Yeah, they are Infact, i'm listening to them right now Metalcore actually... but yeah ^^ What's the difference? I really only like the type of metal that has a soothing vocalist, with a little screamo thrown in, in certain sections. If you know what I mean. | 2009-09-11 22:11:00 Author: Whalio Cappuccino Posts: 5250 |
Metal is sorta the entire thing - Metalcore, Thrash Metal, Heavy Metal, Melodic Death Metal, Black Death Metal etc. are all the sub-genres... | 2009-09-12 01:15:00 Author: Unknown User |
A metal thread! Woot! I run most of the gambit of metal, really. Classic stuff from the 80s, the really heavy death metal from Scandinavia, and the American metalcore of today, with some other stuff that I can't quite classify (e.g. Slipknot and System of a Down) thrown in for variety. *sits and waits for Beatles fans to come tell us our music sucks* | 2009-09-12 16:39:00 Author: dandygandy2704 Posts: 1002 |

And yeah, it's inevitable that they will come | 2009-09-12 16:43:00 Author: Unknown User |
I think that's why I like SOAD so much. You don't really know what's going on sometimes, you just know it's GOOD. And I think it would be fair if they came, since we did kinda tell them we hated their music... | 2009-09-12 16:59:00 Author: dandygandy2704 Posts: 1002 |
In Flames, Opeth, At The Gates, Children of Bodom, Bullet For My Valentine, Necrophagist, As I Lay Dying, Killswitch Engage, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, All That Remains, Apocalyptica, Avenged Sevenfold, The Black Mages, Buckethead, Dethklok, Disturbed, SevenDust, Dream Theater, Drowning Pool, Machinae Supremacy, Tool, Metallica, Megadeth, Nightwish, Pantera, Papa Roach, Rammstein, Submersed, Velvet Revolver... That's about half | 2009-09-12 17:12:00 Author: Aurongel Posts: 221 |
Waaaaait! The Black Mages?!? As in the FF cover band? I didn't know ANYONE else know about them! | 2009-09-12 17:13:00 Author: dandygandy2704 Posts: 1002 |
I hear metal from when I was 8 years old, when I bought Iron Maiden's Powerslave. In 1986... I listen to whatever kind of metal, but I prefer extreme metal, and technical stuff. I am listening to BEHEMOTH - Evangelion, right now, just after MEGADETH - Endgame. Behemoth's new records is a terrible blast, it's like a panzer tank crushing on your head all guns blazing. I really suggest it. But you need some guts to stand it. I'm a sucker of metal with a collection of more than 2800 original CDs | 2009-09-12 17:28:00 Author: OmegaSlayer Posts: 5112 |

Metallica.. oldies but goodies. Listening to Blackened... I also like SYSTEM OF A DOWN. Fave song - Deer Dance | 2009-09-12 19:08:00 Author: chezhead Posts: 1063 |
The old Metallica was good. Some of the new stuff makes me sad I listen to things like Tool as well. Some SOAD, but not much. | 2009-09-12 22:25:00 Author: iGotFancyPants Posts: 1355 |
The old Metallica was good. Some of the new stuff makes me sad I listen to things like Tool as well. Some SOAD, but not much. St Anger was awful, Load + ReLoad had some good stuff (Fuel, King Nothing, The Memory Remains etc.) But DM is great imo. Gotta love a bit of trivium aswell | 2009-09-12 23:20:00 Author: Unknown User |
i suppose at least some of Nine Inch Nails would qualify as metal. i've been to 10 of their shows, and i just went to see their last concert ever on thursday. it was AWESOME. they played Wish with Dillinger Escape Plan. absolutely amazing. so much chaos on stage. the best was when one guy picked up the bass drum, smashed it onto the stage, and the drummer just keeps playing without it. some HD videos are posted on youtube. | 2009-09-13 02:53:00 Author: pennydog Posts: 74 |
i suppose at least some of Nine Inch Nails would qualify as metal. You're metal or not metal, brutal or not brutal. You can't be metal sometimes. You should take some lessons by Nathan Explosion | 2009-09-13 06:30:00 Author: OmegaSlayer Posts: 5112 |
Anyone listen to seether!? YouTube - Seether - "Breakdown" (Official Video) They're great! Well... i think they're great. They're kinda of mix of Metal and Rock, and... yeah i just love them | 2009-09-13 07:37:00 Author: snowyjoe Posts: 509 |

Trivium is very good, but I haven't exactly given them a thorough listen. Maybe I will some time.... :arg: Whatever you do, do not listen to "The Crusade". It's terrible, but the other albums are kick ***. Shogun's the best | 2009-09-13 13:53:00 Author: KoRnDawwg Posts: 1424 |
I saw something up there about Seether. Their first few albums were amazing (Remedy has to be one of my favorite songs of theirs) but the latest record kinda fell flat. | 2009-09-13 15:30:00 Author: dandygandy2704 Posts: 1002 |
Trivium are amazing - i'm going to see them in March I saw them supporting Iron Maiden aswell | 2009-09-13 16:52:00 Author: Unknown User |

This is about as close to Metal as I can appreciate YouTube - Les Claypool - Bass Solo - Tommy the Cat Les Claypool is the duke of thumbs. Go to 1:20 for excellence. | 2009-09-13 23:46:00 Author: Pitcard Posts: 779 |
I know of a song that sounds similar to metal, but maybe a little bit more intense... topped off with the sound of a woman being tortured... YouTube - Venetian Snares - Sybian Rock | 2009-09-17 05:32:00 Author: Voodeedoo Posts: 724 |

