Try my level out. Its called "The Count of st. Claire: Prologue" PSN: graygoose Thanks. REVIEW "The Count of st. Claire: Prologue" WOW ... I can't think of another way to start this review. I would never had expected such a seemingly uninteresting title could hold such greatness. I played your level and was blown away with it. The way you told a story was great, that must have been one of the best story telling levels I ever played. My only little remark was that the beginning was a bit too long. That part with the jamaican beeing denied a ride and later the woman was funny, but I felt the driving part and everything could have been a bit shorter. After that it only kept getting better, I was amazed with the detail you put on that first female face after the orange lighted beginning. And then the skeleton face part , truly creepy and greatly introduced. After that the part where the years passed, very nicely made (maybe you were inspired by the LBP creator's pack tutorial with the change of day / night? ) I really don't have much comments on this level, beside the lacking of gameplay. But you informed at the end of the level that the next ones will have gameplay so I'm looking forward to that LIKES: + amazing story telling + great visuals + good atmoshpere DISLIKES: - a bit too long beginning in the orange lighted scene my score: 90% if you can add good gameplay and keep the same story telling parts intact, we have a winner! I can't believe it only got 4 stars, I rated it 5. very good job ! | 2009-09-11 18:26:00 Author: nightwing Posts: 422 |
Try my level too. PSN: TopBanana0769 Level: SackShine It's my second level. REVIEW: SACKSHINE Always nice to see someone taking their first steps into the level creating world Just for your effort I have given your level a 3 star worth playing rating, but actually it didn't really deserved that rating yet. I will explain why right now. For starters, I liked the story and the beginning seemed interesting. But what put me off where the ugly letters you used from the standard lbp creator's kit. It's better to create letters in thin layer with the build tool out of some material and paste them on the space craft. Or you can search for custom font levels (i never played one but recently heared they exist). That should give the word NASA a much more impressionating impact. Anyways, what bugged me the most was at the part where you flew away with the second space craft, it suddenly stopped stating we can't fly further I should use the jet pack. But I couldn't reach the jet pack because it was below the space craft. When I tried to get it , I fell down and died in that smoke. What I would recommend you to do is the following: 1. use custom fonts or create them with material 2. add lightning effects and sounds 3. check your level for errors by playing it thousands of times and correct yourself all the time If you have updated the level, let me know and I will re-review it for you LIKES: + the story and the space craft design was not bad DISLIKES: - level is broken as jetpack could not be reached after the 2nd space craft stopped flying SCORE: not given I will re- review when everything is working | 2009-09-11 18:35:00 Author: nightwing Posts: 422 |

Can you review my Level SIREN: [The Lost World] (Episode 2- Otherside)? More information is my signature below! thanks for doing this! | 2009-09-11 19:43:00 Author: Noroibito Posts: 211 |
REVIEW SIREN: [The Lost World] (Episode 2- Otherside) Well, this sure is something different An adventure game is a different type of game and not quite my cup of tea. Nevertheless, I tried my best to finish as much of the level as I could. Having siren blood curse game myself, I have an idea of the atmosphere you need to create with such a level and I must say you got it completely right. The part where you could hear the 'radar' sounds of the shibito beeing near was exciting and very cool The entire level plays really like a quest game, search this, go there , go back , take that etc... I like the idea of grabbing things to collect, I like the atmosphere , I even liked the level. But why always the same? After a while it got really tiresome, searching and running back and forth. Maybe, just maybe, you could let things change in the evironment to spice it up a bit so at least you don't see the same - very beautifully created - decors over and over again. This would make it a bit more exciting. Of course, it's just my two cents. My only problem with this level was that I couldn't finish it. Perhaps I'm just too tired in the evening (in Belgium it's 10pm) or I just suck at thinking When I got the big ferry wheel working again, I only found a note with some cryptic clue on it. As a result I'm stuck. I know this is supposed to be a thinking level, and it does a great job at that, but maybe you could provide a hint box or something when someone gets really stuck? Now, this has been a long review but I want to stress out I gave your level 4 stars rating (very good). Why? The background, environment (the horse ride, ferry wheel, all beautifully done) , everything was created with lots of detail and love. Such an effort immediately makes for at least a 3 star game. The 4th star you earned because I thought it was a good adventure, most of it was logical (untill the ferris wheel note) LIKES: + beautiful environment + great atmoshpere (although a bit too dark sometimes) + a 'thinking man's" level - complex, but logical DISLIKES: - Repetitive -> problem with adventure games is that they get repetitive if you don't mix things up or add some extra tension scenes. SCORE: 81% Everything works well for an adventure game, I just missed the "punch", that "yeah that's cool" effect a bit to give it a very high score. Maybe adding some scary scenes when you have to go back to places could make the going back less repetitive. You gave yourself a good example with the shibito sound in that one area, maybe you could continue down that path and add a bit more of those scenes? Good level , you show a lot of promise as an adventure game creator. Keep it up and you will receive that 5 star and 90% or more rating from me in the future with new levels, i'm positive about that | 2009-09-11 20:30:00 Author: nightwing Posts: 422 |
edit: I just read your walkthrough and found out I needed to get a tablet from the other carriages in the wheel, I only looked in the blue one... maybe you should add a line there I need to check all those carriages? anyway : good job with the level ! | 2009-09-11 20:41:00 Author: nightwing Posts: 422 |

Feel free to review my level when you get back. It's called Naruto Ninja Training 1. I am Kefkaas here, there, and everywhere else (except the boring real world). | 2009-09-12 12:59:00 Author: Kefkaas Posts: 86 |
edit: I just read your walkthrough and found out I needed to get a tablet from the other carriages in the wheel, I only looked in the blue one... maybe you should add a line there I need to check all those carriages? anyway : good job with the level ! Thanks for the review! I'm so glad that people are finally getting to my levels. Well the thing is that the was a clue for that. At the bathroom where you find a plunger you'll read a note. The note says: "I left a gift just for you! The flags tell you what carriages to check." And when you exit that building you'll see a small row of WHITE and RED flags. The white carriage holds the message and the RED carriage holds the tablet. =P Hope that cleared things up! And I'll try to fit in more pacing the third time around. That's exactly what I was worried about the most, I spent so much time trying to make the level look great, that I forgot about the scares until it was too late. And it's nice to hear that there's another SIREN player here! Hope to here more from you soon, because the 3rd in the series is well underway. | 2009-09-12 16:01:00 Author: Noroibito Posts: 211 |

