Six months in the making but it's finally done. It's my second level that actually has a story, and the reason its taken me this long to finish is because I've redone almost every section at least once until I was happy with it.

As you may guess from the title and description, the level follows the events of the end of the first book, as Harry (in this case, Sacky), Ron and Hermione go through the trapdoor and encounter a series of obstacles. It doesn't matter if you haven't read any of the books or seen the films (although you really should). The level is mainly about the story, but I've tried to get quite a few interesting gameplay elements in there too.

But this isn't the only level I've published today. There's also a locked bonus level, which you'll find the key for right at the start of the main one. It has six step-by-step tutorials showing you how to make costumes for different characters (Harry, Ron, Hermione, Malfoy, Snape and Dumbledore). However, each tutorial requires a sticker to gain entrance. Five of the stickers are hidden throughout the main level and the sixth is a reward if you ace it. I'd recommend turning community prizes on if you want to take a look at the costume level (and its not just a rushed thing either, I put a lot of time into it too).

I hope you enjoy it, and any feedback would be great.

Oh, and another thing - I'm open to name suggestions for the next level (this will hopefully be a seven part series). It'll need to be Sacky Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, but with either the word 'Chamber' or 'Secrets' replaced with something more LBP related.

Special thanks goes to:
- gm9218 and BasketSnake for helping test the level and give me lots of ideas & suggestions.
- MikLSP for making the cupboards you can see in the common room, which are given away for free in his Shopping Centre level.

It looks fantastic. I will edit with some feedback.

------

Simply put, perfect. I really can't find a single thing that I'd change in the level.

+Brilliant design
+Attention to detail is astounding
+The staircase!!! Must've taken ages.
+Lighting
+Humor
+Faithful to the original (for the most part)
+Unique final boss. Not too hard, but very well done.

-some of the point bubbles emitted into the fire after the chess part. Ruined a possible combo. (yeah, that's the only thing I could find wrong with it)

This is really one of my favorite levels now. When I show someone littlebigplanet for the first time, I will show them this. I played it twice and got the top score (assuming brnxblze doesn't best me when he finishes). Thanks for sharing! I hope this becomes a series, as you handled it so well.

Everyone go play this NOW!

5 stars, beautiful, hearted.

------

I also checked out your costume level. I had prizes off, but the costume level is probably one of the best looking I've seen. It seemed like an actual extension of the Sacky Potter level. Nicely done. It also got 5 stars.

Yeah, I know about those bubbles. You can still get them all in a single combo by running in front of the fire, but I might change it so the fire is sloped a bit more so they roll back down towards you.

Thanks for the feedback, and I'm pleased you like it. The staircase was also the first thing I made when I was messing about with ideas for the level, and I build the rest around it.

Thanks. I actually only changed the piano a couple of days agao - originally you just jumped on it, but I modified it so you could run along it.

I've seen this a couple times a few weeks back or so. I'm curious if you did anything about my suggestions.

Well, I did build a fence in the Devil's Snare part to stop you jumping on the plants. It worked quite nicely too. But then I got rid of those stairs which collapsed (everyone always went left first so they were pointless and annoying) and the fence wasn't really needed. I've improved the area a lot though, so that rather than falling and getting stuck you hit some lethal gas instead.

Thanks to the suggestions and helping test it though. It really helped.

Awesome level! Perfect work!!

I really love everything about it!
the visuals, the atmosphere and the lightings are fantastic!
Favorite parts were the stairs and the 3 head dog! Just awesome!

:star::star::star::star::star: + heart + heart as a creator

Just 1 very little thing :
in the flying keys section, the key that falls is in the same layer as the paintinator.
If it falls on the left of the paintinator, it's not practical to drag it to the "door" cause the paintinator is in the way,
so the sackboy just ungrab the key to take the gun....
Maybe you should move the paintinator to the back (or front) layer...

Wow this level is really great! It was really funny and I liked every part about it especially the race and the "boss battle". I really hope you make a Sacky Potter for Chamber of Secrets .