I wouldn't consider them metal. o: Anyone listen to seether!? YouTube - Seether - "Breakdown" (Official Video) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BhBQTpPfUAc&feature=fvst) They're great! Well... i think they're great. They're kinda of mix of Metal and Rock, and... yeah i just love them They're not bad, I use to listen to them, but I don't really consider them metal. More so just Rock. I like bands like. . Symphony X, Dream Theater, Metallica, Ozzy Osbourne, Tool, and so on. Right now I'm like listening to only Symphony X and Dream Theater. Well i would definitely consider BFMV metal..... Maybe. I think I'm just being biased towards them cause they have a fruity name. | 2009-09-24 01:35:00 Author: ChristmasJew Posts: 431 |
Know what I really hate, you guys? These "metalcore" bands who just kinda go into the studio and bang on the drums while pulling their guitar stings until they break with a guy with a mic growling nothing at all and then calling it music. I'm sorry, but it sounds more like retarded monkeys broke into the studio after hours. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not hating on metalcore (if I could figure out what it actually is) just certain bands. Great example would be The Chariot. It's just noise. Great example of metalcore that's good would be August Burns Red. But, still, at the end of the day, I'll take my metal heavy, yet melodic. Something I can headbang to or just sit and enjoy if the mood strikes me. That, or Pantera. Love them. By the way, love the new sig, maid3n. | 2009-09-24 23:10:00 Author: dandygandy2704 Posts: 1002 |
Aha thanks. Though it's an old sig that won SotW a while back And i like 'Metalcore' bands like Trivium, BFMV, As i Lay Dying, All That Remains, Killswitch Engage and In Flames. but i know what you mean about the chariot lol... | 2009-09-24 23:20:00 Author: Unknown User |

Is this the band you're talking about? YouTube - The Chariot - Daggers Yea that's pretty bad. But this is even worse. YouTube - Thrown To Belial - Celestial Decapitation But oddly enough some people think it's great. For me, I like to be able to tell what the lyrics are when listening, not just hear gibberish coming out of what sounds like some type of demon troll. | 2009-09-24 23:53:00 Author: ChristmasJew Posts: 431 |
TEEHEE!!! i didnt even post the vid on my last post. oooh, meeee. YouTube - Venetian Snares - Sybian Rock | 2009-09-25 06:04:00 Author: Voodeedoo Posts: 724 |
What you're describing sounds like Death Metal, which I too think is garbage. You mean the melodic stuff I said I liked? Yeah, I guess it would be death metal. Stuff like Amon Amarth. Then again, I love Slipknot's brand of metal, as well. Plus, there's Iron Maiden, who I love so much. Really, there's lots of metal that I like. My dad just likes stuff along the lines of Maiden and Disturbed (two different lines, by the way) but he can't stand the heavier stuff with the screaming. To each his own, right? (Unless they're Beatles fans...) | 2009-09-25 20:51:00 Author: dandygandy2704 Posts: 1002 |

My dad just likes stuff along the lines of Maiden and Disturbed (two different lines, by the way) but he can't stand the heavier stuff with the screaming. To each his own, right? (Unless they're Beatles fans...) If it's like 100% screaming it's either Screamo or Death Metal. When it's some type of grungy type singing that you can't understand like something like the video I showed then it's probably Death Metal. Slipknot's not death metal though, but they do scream a lot. They're just Heavy Metal. Amon Amarth you say. . . *looks up*. . . yeah they're Death Metal. I too don't like stuff with screaming. Just to clarify. "Death metal is an extreme subgenre of heavy metal. It typically employs moderate tempos, heavily distorted guitars, deep growling vocals, blast beat drumming, and complex song structures with multiple tempo changes." Just look out for the "deep growling vocals", that's an instant giveaway lol. | 2009-09-25 23:12:00 Author: ChristmasJew Posts: 431 |
Screamo isn't a real genre of metal, you know... Most likely a band someone calls "screamo" is just metalcore. What I like so much about death metal is how demanding all the writing is, you can tell everyone in those bands have tons of talent. Same can be said for thrash metal. | 2009-09-25 23:18:00 Author: dandygandy2704 Posts: 1002 |

I didn't say it was a real Genre, but it could be what is considered "screamo". Oh you like Death Metal, I thought you were making fun of it, like I was. In my opinion, they put their talent and take it overboard, and then they have some idiot growling in to a mic singing about god knows what. | 2009-09-25 23:26:00 Author: ChristmasJew Posts: 431 |
Okay, I just wanted to clear that up. I used to think metal was "screamo" back in like 8th grade. I grew out of that, though. | 2009-09-26 01:25:00 Author: dandygandy2704 Posts: 1002 |
YouTube - Thrown To Belial - Celestial Decapitation (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ekyYCYVAQNs) That song made me laugh... the lyrics were like this: UGH U UHG MA UGH MA UGH UHHHHHHHHHHHHHHGGGGGGGGGGGGGG MA UHG MO UGH MAH LOOKY MA YAYAYAYAY YOSSSS YAAAAAHHHHHHH ME YAHHHHHHHHME YAH ME YAH YAHHHHHHHHHH!!! LAAAAAAAA ME OOGOO OGGY LOOAAAAA!!!!11!!!!!!!!!!1111!1!!1!!! | 2009-09-26 02:21:00 Author: chezhead Posts: 1063 |
Okay, I just wanted to clear that up. I used to think metal was "screamo" back in like 8th grade. I grew out of that, though. Emo rage music is screamo. Not metal. | 2009-09-26 03:14:00 Author: ChristmasJew Posts: 431 |