REVIEW : PALE Well I just got back from a trip to "Pale". At first I thought, what will this be for a noobish level? At the beginning your eyes immediately notice the simple colour scheme and shapes and you think this is someones first level. But then your opinion starts to change as you play through as everything is well designed and plays very fluently. I found myself for once actually doing my best to get some extra point bubbles because I wanted to do well here. Most platforming sections involve grabbable material and cubes which need to be manipulated to get to other sections. It's all pretty simple but wonderfully executed. The same can be set about the visuals. Less is more in this case and the use of only 3 (i think) different materials and colours really works well to give this level a profession look. Some sections are also nice including a small town and a puzzle involving a turning staircase What I would suggest to make the level even better is by adding some more visual flair and artistic things as background. The trees and some houses are nice but they don't come around much. This leaves you often looking at brown and blue shapes (i guess this is why it's named PALE ). But maybe you can add some more buildings as background with those colours or some small details. All in all, this level works really well and it's simplicity is actually good here. It does nothing revolutionary, but instead perfectly executes the basics of little big planet platforming. So it got a well deserved 4star rating in game from me. LIKES: +platforming sections work great +some nice small puzzles and even some secrets for more pionts (like that switch) +kept me playing and wanting to score more points DISLIKES -some more artistic design in backgrounds could make this even better MY SCORE: 84% well crafted, fluently playing platforming game but missing some visual flair for greatness. | 2009-09-20 11:34:00 Author: nightwing Posts: 422 |
REVIEW: Sewer Gas Survival It smells like teen spirit ! At least, that's what nirvana sings and not how this level smells Find out below how well this smelly sewer experience filled with gasses plays! You start off with a small and neat gimmic , namely a sound machine wich produces farts. I lauged my *** off with this part, and was completey caught by surprise as I expected immediate survival action. Well done bonus! Then on to the level itself. You arrive in a sewer system and need to get upstairs as quickly as possible before the gas eleminates you. Beeing a gamer for many years now, I have played thousands of games and your level actually really feels like a SONIC the hedgehog level named labyrinth. In here you pass through a maze and need to get upstairs before the water kills you. I don't know if you got your inspiration from there but it really works. The time pressure of the gas slowly rising makes you want to get up as quickly as possible. Add in the nice platforming sections and you have a good survival game. Sorry to say I didn't make it till the end , but I suppose that's the meaning of a survival level , right I liked how you tried to give the level the look of a sewer system with the green ooze and pipes all around. Now, normally I would say that visually the level is not that great, but in a survival level that's not really required according to me. Here it's all about staying alive as you don't have the time to look at the graphics of the level. What I would do to improve this level? Frankly it plays good so I don't really know which advice to give you. Maybe adding some green lighting effects to complement the ooze could be nice as a visual effect. LIKES + the idea of getting up as quickly as possible to avoid killing gass + the setting (not many levels in a sewer system that are decently looking like a sewer) + the small bonus (Fart Machine music) DISLIKES -no real complaints, only that it could use some lighting effects MY SCORE: 80% A good survival level that's fun to play | 2009-09-20 11:45:00 Author: nightwing Posts: 422 |
Hi, You're doing a great job with the reviews but I just wanted to let you know that the site already operates a system called F4F whereby you review and give feedback on someone's F4F level and they review yours in return. Check it out. | 2009-09-20 11:49:00 Author: mistervista Posts: 2210 |
thanks! I'm already aware of that but wanted to have my own review space as well next week I'll be playing 4f4 levels | 2009-09-20 12:23:00 Author: nightwing Posts: 422 |
REVIEW: ruined ruins of ruintopia AND part 1 of your (escape police) series RUINED RUINS Well, I first started by trying the ruintopia level. First thing I noticed was the strange story line. A nuclear bomb, a car driving wild ? strange combination , but I thought what the heck, let's see where this goes. I liked the lighting of the level, that orangy colour always gives a nice visual flair and it doesn't dissapoint here. However the gameplay is something different. I started my rocket in pursuit of the car gone haywire by pressing that button. After some quick driving I crashed and got stuck. I suppose there's still some work needed here because I could not get out of the area where the big car crashed. Therefore I could not play long enough to give a good review, but fix it and I'll review it later (upon new request). PART 1 OF THE SERIES I was pleasantly suprised by this level. I really expected nothing good because your first one was kind of a mess. It turned out to be a decent level. Everything seems a bit disorderly in the beginning where the garage is, but after you leave with your car you get an exciting police chase scene where you have a good sense of speed. Kudos for that, that was cool ! My complaint however is that near the end I again got stuck somewhere and didn't know where to go or what to do. I really sugges that you play test your levels more and give better clues to what to do before putting them online. People who get stuck will rate your level 1 star and bash it, even when it doesn't deserve that, so be careful in the future. I will play the other parts as well next week, as this level did show potential of a good creator. You just need some more practice but I'm sure that your later levels in this series will be good. LIKES: +the art of the car silhouettes you pass by when you race with the police behind you +the art of the police officers coming to arrest you +great sense of speed during the chase, you feel that you're driving quick DISLIKES: - got stuck, stuck , stuck !! (i can't stress this out enough because when a level has a fault that prevents it from beeing played till the finish, that's really annoying) MY SCORE: 65% I liked this level visually for the most part, but you need to make sure it's playable till the end. You're on the right track, this was a lot better than your first attempt | 2009-09-20 12:34:00 Author: nightwing Posts: 422 |
Thank you so much for the review! I am glad you enjoyed the "Fart Machine" LOLZ! I will add some lighting effects for sure. Thanks again! | 2009-09-20 23:05:00 Author: theonlybub Posts: 690 |

REVIEW: DESCENT 2 After the good introduction first part I wanted to play this one as quickly as possible, and man was I happy I did ! But let me start from the beginning. You are a sackperson who was spending some time in the woods in a cabin with friends. When you move around the cabin you notice sarah is not there and you read a note wich leads you into a cave system. Soon you find out some things are not right in this cave, as mysterious shadows move quickly through the dark. This is were part 2 kicks off. You will encounter the creatures up close this time (this is wonderfully done with a zoom effect) , use flares to look around (great visual effect) and do some backpack climbing as a way of variation. This whole level really plays like the movie descent. People who have seen this movie will enjoy this level even more as they are sure to recognise some things (for example: flare scene - lighted exit scene ? - creatures popping out ...) Your sackboy has to do some jumping through a cave system that's collapsing a bit sometimes, you will visit a wonderfull location with a waterfall in the cave, do some swinging and grabbing onto vines to get across, evade some monsters who are really creepy and good looking and see a disturbing cutscene near the end. LIKES: + design of the monsters + lighting effects top notch + ending on a cliffhanger keeps you wanting more + one of the few good horror levels out there imho DISLIKES - sometimes a bit too dark - could use an action packed fighting scene to spice things up a bit more as variation was lacking at the end SCORE: 93% A great horror themed level that does so many things right you just want to sit in awe and play this level over and over again. | 2009-09-21 07:43:00 Author: nightwing Posts: 422 |
Wow Thanks for that great review!! Best score so far!! woot woot I'm glad you noticed to increments of intensity throughout both levels. Following this trend, I wanted to save the fight scenes for Part 3. I'll let you know when that one is ready.. Thanks again!! | 2009-09-21 13:57:00 Author: javi haguse Posts: 744 |
So what about my level? I was in line before Pale and got skipped over. Did I miss some needed qualification? Was it just so horrible that you didn't even bother writing a review? | 2009-09-21 15:51:00 Author: Kefkaas Posts: 86 |
So what about my level? I was in line before Pale and got skipped over. Did I miss some needed qualification? Was it just so horrible that you didn't even bother writing a review? I'm sure that is not the case. Nightwing has been very professional and objective with his reviews. I think he would give you constructive criticism if the level wasn't as polished. btw, it took a couple of day before he posted the review for mine... so don't sweat it! | 2009-09-21 21:08:00 Author: javi haguse Posts: 744 |
I would love to get a proper review on my level: Ghost of Sparta - Chapter One, it's on cool pages/busy pages at the moment and since the search function doesn't work for my level that would be the place to look for it (may be off the cool pages in a few days) If you still can't find it, please add me on Psn so you can go to friends and find it. REVIEW: Ghost of Sparta (by knocked-out) Well, it took me a bit of searching the most hearted levels but I finally found it It's actually a shame that this level is hard to find, because it deserves to be played. But more on that later, let's start from the beginning. Once you arrive you get to see a nice temple like background where multiple layers were used in a good way. The colour immediately stands out because the author choose a brown like filter for the entire level and this works very good. You immediately feel in the greek, mythological world because the Greeks always used a lot of light brown in their materials so the filter does a good job. After a short walk you face a nice visual treat of a statue like head in the rocks, visually very impressive and something I have not seen before. Your adventure continues as you face a first puzzle, it took me a while before I figured out the use of the skeleton but it was very nicely done. So far the level is good but not very good, but then you encounter your first enemy. The cyclops is wonderfully detailed and makes a nice enemy. The real star of this level is however the boss battle. Without giving too much away ( a spoiler here would be sad because it's that good) the attention to detail and lighting in the area where you fight the boss is amazing! Of course the boss itself looks very good too, but the way the authour created the background and lighting and falling rock effects really give this part of the level an epic feel. That's what I want to see in a god of war like level, EPIC enemies. Most people make God of War levels with some nice platforming sections and puzzles but really, the big enemies is what we want to see here. This level doesn't dissapoint in that, however I did have a complaint. I was really wanting more and after that first boss it already stopped. Maybe it's because of the thermometer , I can understand that because you obviously put a lot of detail in everything. But then, I couldn't help but feel that more space could be created. Maybe making some less detailed environments in some places to save some space for a longer adventure and another epic boss would have been even better. For now, the level feels like a demo of a brillant game or as heavenly sword (another ps3 classic and one I recommend for anoyone who hasn't played it yet). Fantastic fun while playing but it's over way too quickly. LIKES: + great art design of the cyclops and the boss enemy + beautiful background ( I really was in awe at some points of how good it looked) +finally an EPIC boss fight DISLIKES: - why so short? I understand there will be a second part but it's really over too quickly. I played it and rated 5 stars of course, very good level. SCORE: 89% fantastic level and could have been truly amazing but it's really over far too quickly. If the length was 30% longer it could have been a CLASSIC (90+ score) Next time, perhaps? | 2009-09-22 13:11:00 Author: nightwing Posts: 422 |
Thanks for the awesome review Nightwing, I've put alot of work in it and it's good to see people enjoy it Honestly I think the level is too short too :| thats the reason I put the sentance "A small god of war inspired level" in the description.. I was planning on making it about 3 rooms bigger and putting in another boss (The Kraken) in there. Too bad the termometer ruined it for me, im working on a chapter two at the moment and i find it hard to keep spots empty but I just have to :| Anyway thanks for the review man | 2009-09-22 15:49:00 Author: Kn0cked-0ut Posts: 562 |