Edit: The only thing I can really nitpick is that (if I recall correctly) the grabbable part of the treasure isn't stickered correctly.

Well, my son and I both played this today, and it was outstanding.

+ Fabulous visuals. The lighting was near perfection. The design was artistic and very true to the source material.
+ Excellent LBP interpretation of the story line. Well done!
+ Treasure!
+ The staircase section was spot on!
+ The piano and the Dog = Fantastic!
+ The garden was brilliant!
+ Awesome, challenging boss.
+ Humor throughout (this is always a pleasure).

Hard to find much to nitpick about this.
- Agree with the earlier point about the paintinator. Easy fix to move it to the front plane.
- During the boss, trying to shift planes backwards often caused me to jump into the line of fire. Not much to be done about this, but was a teensy bit frustrating.
- Was able to get up behind the boss at the end, and seemed like he was not held own in any way. I didn't, but I wonder if it would be possible to push him over and down the steps?
- The first room is so beautifully made, but there's not much to do here, so no reason to stay long (unless I'm missing something). Perhaps incorporate a puzzle or some secret grab switches on the bed coverings?

Really, except for the point about the paintinator, all my other nitpicks are so very trivial. I had to think long and hard to come up with those!
Altogether a marvelous level and a joy to play!

:star::star::star::star::star: a Heart and a Brilliant tag from both me and my son (well, he may have actually tagged it different, but a positive tag nonetheless).

I liked the part with all the plants. A lot of detail went into this.

But on the end if you jump down the stair case from spawn, you will automatically go into the back layer and hit gas and die. Got a bit annoying when I just wanted to jump around.

I'm guessing the thermometer blew up but an extra stage on the boss might be cool.

Loved the level, since almost everything that is good about the level has been said, I'll just gives you my thoughts on what I didn't like...which was little minor details.

-Didn't really like the stickers on the portraits, I thought it would have been alot more special if you put pictures of you in different Wizard costumes on the portraits.

-The prizes, didn't really see the need for most of them, I'm mean do we really need a picture of a character as a prize? seemed kinda tacky to me.

-The length of the level, I thought it was a bit short. But it's ok since I prefer Quality over Quantity.

Overall, I was really happy with the level, I thought you did a great job! 4 Stars and a heart. =)

I'll respond to that by saying that the stickers for the characters are used to access the costume tutorials for the level that is linked by the key in the first room. They make perfect sense, actually.2009-09-13 05:11:00

It's quite some time since you started to sport a sig for this project.
I was quite meh about it, since I usually don't like movie or game adaptation in LBP world.
I think that very few have understood how to make things work, since it's essential to understand the spirit, the core of the "opus" you're remaking.
CaptainCowboy delivered with the Princess series the spirit of Mario platforming, while you NuclearFish have delivered a wonderful opus with good gameplay, stunning visuals and fidelity with the original story.

For me, this one is a real masterpiece, an istant classic, one of those level that sets the bar higher.
I bow my head and give you only 5 stars.
I don't know if you're going to release the other chapters, but you ought to know that at least someone is waiting for them

Thanks, as always or the great feedback. I'm so pleased you all like it.

Origianlly I had the paintinator on the back layer (and it wasn't there at first but dropped fown as you said "Accio Paintinator!"), but I found that everyone who helped test it remained on the back layer to shoot. Obviously after a while thy realised nothing was happenning and change to the middle layer, but I thought it might be better if it already starts on the correct layer you need to be on.

I'll have a look at changing it back, or maybe even removing the paintinator after you've shot the key down. Thanks for the feedback.

- Hmm. I suppose you just get used after a few goes. The trick is not to jump except when you're going up the steps, and to take it slowly so you change layers when he briefly stops. Best to be on the middle layer when going up the steps too. But as you say, not much can be done about it.
- Don't worry, you can't push him down the stairs. There's some invisble string attaching him to the floor, so he'll move a bit, but won't fall over.
- I might add a few more hidden bubbles in that first room. I agree there's not really very much to do there.

