

FragFX V.2 (http://www.splitfish.com/?uid=4nkpfqinh2cvv3t0)

If I get lucky on the lottery, I'll try them out and let you know lol.