REVIEW: Naruto Ninja Training 1 (by kefkaas) It took some effort, but finally found the level I myself grew up with Dragon Ball Z cartoons, another manga anime serie that has had several level attempts in the LBP universe so far. The Naruto series seems equally populair so it must have much going for it. Having never seen an episode of this series in my life and only played the demo of the ps3 game I was in for a real treat. Can the creator manage to fit in some of the series mechanics into a level with gameplay? Find out below! This level is all about training (as the title immediately states) and becoming a ninja with all the skills from the naruto series. At first I must say I was pleasantly surprised with this level. It started off with an easy battle against some well designed ninja's that were cool looking. My only small complaint here would be that you could see the emitters from where the ninja stars left. I suggest making those invisible as this would improve the realism You then learn Chakra (or some sort of skill) to float and jump up high trees. I don't know exactly how the creator did this, but it works really well and is cool at the same time! Amazing how suddenly sackboy jumps up high, walks over water in thin air and so on. I presume in the series the fighters do this as well and it's well translated into a lbp level I believe. Kudos for that! After some Chakra training you then have to learn to duplicate yourself, which is also common in the series. The creator solved this in a smart way by using stickers on blocks. As we all know, blocks can be manipulated much easier than figures so it was a smart move. What bothered me a bit was the lack of scenery in the levels throughout. You put some effort in giving the level the "naruto" feeling with the powers and everything but you forgot the visuals of the level. What I suggest: make sure all switches (proximity switch, emitters) are not visible to create a better realism in your levels and paint the green dissolvable material in some colours or colour so it doesn't look ugly. Also I would suggest some jumping / platforming parts like in the lbp story mode for example on pillars or so as a way of variation. Now the level plays as an introduction part and this is fine, but improve the visuals for the later parts. LIKES: + it feels like the anime with all the powers + some good designs like the ninja enemies in the beginning and cool chakra effect DISLIKES: - the visual style with the stickers is working, but you need to improve the background scenery and add some decoration on the levels. - emitters and switches visible, try covering those up - near the end, the instructor says the same thing as when you were near the tree in the beginning. I think you copied but forgot to delete those lines. Fix that I gave it 3 stars and rating CUTE SCORE: 70% a naruto level that has some cool ideas, plays ok but needs some serious polish in the visual department. | 2009-09-22 19:44:00 Author: nightwing Posts: 422 |
REVIEW: Naruto Ninja training part 2 (by kefkaas) I felt that Kefkaas had to wait longer than the others for his review, so I thought it would be fair that as a way of thanks for waiting I'd review his part 2 as well immediately Well, this picks up right where the previous one left off. For an extensive review of part 1 and the introduction please read my post before this one. You are still in training. Something is different this time around however as now you learn to use the duplicate skill to get over obstacles and the real powers! One thing I noticed : when you duplicate sackboy you get of course brown sackboys. They are not wearing uniforms so maybe you should add a text line with a picture of a sackboy wearing nothing and advise players to dress like this. That way it feels more like it's really you that's beeing duplicated. Earth, Wind, fire, water and so on are well introduced and you get to experience all of them. After this introduction you get to pick the power of your likings (cool idea by the way) and follow a different path. I was most impressed by the wind effect, so this was of course the element I choose to continue. You use scrolls to get over obstacles, nothing difficult but fun to play. I really never felt bored or got stuck in this level and that's a good thing. What I did miss was the visual department once again. This time around there were no cool looking ninja's so it felt even more pale than the previous one. And that's really a shame because this level catches the naruto powers even better than the previous one. You also get to summon a beast like in the cartoons, which is cool! However you can't see the head of the creature due to a camera angle not beeing installed. I suggest adding a camera tool near the creature and zoom out and angle it a bit from bullfrog perspective to get a clean look. LIKES: + even cooler powers, with nice wind and water effect + plays better than the first naruto level DISLIKES: - not enough own art / scenery rated 3 stars and cute once again SCORE: 72% It's better than the first in terms of gameplay and effects, but the visuals feel unpolished. Better graphics could easily gain this level 3-4%. | 2009-09-22 19:57:00 Author: nightwing Posts: 422 |

I'd like to put a level of mine into the queue. Level name: Lightbringer PSN ID: Trindall I appreciate whatever comments or thoughts you may have on the level and I look forward to seeing how it turns out. If there is anything I can do as well just let me know. Cheers. Edit: One more thing to throw out there; should you want to learn more about the backstory in the level there is a library annex that can be easily found by those looking around. The library isn't really hidden but I've been amazed by the amount of people who never bother to look around. I feel that there is enough text mouths in my level as it is so I make the library an optional stop for those who like reading. Let me know if there are any questions. | 2009-09-22 21:33:00 Author: Trindall Posts: 297 |

Thanks for the review nightwing. I really appreciate you doing both levels. I've already fixed most of the issues you mentioned. Only problem is I'm not creative enough to make much of my own artwork or scenery. But I'm giving it a shot. Thanks again. | 2009-09-25 15:13:00 Author: Kefkaas Posts: 86 |
REVIEW: Lightbringer (by trindall) coming up soon | 2009-09-25 19:18:00 Author: nightwing Posts: 422 |
REVIEW: Lightbringer (by trindall) Holy sunlight, here's a nice variation on all the basic hero adventure levels. This level starts you off with a sunlight - mirror's puzzle which has you thinking a little bit but it's not too hard. The player is the "lightbringer", one who is able to let the light shine in the darkness (literally) and defeats the monsters by the power of (sun)light. The cool thing about this level is that you have to keep making a path for yourself as each time you re-arrange a mirror a beam of light comes in and destroys the shadow like beasts. Thus entering a path for our young hero to continue. During the course of the level, it becomes clear that the author has put the emphasis on small puzzles as our hero has to re-align a triangle, re-arrange mirrors, press in buttons on time and do some running around in between the scenes. The level then ends with a very cool boss battle which puts some hard needed adrenaline in the level and makes for an epic finish. I missed the library with extra story myself after the final battle, but then again it wasn't really necessary as I understood most of the story fairly quick. There were no big complaints or issues that I have had while playing, as for the most part I did enjoy myself. The creator sticked to a visually basic style of design, but the cool mirrors and smokelike dark enemies melted really well with the environment. I can say the level looks crispy and the materials used fit well in the theme of the story. Functional graphics: no more, no less. And so we've come to the conclusion. Is this worth playing? I can say without a doubt it is. I rated this level 4 stars because it's a well designed, puzzle driven level with a cool twist to it (using sunlight and mirrors to defeat smoke enemies). LIKES: + nice concept and original to use sunlight and mirrors + no flaws flound, everything is designed really well + nice boss battle DISLIKES: - lacking a bit on the background variety - misses some wow effect for sheer brilliance - I was missing music and some neat sound effects SCORE: 83% A well designed level with a good concept and functional graphics. | 2009-09-25 20:10:00 Author: nightwing Posts: 422 |
REVIEW: The Security Breach (by javi haguse) Well, well. The birth of a talented creator is always a pleasant surprise In this level you are to train yourself in the army camp and after a short walk you arrive there. From here it's some nice platforming sections with a very cool scanner to identify you (a bit like my eye scanner thingy in space fortress) as you enter the premise. You start off with some cool climbing sections which already show glimpses of talent as the level plays really well and never gets dull. Upon entering the gas chamber for some extra training there seems to be a security breach. Guess who's the little sackboy that has to kill the intruder by breaking his neck? This small suspense part was very nice and may even be the most fun part of the whole level as you take out the enemy soldier. What this level missed was the visual greatness. I can see it was the first attempt, but nevertheless already it's on a high standard. LIKES: + fun to play + cool scene near the end and neat visual effect with the scanner DISLIKES - a bit brownish level and therefore somewhat flat visually SCORE: 80% Well it may not be the next Descent, this level entertains and is fun to play. Even in the beginning your level reaches a level of quality mine's almost never reach. Very well done for your first level ! | 2009-09-25 21:34:00 Author: nightwing Posts: 422 |