But on the end if you jump down the stair case from spawn, you will automatically go into the back layer and hit gas and die. Got a bit annoying when I just wanted to jump around.

I put the gas there to try and prvent accidental jumping into that back layer (there's a little ledge on the socreboard and pillars which you always landed on otherwise). I'll try and see if there's anyhting I can do to make it better.

I think I might go and change all the stickers on the portraits like you said. Seeing a big monkey head doesn't really fit the theme, does it?

And as comphermc said, the stickers are used in the costume level to unlock the tutorials. I don' know if it'd be worth having some character menion that in the main level, but I don't really want to distratc from the storyline.

EDIT: Plasmavore, I like it!

Unfortunately I'm too lazy and too slow a typer to write everything that is awesome about this level, but you did a phenomenal job! Every part of the lvl surprised me. When fluffy started walking with the piano, I was amazed. The part with the stairs was genius too. And the chess part, the devil's snare, everything was beutifully crafted and had a perfect Harry Potter theme. JK Rolling would be proud

The few things I didn't like were:

As endless echo said, the prizes. I think you should have put in simple but cool stuff like the point bubble chest, or the chess piece creatures.

The pictures, I think they should've been pics of sackpeople in colorful wizard outfits, and the creature eyes kinda looked too wierd and goofy for me.

The chest after the chess pieces, some of the points fall into the fire.

Needs more secret rooms, I think you only put in one or two, like the picture in your post. It'd make your level a lot more like a harry potter video game.

The chess pieces should move at the same speed, because sometimes they would bunch up and I would have to wait like a minute for them to spread out.

And, the layer issue with the final boss really annoyed me, plus you can just jump in the back layer and cheat. I think you should put invisible rubber strips in the back to stop people from cheating, and put an invisible sheet of rubber over the stairs so it looks like your sack is walking up stairs but its a nifty ramp.

In my opinion, these would be simple things to fix or change that would add a ton to the level. Nonetheless, 5 stars, and I wish I could heart you more than once lol

EDIT: I thought of a cool idea that would make the costume tutorial stickers more interesting, or you could use it for sacky potter two, but i think it would be cool if like dinosaurs island you have to collect 6 chocalate frogs, or six shiny wizard cards, that unlock you the stickers at the end of the level

As endless echo said, the prizes. I think you should have put in simple but cool stuff like the point bubble chest, or the chess piece creatures.

The thing is I don't really want to give any of that stuff away. All the things are made are wat make the level unique, and I'd hate to suddenly see several Harry Potter levels full of objects which I made. Really the only object that would be useful ina non-HP level is the point bubble chest, but it's pointless giving that away as the only prize.

The pictures, I think they should've been pics of sackpeople in colorful wizard outfits, and the creature eyes kinda looked too wierd and goofy for me.

I've started changing the pictures, I've just published an updated version with a few in and it looks much better.

The chest after the chess pieces, some of the points fall into the fire.

Now fixed.

Needs more secret rooms, I think you only put in one or two, like the picture in your post. It'd make your level a lot more like a harry potter video game.

Would do it if I had anywhere to put one. But without drastically changing the whole layout of the level, there isn't really any room. And the thermometer is very close to full anyway.

The chess pieces should move at the same speed, because sometimes they would bunch up and I would have to wait like a minute for them to spread out.

Changed the speed of the last two so they move at the same speed with a constant gap. The middle two I've left the same because one moves a longer distance than the other, so they don't stay together very long.

Tried changing this just now. The stairs trick works great. Managed to put to some invisble strips in front of the back layer, but it started to lag like crazy, so I got rid of them. Still works better than it did though, as you don't need to jump at all now.

I've also fixed the paintinator getting in the way of dragging the key by demitting it once you shoot it down.
EDIT: Forget that - I've moved the paintinator to the back layer after someone had the key land on another key and get stuck. With no paintinator they couldn't shoot it down. But now you can.

