I was just wondering if anyone is as hyped as I am for God Of War III?

It was originally going to come out in December 1st but has now been delayed to March 2010, i think this is because of the God Of War collection.( God of war I & II remade with HD graphics and trophy support ) The God Of War collection will come with a demo for God Of War III, one of the many reasons to buy this magnificent game!

Tell me what you think please!

Here is an awesome video:

I spent a while shopping around trying to find the original I and II for PS2 a few months ago, and now they are going to re-release them.

Ah well, I actually haven't had a chance to load them up anyway.

I played the PSP game a bit before my PSP broke. It's quite a violent game, often going a bit beyond my threshold. Ah well, maybe I'll spin the PS2 games up and see if they are worth further investment.

So it was the violence that got you... not the adult mini-game?

I love God of War's storyline. I love the brutal take on ancient mythology.

But call me crazy - I was never that big on the gameplay. For real. I hate the "quick time events" in the game - "press SQUARE!! ...PRESS TRIANGLE!!". There's a lot of crate-pushing and backtracking puzzles. And I tend to get seriously "combat fatigued" playing that game, just fighting wave after wave after wave of enemies.

What it does amazingly well is set-pieces. Every game so far has had absolutely spectacular set-pieces throughout the games. Whether it's climbing on a Titan or taking down a Colossus, fighting a hydra from a ship in a storm, descending into Hades and climbing on Atlas holding up the world. Just absolutely full of incredible, epic, awe-inspiring set-pieces. This plus an interesting story keep me interested, but again, I was never that big on the actual gameplay.

Those were bad as well. I don't really like the idea of in game rewards for promiscious behaivour. But the violence is more constant and unavoidable. It's not so bad bashing skeletons, but when you see internal organs falling out of living creatures, it's not a good thing.

I know it's over the top and all that, and real melee combat can be a brutal and bloody affair, but that does not mean one has to like it, or try and maximise camera angles to get as much violence and blood on screen as possible.

Yeah, God of War's violence is pretty over the top. Sometimes I can't help but laugh at it actually - I walked in one time and people were playing God of War. I couldn't see the screen, but I heard it. Lots of heavy male grunting, chains slashing around, squishes, sloshes, tearing, screaming. It was just over the top. It didn't even matter what was on the screen. When I eventually looked it was something like entrails being ripped out of a manticore or a cyclops having his eye gauged out or wings being torn off a harpy. Basically, something was being torn out of someone. It's just ridiculous.

Although I do like the brutal nature of the story itself. The actual Greco-Roman myths were mercilessly brutal, just gut-wrenchingly, heart-breakingly horrific. They certainly don't sugarcoat any of that in the game.

But I agree that the CONSTANT bloodletting does get to be a bit much.