LIKES: + nice concept and original to use sunlight and mirrors + no flaws flound, everything is designed really well + nice boss battle DISLIKES: - lacking a bit on the background variety - misses some wow effect for sheer brilliance - I was missing music and some neat sound effects Thank you for the great review, I'll get some feedback on levels of yours as well presently. Your the second person who has said that they were missing music and sound effects and I'm curious about that. There are three different audio tracks that play throughout the such that every section always has music. Did you not hear any of it or were you wanting something more than just instrumentals? As for the SFX I keep it to mostly environmental effects, creaking, wind, cracking/snapping sounds. Were you looking for more or were you not able to hear the ones that were there? Once again thanks for your time. Cheers. | 2009-09-28 19:46:00 Author: Trindall Posts: 297 |

Thanks ! I really like your levels so I'd love to review them all As for your brother, of course I can review his levels as well, as he can give feedback through you. Already played his alaska level by the way, which has indeed a horror theme to it From what I've seen of the level upon a quick playthrough: 1. liked the limited vision in the dark, icy environment with only a flashlight (much like the descent) 2. the build up was good (with something escaped and you see the cage -like thingy open) 3. quick enemy appearance but I felt this was too quick this time around. I couldn't even catch a glimps of the enemies, he could work on that | 2009-09-29 20:05:00 Author: nightwing Posts: 422 |
I know! A lot of things in his levels resemble my levels because he has watched me build them. He just stopped playing because he didn't get the number of plays he expected... As of my future projects, its been a slow start since I'm trying to gather ideas first. For The Descent Series I've always come up with the best scene first and then build based on that. In part 1 it was the nightvision scene and in part 2 was the flare section. I haven't figured out what to do on part 3, so I'm a little stuck. I already know how I want the intro, which is gonna be crazy btw, and the ending. Sometimes it feels that I've covered everything cave related.. and I don't want it to me more of the same.. | 2009-09-30 13:18:00 Author: javi haguse Posts: 744 |
I understand, it's really hard to come up with variety in cave levels when you've already done most of the things in the first 2 levels of descent. I suggest you really work with the 'illusion' of beeing out of the cave and that way you can add some out door gameplay and create a bit more variety. | 2009-09-30 17:27:00 Author: nightwing Posts: 422 |
sounds interesting.. what do you mean? The go outside but later on turns out that they weren't? | 2009-09-30 19:53:00 Author: javi haguse Posts: 744 |
exactly! Like in the movie descent, the main character thinks she's out in the end. She runs through the forest to her car and drives away. Then the viewer sees her sitting in the cave, so she never really left. It was all in her head an illusion caused by the lack of oxygen in the cave. What I was suggesting was: maybe you can make that scene, that' she's out of the cave, the player has to jump over some trees / rocks , river and runs to the jeep (seen in descent 1). Then start the jeep somehow and drive away, only to find out a few seconds later that she's still in the cave. You then could end with a cliffhanger, showing firstly a text message 'some days later' and then show some rescue team going down the cave to search for the missing persons only to find themselves suddenly in the dark surrounded by those things... Just ideas of course, I hope these help a bit | 2009-09-30 21:28:00 Author: nightwing Posts: 422 |
LOL this is funny cause that is very similar to the idea that I had for the ending! I don't want to give it away, but it is definitely a twisted cliffhanger.. I guess my problem is the middle section.. I have to come up something awesome an memorable to happen in the middle... | 2009-09-30 23:50:00 Author: javi haguse Posts: 744 |
maybe a scene where the creatures run around in the dark and pull some bodies with them who carry a flashlight. you then only see some glimpses of where the creatures are to avoid when they accidentaly turn on and of t he flashlight. | 2009-10-01 17:10:00 Author: nightwing Posts: 422 |
ahhh, i see you tried them. yeah i havent been online much recently moving to uni....and my lame uni net has given my ps3 has nat type 3 so i cant even fix them so people can see the fixes....but still REVIEW: ruined ruins of ruintopia AND part 1 of your (escape police) series RUINED RUINS Well, I first started by trying the ruintopia level. You're on the right track, this was a lot better than your first attempt im glad it was partially ok. but with the ruins level (i suppose i can make it a tad easier) is that you have to go under the wheels of the car and escape past a falling building (it wont hurt you if you stay in the front layer though) and then you get to travel across a part of a ruined city. as for the other level, did the mouth decide to stop working when you got the end? there was supposed to be a voice from inside the building with the locked door telling you to go upward into the roof, under the motorway and activate a really secure switch (he is a bit paranoid, he doesnt show it because he compliments your criminal character...so he tries to act cool. but keeping his house safe, hence the switch being up there) then you come back down and go inside and roam around till you finish whats inside there the mouth should pop up when your almost at the building, but its not too close to it. it worked when i tested the level, offline and once uploaded. i guess somehow it didnt come up? | 2009-10-04 03:34:00 Author: Xegethra Posts: 207 |