Its obvious the love that has gone into this, you captured the essence of the film pretty wonderfully. I'd have loved it to be a little longer but given the detail you've crammed in, its understandable! You translated all the set-pieces from the film really well, the 3 headed dog was a standout for me. : )2009-09-14 12:56:00

When it comes to translate films/games or wichever into LBP, I tend to dislike it -excepting for julesyjules, (who happens to be above me) and comphy-. Seriously, I like creators to shape their own world, like Morgana, or many other.

But I'm making a serious exception with you, yes I am. At first I was like "great another film translated into LBP with hardly any gameplay value" But you know that that's not true at all, since you reintrpretated all the events in the book in completely different -and kind of original- perfectly.

And yes, I'm refering to the staircase room, the three-headed dog, those creepy plants, the flying keys, the chess game and the potion part -on wich I luckily picked the 2 correct ones.
And, oh, god, how I loved the chess part. I had already seen that kind of level section, but you're the first one that made me really enjoy it.

Oh, and let's not forget the humor! I do always appreciatte some well placed humor in levels. And yours sure haves!

But, I gotta say that to me the pudding of this level were the visuals. I could say many things about them, but all comes down to this: This levels is BEAUTIFUL.

Oh, and I found no glitches at all. Congratulations!

Loved this level. Seriously marvelous detail and it so has the feel of the film without being a carbon copy of it. The hall of portraits is brilliant and I laughed a lot at Fluffy. The plant room is gorgeous and the keys look fantastic. I also want to point out your camera angles are great! The final "boss" angle is very cool and showcases the mirror and makes what could be a visually dull encounter very interesing. Well done.

Haha! How about "Sacky Potter and the Underground Pod of Suspect Gadders"? That'll burn up your thermo just on the titles!!

I LOVED this level. Thanks so much! My only gripe was that I got the #2 score (25 behind comphermc) and the score failed to upload (Nooooooooooooooooo!). Now I can't get to the forbidden corridor quickly enough to replicate it.

Plus, i couldn't find the Dumbledore sticker...

Huzzah! I still have the top score! It wasn't even perfect... I'm off to check out the updates and hopefully one-up myself.

Weird - I found dumbledore, but not malfoy...

Edit: not even close. How did I do so well? It all comes down to that race, which is pretty much luck when you start the cycle...

Found the Dumbledore sticker! It's a prize for acing the level. I got Malfoy at the top left of the Devil's Snare room - and I'M NUMBER TWO!!! Wooo! This is a not a bump - it's a brag!

P.S. Comphermc - I would've had you on my first run - only someone was bugging me to join and I got frozen by their stupid pop-up in the middle of the chess board and was spiked! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

If it makes you feel better, my high score run and my ace were on different playthroughs. I got spiked as well when I got 10750. I haven't since been able to get through the stairs fast enough to make a decent run. I assume you run through the stairs as fast as possible and then go back for bubbles?

Yep. Plus you need to already have all the items so those then convert to score bubbles. But yes, the problem is trying to get the stairs on the right "cycle" as they're going from the time you start the game, I'm assuming. So it's largely luck although I had better luck when I didn't dawdle in the preceding areas. But don't try too hard... I like being #2 : )

Great level. I don't think the Harry Potter theme could have been done any better really. The visuals were absolutely spot on. Your take on the different challenges were really inventive and well put together.

All around great level. 5 stars!

Fixed a probelm in the potions bit where apparantly you could get stuck in the bookcase when respawning.

Also managed to get a score of just over 10,000. Getting up the stairs quickly is the key - it can be done by only using 4 staircases.

I am stuck on the keys. Can anyone help me?

You want to be on the middle layer. Just shoot upwards until you get the right key, then keep shooting.