Please check out my level "Alpine Saga: Prolog - The Climb". PSN: MySantaAnna Thanks a lot. Anna LEVEL REVIEW : Alpine Saga: Prolog - The Climb Well, I know some of you have been eagerly awaiting another one of my reviews, but I had a little setback the last week. First I had a lot of work to do in the office and after that I got the flu (still have it now :s ). Anyway, the title of this level seemed very nice as I have always been fascinated by the mountains. Great views, scary depts, mountain peaks, mountain cabins, mountain goats, cows... It came to no surprise that I encountered cows in this level. My eye immediately fell on the nice design of the cows. The author definately put some work on the characters in this level as everything seems to look good. When playing this level I first thought, meh this is just some random run and jump level with stickers of mountains used as background. But then something strange and cool happened. There are some underground areas which are beautifully lit and the use of mushroom stickers works very good here to complement it. After some underground walking I came to a nicely made cabin. When I noticed another underground tunnel I immediately jumped right in, only to find out the next obstacle is a bit trial and error-like. As a result I could not finish this level completely. Got stuck on the place where you have to grab and swing on the bar to the switch underground. The problem is my sackboy always jumped on the bar and crawled between 2 layers or I jumped and sackboy didn't grab anything. So that has to be looked into , but for the rest everything played nice. I have to be honest about something: I was a bit dissapointed that there was almost no real mountain climbing here. But since it's a prologue I guess it can still come, right ? so it's time for the evaluation: LIKES: + nice art design (cows, cabin ...) + plays pretty fluently except for the last part DISLIKES: - still some small mistakes in the level that need to be fixed - background used of mountain stickers is not very beautiful, try to add some custom made scenery as background. SCORE: 75% a pretty decent start of hopefully a great series of levels | 2009-10-12 18:51:00 Author: nightwing Posts: 422 |
PSN: Trevor_Fox Level Names: "Klonoa: Vision 5-2" and "Klonoa: Vision 5-2 part 2: Boss Joker" I would like these reviewed when you have the time. =) The first one can be quite difficult, but I was able to fix some problems the first one had in part 2. REVIEW: "Klonoa: Vision 5-2" I'll do the part 2 later, but for now here 's the review of Klonoa: vision 5-2. The story of this level is a bit weird but is well explained in a lot of text balloons early on. It seems you have to stop a monster who has opened a gate of nightmares onto our world. Aye caramba! I was warned that this level could be difficult and it was no lie, I tell you that good sir So there you have it, I start this review immediatly discussing the most noticeable thing about this level: difficulty! The creator uses a nice idea where enemies can only be killed during daylight and not during nighttime. Thus he created emitters to spawn electrified enemies by night and normal ones by day. This idea is pretty neat, as I have not seen a level that uses this control scheme. However, I found that even in daylight the enemies can be pain in the *** here. When you kill an enemy the spikes don't dissapear but remain on the floor for the rest of the playthrough. This is very tricky since you not only have to avoid enemies by night, by day the spikes are your biggest enemy. The visuals of this level felt a bit strange, I really liked the checkpoint idea where you had to grab a clock to let it appear but disliked the varied use of materials througout the level. There's material from the metal gear solid pack here, from the basic pack almost 4-5 different materials etc... It's all a bit too much and makes the level look a bit amateurish. The design has some cool ideas, I liked the bouncing platforms on springs in particular. But as said in the beginning of this review, the difficulty is way too high. However, I did manage to play this level till the end and made it It felt very rewarding and that's a good thing. I always like a challenge! Just too bad it's going to be a bit much here for novice players. I would suggest placing some more checkpoints to make it a bit less frustrating. the verdict: LIKES +good concept +challenging for experienced players DISLIKES -balancing a bit too much on the edge of frustration due to difficulty -too much different materials used (it's best to stick to 3) I will grade this level from 2 points of view as I feel that's the best and honest way to go here: SCORE: 65% for beginners 73% for experienced players who like a challenge | 2009-10-12 19:03:00 Author: nightwing Posts: 422 |
PSN: lozynmymnd REVIEW: Bank Robbery Gone Haywire Aaah I always like levels from less experienced creators as they might have a glimps of genialty in it that you didn't see coming In this level you have to rob a bank and start by climbing a huge building. From the top of the building you can glide by cable to the roof of the bank and thus entering it. Unfortunately the author did not use a normal gliding mechanism but has you falling down the building and grabbing on to sponge attached to the sides and jumping over an obstacle. This part was very hard and I had to try 5 times before I finally made it through here. Once inside the bank your character becomes gready and kills other people to have all the cash for himself. This idea is nice, but lacking in visual flair as the designs are pretty basic of all characters. I will use the points system for the last part as otherwise I need to typ 2 pages to explain everything lol The following are points you need to pay attention to: Green fog everywhere in very tick layers -> is this the fog horror movie or a bank heist? I suggest making the thickness of the fog to a minimal if you have to use it. Way too long climb as beginning ? boring as hell You have to climb a building in the beginning but the stairs go on and on, by the time you finally get upstairs most people have already quit and rated this level as boring. So let the player be able to take an elevator for the first part so he doesn't have to climb that much stairs. Vault code was ok You had to find a code by rearranging the numbers and experimenting with the right combination. I liked this idea but you need to make the interior better as it didn't look like a bank at all. Place some vault doors or create some piles of money. Too few checkpints when escaping over the trees and too hard. This is another point where you still have to work on as it was very hard and when I died I had to do a long part again. LIKES: +nice idea with the vault combination and killing the others DISLIKES: -way too boring and hard in the beginning -interior of the bank was empty, where is the money, the vaults , the employee living room and so on? SCORE 61% this level has potential but needs a lot of finetuning. I hope I'm not too harsh on you but I always prefer the honest approach in my reviews. If you fix the points I mentioned this level can reach the 70% mark which is pretty decent | 2009-10-12 19:15:00 Author: nightwing Posts: 422 |

Thanks! I'll take a look at all those materials and adjust them accordingly. I've worked on the trampolines, and, while they still have a learning curve, they are easier to use. I'll take a look and see if there are any good spots to put a few checkpoints. If you want to completely get rid of an enemy, don't grab it. Just go for the brain. They'll still spawn based on the day/night cycle, but what I mean is that if you don't grab-hop (grab the enemy to defeat it), then the spikes on the enemy will disappear. | 2009-10-12 22:34:00 Author: Unknown User |

REVIEW: THE LAIR This level brings back old memories of last year. To be more specific it reminds me a lot of the collector sets in the little big planet media molecule levels. The author definately did a lot of studying on these levels, as I can see the look is polished and everything fits well into the theme of the wilderness. But then we come to my first small complaint: why is it so difficult? I know this is supposed to be a level with a bit of a challenge to it but this is ridiculously hard. It feels like the creator just took the hardest parts of the mm levels and placed them all into 1 -it must be said well designed- level. The result is both a blessing and a curse to review because here we have a level that looks good , fits the theme and has challenging contraptions. On the other hand we see a difficulty level that is almost inhuman. Remember those old shoot em ups where you got to select the difficulty and one states : sure to die - hardest ? well this feels just like it. One segment in particular had me almost crying for my mum when I died like 54 times in a row. This segment was near the beginning after the first contraption with the boxes and featured bouncing platforms and electrified ceelings. The timing had to be absolutely perfect here to get past it. A checkpoint in the middle here would have been very welcome. After finally suffered enough to get through it I came to large spinning wheels which again proved to be more than I could chew. Needless to say I gave up after another 30 attempts and quit the level. So what I would suggest here is : try to tone down the difficulty a bit and place some more checkpoints in between contraptions. I see this level got 3 stars, I rated it likewise but I can't help but feel a tad in pain because the level design is very well done. It's just a pity that the difficulty is too hard for the casual gamer. So here's evaluation time once again : LIKES +good visuals that fit the wilderness theme perfectly (much like mm levels) +well designed obstacles ... DISLIKES - ... that are unfortunately sometimes waaay too hard - could have used more checkpoints SCORE: 72% | 2009-10-13 13:05:00 Author: nightwing Posts: 422 |
REVIEW:City in The Sky by bonner Another work from the author of the very good platforming level PALE. Of course this raised my expectations from the beginning. I already knew this author had skills so I expected something good. I was not dissapointed In this level you venture across a city in the sky (duh ) and have to help to fend off an attack of enemies who are beeing led supposedly by a mechanical beast. The first thing you'll notice when playing this level is that it looks very good. The author created a lot of custom scenery in the form of buildings and floating platforms with propellors. As decoration some nice white flowers were used to give that happy feeling to this level. After you do some basic platforming stuff and jumping around some floating platforms you have to defeat some simple enemies and end the level with a boss fight against the mechanical creature. Unfortunately this was a tiny bit of a led down, but more about this later. I have noticed a few tiny mistakes during my playthrough and I guess nobody else saw them or noticed the author about them so here I go: 1. somewhere in the middle of the level there's a yellow switch sticking out of a rock or some sort but manipulating it doesn't do anything. It's just there beeing useless. 2. the enemy with the button below it's stomach doesn't jump high enough the first times so he won't die when you touch the button. Don't know if that was your intention but now you have to wait till he jumps the highest (3rd time) before you can kill him. 3. at the end just before the boss fight there's also a problem. It's at the point where you meet your friend one last time who gives you hints about the fight to come. If you jump and miss here you fall and there's no fog to kill you so I ended up on the blank floor of the level. Now about the boss fight. You had to push a series of buttons to destroy him. The concept was not bad but the design of the boss was really not up to the high standards of the rest of the level. I'm guessing you're a creator like myself who can do nice things with scenery but has trouble with designing characters / boss fights. So we've come to the evaluation! LIKES: + beautiful art style + plays well DISLIKES: -design of the end boss was a letdown in comparison to the beautiful scenery -some small things that still need correction (see points mentioned) -gets a tiny bit repetitive around the middle I rated it 4 stars and here's my score: 84% a beautifully crafted level with a dissapointing enemy/boss design to prevent it from getting an even higher score. Nevertheless, job well done once again! ps: i noticed you have played my quickly made level wild west sheriffs, did you like that a bit? it was made to test the paintgun as I recently bought the expansion pack (and now the monster pack) | 2009-10-13 13:20:00 Author: nightwing Posts: 422 |