Really great level, curated on every particular. I'm not a bif fan of Hary Potter, but the atmosphere is the same! You made very well the Hogwarts School, i really liked it. Great gameplay: platform, race, enemies to dodge... Oh, and the Giant Dog with the piano, simply great. Awesome work, 5/5 stars and heart.2009-09-17 19:08:00

If you used the backlayers in this level I think especially the hall of the crazy stairs (whatever it's called) would look very cool and give a great sense of space around you. I'm not a big potter fan I just like the movies. I think they're okay to watch but I can't name the different creatures and potions and stuff 2009-09-18 11:06:00

Incredible level, it's a real treat to play something so immensely detailed. I know how much work that is, that stairway is especially incredible, but this level is a joy throughout. I loved playing the piano to put Cerberus to sleep and sneak below. Awesome stuff. Totally deserves its spot on Page 1!2009-09-20 03:05:00

hmm, I don't wanna be hating on your level or anything, but on my list of things to complain about, I went easy on you lol. That greek vase for instance really annoys me. It doesn't really add much to the level at all and almost ruins all the hard work put into the theme in my opinion. Could't you just make a cutout of it? You'd save thermo too.2009-09-21 01:30:00

Sure. I'll get rid of it.

I'm also experimenting with background layers. In the chess and potions rooms, the back wall looks a bit weird being flat, so I've added some thickness to it. I'm also thinking of re-doing the towers so they're in the background a bit more. I don't want to over-do it though.

Quoted for truth

I finally played this level and... wow...

Incredible stuff Nuclearfish! Great gameplay and stunning graphics. I especially loved the swampy section. It blew me away!

Looking forward to the sequels - I expect a quiddich match

5 stars and a heart.

EDIT: I forgot one minor quip I had. In an otherwise graphically stunning level, I found it annoying that the 'unequip' tool was left out in the open, disrupting the otherwise beautiful scenery with a big red X. Can you simply hide it behind a thin layer in the foreground or something?

I remember you posting in the help forum about a way to make a good state/or switch, and you also said you're bad at logic. At the part with the chess pieces and the creature brains you could probably replace the creature brains with magnetic keys and state switches that tell them when to change direction, and pistons or wheels. That'd probably save you quite a bit of thermo. But, as for removing the greek pot, thanks. Im very un-used to people actually listening to me lol2009-09-22 21:36:00

I'll see what I can do.

The chess pieces are actually on invisible pistons. The only reason I've used brains is so that they all get destroyed and you get some points for it.

I played this one yesterday and I love the scenery - just awesome love to every single detail. You did a great job on this beauty - pure atmosphere, thats incredible - and I even forced my girlfriend (lol) to play this game and she loves it too :-) and at least that should be reward enough LOL

I couldn't find anything that made me think "that could need some fix" ... it's perfect the way it is!!

Awesome work, nuclearfish!!!

5 star rating !

Very beautiful recreation of the potter movie, really really well done.

Best parts: the piano and the 3 headed dog, the final battle was also nice and the hallway with the stairs was visually one of the most impressive level parts I have seen so far in user created levels.

Great job!

As much as I like you're Spinning maze levels, I must say, this is my favorite. you got the lighting just right, I liked the fact you used something else rather then stone on the wall's, if there was one thing I could criticizes about this level is the stairs. I mean do'nt get me wrong I loved that part but if you read the book a gazillion times (Like me ) it say's that the forbidden corridor was on the 3rd floor, and The Griffendoor Common room was on the 7th floor, then again if it was like that, it would be too easy. so other then that :star::star::star::star::star:'s one the best levels on LBP, in my opinion you should have gotten a crown just for that. (then you would have 2 lol) now I hate to sound like a weirdo but it's nice to know celebrity's on LBP ACTUALLY talk to there fan's.2010-10-24 20:49:00

Indeed. Been over a year! But hey, might as well reply....

Nice to know somebody noticed that! (even if it is over a year since I made it) But yeah, if I made you go down the stairs it would have taken away the challenge of that area. But if you were to strictly go by the books then the moving staircases shouldn't even be there. They're only in the films.