DISLIKES - ... that are unfortunately sometimes waaay too hard - could have used more checkpoints SCORE: 72% Thanks for the review. I'm sorry you gave up, the boss at the end is the best part, or so iv'e been told. The level has infinite checkpoints, so I don't understand how adding more would help? There's basically a checkpoint before and after every obstacle. I probably won't change anything as plenty of people have completed it, so it is doable. Not complaining here, but I don't think the level is to hard at points; I think most LBP users lack patience. But then again, I just may be an elite sackboy because i've played and comlpeted other levels that put the difficulty of my level to shame. If you wanna know what hard is, check out Harder Lands by Clarkdef or The End is Nigh by MrAmorphous! But once again, thanks for your honest opinion. | 2009-10-13 21:53:00 Author: Unknown User |
You're welcome I felt that the 2nd obstacle with the platforms on springs and electric ceilings needed a checkpoint halfway through on the long platform in between the 2x2 platforms with springs and a checkpoint on one of the middle rotating wheels. that way, when you die you won't have to redo the entire obstacle. Maybe I'm not that good at platforming but I really had a lot of troubles here. It is possible for certain players but I reviewed it from a normal or novice player's point of view and it really was a little too hard. my opinion of course , I liked the level for the rest | 2009-10-13 22:44:00 Author: nightwing Posts: 422 |

Could you review my level please. I've read some of the reviews and they are very in-depth and honest. Level Name: Whispers in the Darkness PSN: shindol REVIEW: Whispers in the darkness by shindoll Well, beeing a true horror fan I couldn't resist playing this level the moment a review was requested. So here we are, ready to dive into the spooky atmosphere of Whispers in the darkness ... This is my second creepy adventure type level that I review, so direct comparison between this and the siren ep2 level is almost unavoidable. The first thing you notice when you start this level is the bedroom where the player is awoken by a strange whisper. Immediately the amazing level of detail is shown here. This creator really tried to make each room in the house full of detail and custom made objects. This is a very good and smart thing to do in adventure games. Since there is not that much gameplay you need to make sure the viewer is attracted by each environment, wanting to see more of the world. Shindoll definately succeeds in this department. Now, even looking fantastic, the same environment over and over again gets boring after a while. Luckily the creator knew this and added some nice other locations such as church, graveyard and pub-like building including a cellar and toilets. Once more, the detail is very good. Gameplay wise the author lets us use stickers to point and click and this works very well. It takes a while to get used too, but soon enough you'll get the hang of it. My only small complaint here is that somehwere in the beginning I didn't get a sticker right away after doing the right action, but on second attempt it worked fine. Maybe I had to go somewhere else first before it was activated. Anyway, where Siren only featured 1 half creepy moment with the Shibito zombie sounds here you get treated to several ghostly appearances. The background story of this level is really interesting and unfolds itself very slowly upon progressing in the level. Unfortunately at the end when you find the diary I got stuck as I have clicked on everything and got no clues anymore to what to do. Maybe suggesting a hint at this point would be best. So, up to the conclusion LIKES: + beautiful art style + nice gameplay mechanic with the stickers + varied locations DISLIKES: - maybe a hint at the point where you get the diary would have been great SCORE: 87% We have a winner for best adventure game I've played so far. Very nice job ! please try my wild west sheriffs level with some feedback if you want to say thanks for the work : | 2009-10-14 22:16:00 Author: nightwing Posts: 422 |

Hey can you review my level? PSN: FightinRedPanda1 Level: Neon Sound | 2009-10-15 00:34:00 Author: Mod5.0 Posts: 1576 |
REVIEW: NEON SOUND Well this was something different than usual. An entire level made of objects of the vr training room in the metal gear solid pack. The first thing you notice is that the level is VERY dark. The neon objects come out really well in this darkness and the owner has made good advantage of it. The level contains some platforming elements where neon lights show you the way. I must say that it plays really well for the most part. My only small drawback would be that it may be a bit too dark for some people. At points I had to jump on platforms and I didn't even see my own sackboy! Maybe some lights to show the path can make this even better. Overall, I must say the visuals were more than ok to me. I especially liked the words ' JUMP ' or 'PULL' in neon letters. That was cool and futuristic! So here's my evaluation LIKES + easy and relaxing platforming + nice use of the neon objects DISLIKES -sometimes really too dark -could have used some puzzle to make it stand out more SCORE: 78% | 2009-10-16 18:53:00 Author: nightwing Posts: 422 |
Level Name: Many Worlds In One <<>> Part 1 PSN: Inthenow543 THNX!!!! REVIEW: MANY WORLDS IN ONE What a strange title. I wonder how this plays? "runs to playstation, starts lbp and activates the level" But enough of the funny talking, we are here with a mission! Let's see what inthenow543 made of this platforming level. I must say the beginning reminded me a lot on the city in the sky level I reviewed some time ago. This one starts off exactly the same in a city in the sky, but uses a completely different art look. I must say the visuals in the beginning were very good although I had some trouble with entire rocks floating in the sky. I have seen Bonner take care of this part better visually as he used propellors on to rocks to show why the objects flew. Nevertheless it looks good here and you soon find out you have to defeat an evil enemy who has built a factory in the sky. From this point on the level changes from nice visually to nice gameplay. It looks a bit weird as you enter something completely different and it really feels like you're in a different world / level all of a sudden. I thought well that's sloppy, he should have stayed with the same look. But then again the title clearly states many worlds. So I guess you can say his flag covers the load pretty good It is in this factory that you get to solve some great puzzles where obviously the creator put a lot of time in constructing. And it shows. The puzzles are very well thought out and never too hard so kudos on that. Finally the author sets the player up for the sequal(s) to come, which is nice. LIKES: + variation in the level + some cool puzzle(s) + visual style of the first part was very good DISLIKES: - but the visual style of the second and third part was slightly less. (a bit inconsistencies in the materials used) SCORE: 81% | 2009-10-16 19:02:00 Author: nightwing Posts: 422 |
PSN: lozynmymnd Level Name: Generic Dungeon Crawler Level REVIEW: Generic Dungeon Crawler Level Mmm... the level description starts off well with a introduction to the story, but once you start this baby up you can't help but feel dissapointed. I'm sorry to be harsh on this one but I feel this level needed a little bit more playtesting. The beginning has you swinging on birds and using a sticker to get over a wall, but this part is pretty hard because some chains don't go up high enough to jump over to the next bird. Visually it falls flat as there 's almost no custom object made here and it feels a bit empty. However, something strange happens near the end. When you reach your destination a mighty dragon awaits you! I was pleasantly surprised here as that dragon looked very very nice. Can't help but feel like you've gotten help from someone here Well, you may thank him because that dragon made the whole playthrough fun. It was a great boss (although not hard) but after beating him I got stuck and couldn't finish the level. This part needs some work. Overall, let's see how you've done : LIKES: +fantastic dragon design DISLIKES: -everything else (no custom art, no original obstacles, not possible to end the level, no sound effects, no lighting effects, no dialogue ...) You really need to give this level another go or start from scratch and use the dragon scene as end boss. Please don't misunderstand me, I really hope you continue to create levels and try your best. This one is a failure but I presume you're still learning all the things. Don't let your hopes down and give it another try ! My verdict is very harsh but honest : SCORE: 50% (without the dragon 40%) | 2009-10-16 19:11:00 Author: nightwing Posts: 422 |

May I have a review of my level Dreamscape? Thanks in advance. REVIEW: Dreamscape by Bonner123 Tum tum tum ... Another platforming level from the well respected author Bonner123. Can this dreamscape really be a dream come true or will this level fall flat on it's belly and turn out to be a nightmare instead? Find out below! One can't help but have a deja-vu when starting this level as there are a lot of visual similarities to the brilliant Pale level here. Everything looks like Pale, but with a bit of visual flair from the author's city in the sky thrown in the mix. Basically you could say this level looks like an upgraded Pale, which is a good thing. Again the author used only a few materials which create a cohesive and professional look throughout the level. It doesn't wow but it feels very polished and this time some nice visual touches were added. I can't tell them all here, but you'll be sure to notice some propellors on the platforms, some nice inhabitants of this dream world and the overall look just seems more varied. This time around more curves (no sexual reference made here ;-) ) are thrown in together with small touches and this helps to improve the visuals from Pale. Not that hey were bad in the first place, but here they are slightly better. Gameplay wise everything plays really well again, much like Pale. You really feel like you're in a professional platforming level made by MM. There are some nice touches here as well as 1 area in particular makes good use of the camera tool to show 3 entrances. Only one entrance gives you a safe passage while the others kill you. I loved this part as this is original and very well built. Also some nice platforms that lift you out in the air for some jumpy gameplay feel fresh and fun. Kudos for this! My only small complaint here is that at one point I died a lot of times and couldn't finish the level because of that. Maybe a checkpoint with infinite lives at the halfway point could help to avoid frustration of not being able top finish the level? I can't really tell you where it was exactly but I think near 3/4 in. Also in one point where you jump into a fenced lifted area for some extra points, you can't jump out again. Only death is an escape. Maybe this was intended ? Anyways, these are only small complaints on an otherwise very good level. I've mentioned this in the beginning of my review already, this level feels like PALE on steroids as everything has been upped a notch. I feel the author did everything he could with the platforming genre, and I suggest if he wants even higher scores on my reviews he changes to a more fantasy setting with lots of detail like city in the sky but even better Let's see how this level worked out for me: LIKES + clean polished look with some nice details added in + platforming gameplay not too hard but fun all the way DISLIKES - some small issues (mentioned above) and maybe some more point bubbles could have been added. Well, this was a though one to call actually. I feel this is your best work yet and deserves a very good rating. However I'm doubting about the classic or very good rating... here's my choice: SCORE: 88% very good platforming level | 2009-10-21 20:38:00 Author: nightwing Posts: 422 |

Yeah I played it and it's pretty nice. Ill leave some feedback. Could you also review my first level The Untold Story of the Companion Cube? Thanks Again! REVIEW: THE UNTOLD STORY OF THE COMPANION CUBE by bonner123 Well, it's been a busy 'bonner' evening for me as now I review the author's very first level he put on LBP servers! Let's see how he started off. The story is very simple but sweet, you have to try and get a cube to the end of the level while not crushing it or having yourself killed during the process. I liked this idea, it reminded me a bit on ICO where you had to take care of a little princess girl. It starts off fairly well here, with some nice puzzles (not too hard though) but then I encountered something I'm not too fond off. One part near the beginning had me jumping down some platforms to then jump into a platform in the water with gas below. I never could make this jump as I always jumped on that platform in the water or fell in the gas :-( Such a shame because I really wanted to see more of the level but couldn't make that jump near the beginning. As a result it's very hard for me to make a decent review of this level. Maybe my jumping skills where not that good but I felt it was difficult. The visual style of the level was pretty basic but okay. I didn't wow me but I thought it wasn't ugly at all so an okay job on the visuals. Did like the look of the cube, it seemed this was inspired by the cube from the Portal game on half life 2. Nicely remade LIKES: + the concept + didn't look bad at all DISLIKES: - too hard part at the beginning - not really a wow effect in this level (at least the first part I played) SCORE: There is only a 'spontaneous' score on this one as I couldn't see the most part of the level. From what I've seen so far: 73% a decent level and not bad at all for your first | 2009-10-21 20:47:00 Author: nightwing Posts: 422 |

REVIEW: All Dressed Up - by igotfancypants It's that time of the year again! Hooray ! I always love monsters and scary stuff so as you can guess Halloween is my favourite holiday! What better way than to celebrate this with a review of a halloween type level: All Dressed Up. So is this level a trick ... or a treat ? In this level you start off as a normal sackboy/girl who gets ready for trick or treating in his neighbourhood. Soon after you're on your way you notice some ghostly appearances and start to investigate an underground cavern. There's a short but sweet little story to this level with a fun surprise at the end. It's pretty basic but it works like a charm. When you start playing you will notice the environment and you will scream in delight as the entire first part of the level looks very good and has a great amount of lighting to it and a spooky atmosphere. One point even has a giant tentacle grabbing out to get you! But then a bit later something strange happens. Once you find yourself in the cavern the entire atmosphere shifts from a bit spooky but fun to still fun but .. well, less spooky. It becomes more like a level such as the perceiving of light by geosautus. Not that something is wrong with this part, not at all. In fact this second act features a very cool gameplay mechanic and some nice hanging bridges to climb. But more about that later. The 180? turn on the atmosphere was a bit odd, but because the gameplay was very enjoyable it never became a big issue for me. It just seems like the author had some doubts whether to go for a spooky level or an exploration type and decided to mix both a bit. In gameplay terms this level plays like a normal exploration type of level. You do some platform jumping, hang on some sponges and collect a bit of prices/points. The best thing about the level is near the end, where you get to control a mine cart while going down a shaft. This is very cool as you get to steer left and right to avoid the killer gas in certain spots. Nice Mechanic ! One thing that I had to mention here: at one point in the level you have to jump over fiery blocks. The second time you have to jump over these blocks the interval time is very short and you have to be very precise and quick in your jumps. Maybe this could be made a bit easier? But that's my only small complaint for an otherwise good level So is this spooky adventure level a trick or treat? LIKES: + nice atmospheric beginning + cool mine cart mechanic at the end + level plays good and is pretty fun DISLIKES: - one small thingy: the 180? turn in atmosphere as halfway in the level we suddenly get factory lights, moving rocks, and a whole different vibe when comparing to the spooky fun setting in the beginning. I liked the colourful, playful spooky setting a lot more than the second act setting. So as you can see this level is considered a treat! I recommend anyone to try this out, it's not frustrating, it plays good and looks very cool in the first section. SCORE: 82% gave it 4 stars and rating relaxing :-) | 2009-10-28 23:18:00 Author: nightwing Posts: 422 |

:blush:Thanks for the review! Yes, I will be making some slight changes... however the drastic turn in terms of lighting/environment is meant to be part of it. It is like "Woah, this is strange and new. Not at all like before" I will gladly make the fire ball part easier, as I've gotten some complaints from that part (won't be too much easier, because that would be too easy) About the part that looks like Sensation of Perceiving Light... I really don't want it to seem like I copied the environment I guess some people feel that it comes off that way. I will probably make a quick material change for that little bit as i realized that Sensation of Perceiving Light has the exact same ones xD If you think I should completely change up that section, I might. I've been getting mixed reactions. Some told me to keep it, others tell me that it is too similar to Geosautus' level. Thanks again! | 2009-10-28 23:27:00 Author: iGotFancyPants Posts: 1355 |

REVIEW: Stone Platformer by FightinRedPanda1 Hello everyone! I'm back with reviews And my latest victim is a platforming level! The name speaks for itself as this level involves sackboy trying to manoeuver through some stone constructions. The level starts off pretty confusing with a cryptic description for what seems to be pretty much clear from the start. After some jumping and swinging to an other section you get to jump vertically to reach the top of a stone block. After that a spinning wheel section comes where you have to use the momentum of the wheel to get to higher placed wheels. It's pretty basic but plays pretty good. My only small complaint here would be that the first spinning wheel needs to rotate a bit faster to make it easier for less experienced players. Graphically, the level doesn't look like much as a setting seems to be missing. This is a bit of a pity since the level plays pretty good. Upon seeing the rating of 2 stars I was ready for some crappy gameplay but was pleasantly surprised. This level does nothing really really good but also nothing really bad either. It's not trying to be shakespeare but succeeds in what it does. a simple platformer centered around stone blocks. So let's come to the conclusion: LIKES: + plays well, nothing wrong with the mechanics DISLIKES: - could use more polish in terms of graphics by adding a setting and decorations to that setting. REVIEW: trick or die by Awesomemans Groovy ! A halloween level for me to review I cannot hide my personal taste, and that is that I absolutely love spooky levels and horror themed settings. So I ventured into the dark world Awesomemans had in store for me. As my sackboy moved carefully through the dark, he suddenly sees himself in a giant pumpkin ride accompanied by a ghouly music from the monsters pack. I must say this introduction scene was really nice and had the words FUN written all over it. After that the real levels begins and has sackboy starting to ring a doorbell for trick or treating. After nobody answers the door he enters the mansion and falls into a dark cave like area. The beginning of an adventure! From here, you have to do some basic running around and jumping to get over obstacles. Nothing spectacular but it works fine. Just when you think it's not going to be very action packed you get to play some small paintgun scenes where you fire at halloween enemies. Unfortunately the camera tool was not used here so I could not really see the enemies completely. That's a pity and needs to be fixed. Bravely my sackboy overcame the dangers and found himself in an elevator somewhere underground. As expected something happens here (which I'm not going to spoil). I do have a big complaint with this scene. When the surprise happens, you can see to the right some keys and mechanics of how the level works. I don't think this was intended by the creator so maybe he can cover that up? Soon after this "surprise" happens I got into a different world! Halloween world was very colourful and had a brilliant scene in the middle of it. The bouncing monster platforms were very cute and reminded me a bit of joey's halloween level which is a big compliment. When reaching the end you encounter a boss enemy in the form of giant, rotating pumpkin. I felt this boss was a bit hard since the spawn point was at a place where it was very hard to get back under the boss to kill him. This could use some work. So does this level give me the chills or not? Find out in the judgement below! LIKES: + nice intro scene + graphically okay + brilliant fuzzy bouncing platforms scene in halloween world DISLIKES: - paint gun scenes need more polish as enemies cannot be seen sometimes - boss battle was a bit of a letdown - one switch was visible Overall I was satisfied with this level although it could use some more work to make it even better. For now, it's a pretty good attempt at a fun halloween level. SCORE: 79% | 2009-11-07 10:55:00 Author: nightwing Posts: 422 |
REVIEW: SIREN: The Lost World [Episode 3- Holes] by Exalted_Yawn (creepy sounds) .. .. (footsteps coming closer) .. ... (heart pounding) .... (sackboy opens his eyes and sees himself in a mining facility) Welcome to the best entry in the SIREN series so far! There, I've said it! Instead of giving a short introduction I think most of us are familiar with the SIREN type levels from Exalted Yawn. So I figured let's get the facts straight immediatly: this level is brilliant ! The entire level takes place in an underground mining facility, the perfect place for a claustrophobic adventure game. Your goal is pretty simple. You have to try to reach the surface and escape this dreaded mine where things lurk in the dark. A small warning for players before they begin though. This level is an adventure level, so you have to do some backtracking in search for objects. However if you can overcome this small obstacle you will find a very enjoyable level here. Easily the best in the series for me. Now you're probably wondering, what makes this level so great and better than the previous parts? Well, for starters there's the difficulty setting at the beginning. I played the easy way (Im' sorry but I'm a noob in adventure games) and got some tips on how to finish the level which was very helpful. I suppose that on hard you don't get tips at all so you have to do a lot of thinking for yourself which is great for people who like a challenge. Furthermore, the setting here is brilliant. A mine is much more claustrophobic and spooky than hauses or old carnival rides. The creator really did his best to make everything look very good. Also on the mechanics part there are some nice puzzles and a great use of skill. In the beginning there 's a great ladder scene where you climb a ladder. They way this is done is fantastic. There's not really a scene where you say amazing, but the overall look is great. All scenes look good and have some nice objects to look at. I liked the mine cart halfway the level, the lockers where the miners kept their gear, the elevator shaft and so on. Lighting is also used really well here to help create a spooky atmosphere. Now, since I reviewed a previous level (part 2) it's only natural that I compare this level to that one. In part 2 I gave the criticism (or advice) to use some spooky thrills in between the backtracking and running around as this would help make the level more exciting. The creator listened very well to me as I feel this one has quite a few scary scenes and one absolutely brilliant scene involving a mine cart when you pass a second time! I will not ruin more of the scenes as I feel this level is something you have to play for yourself. Do not worry about the adventure aspect, it's not that hard and can be enjoyed by everyone. You may have noticed my long review, I feel this level deserves the attention. I gave this one 5stars in the lbp rating system and here's my evaluation: LIKES: + cool, nicely detailed setting + great adventure game, not too hard anymore (thanks to difficulty setting?) + great puzzles (like the bolt cutter - mine cart puzzle) + nice scares (mine cart - shibito appearance and so on) + nice ladder mechanic + good atmosphere DISLIKES: - no idea So, by now you probably already know this will be a new entry in my top 3 list for best levels of 2009. Will it be good enough to overthrow ghost of sparta, count of saint claire prologue or descent 2? the answer lies below: SCORE: 91 % Best adventure game so far for me, even better than whispers in the dark as it's not frustrating to search for objects, the setting is fantastic and it has some nice scares to avoid repetitive scenes. At the end there's even a bonus! You can use a sticker you aqcuire to give the level a 2nd playthrough to solve another quest. Very nice addition as this adds to the replay value. new top 3 1. THE DESCENT 2 :93% 2. SIREN: The Lost World [Episode 3- Holes] / 91 % 3. Count of St Claire : prologue : 90% ghost of sparta (89%) tumbles out of the top 3. Congratulations to the creator Exalted_Yawn for delivering the best adventure type - SIREN level out there in my opinion. | 2009-11-07 11:14:00 Author: nightwing Posts: 422 |

Please can you review my level Hallowe'en Troubles! If thats not right just search my name. Thanks! REVIEW: HALLOWE'EN TROUBLES ! by createnplay Well, it seems the LBP servers were just in time restored for me to do some reviews I decided to start with the more spooky one, as I feel halloween is only just passed us so it's still the right time for such a level. First thing you notice when playing this level is that it starts out in black and white. It's a bit strange, but I feel the author used this to try and create a halloween town look with atmoshpere and without too much graphical detail. It's a bit of a mixed success as it succeeds in creating a more eerie atmosphere but the lack of more orginal town design is a bit of a pity. Not that it looks bad, not at all, it's just a bit 'standard' as all the houses seem normal and the author uses figures from the original game which doesn't help to create an original look. Anyway, the story has you trying to stop a big ghost/monster from destroying halloween town and the king asks for your help. A brave sackboy as you are, you venture into this dark world and face some spooky situations. Halfway the level the colours return to a more normal look and I notice a strange material choice of a chinese like wall material. Not quite fitting with the mood you're creating but overall the material choice was ok. It's at this halfway point that you encouter in my opinion the best part of the level. It's a clever mechanic that you have to use to destroy some ghosts. I liked this part a lot and the lighting here was also great! After a bit more walking you encounter the boss. Sadly all you have to do is shoot him 20 times with the paintgun and he's dead. I couldn't help but feel a missed opportunity as you could do a lot of cool things with a ghost enemy (for example small ghosts shooting out at you, slime balls to avoid, creepy minions that interfere...). This brings me to a conclusion. Is this level halloween worthy or not? I have mixed feelings about it... LIKES: + mechanic used to destroy ghosts near 3/4 in the level + plays ok and isn't boring DISLIKES: - not a lot of original art - some material choices don't fit well within the theme - boss fight hugely dissapointing SCORE: 69 % | 2009-11-12 18:39:00 Author: nightwing Posts: 422 |

Ello again Nightwing, i've got a new level done and i'd love to get a review on that Psn: Kn0cked-0ut Level: Ghost of Sparta - The depths of Hades REVIEW: GHOST OF SPARTA THE DEPTHS OF HADES by Knocked-Out To aaaaaaarms! Another God of Sparta level has arrived! The last one only recently lost it's 3rd place on my podium of best levels of the year '(see first page). Will this one re-claim one of the top spots? Let's find out! As a dark, misty cloud drifts by, you see yourself sitting in a boat sailing on the river of lost souls in the depths of Hades. A creepy skeleton / boatsman peddles our hero accross the river of dead. I must say this introduction scene gives me the chills. Everything from the detail of the environment to the lighting is top notch. Knocked Out could'nt have started his level better in my opinion. After you set foot on land (well, sort of) you have some platforming to do. Nothing difficult but atmospheric and pretty fun. I will not spoil a lot in this review because the level is -once again- very short. Let's just skip to the highlights and say that after some running and jumping you reach a very well done puzzle. This involves pillars coming out of the ground in different ways and with different time intervals. Ghost of Sparta has to figure out which ones to activate in which order to reach a higher ledge. Kudos for this great puzzle! Once this obstacle is overcome we already face the boss of this level. Now, as you remember from my review on the 1st ghost of sparta level this author nows his bossfights. Yet again, he delivers an epic boss in the form of the (cerebrus) 3 headed dog from hell. The monster looks fantastic and I like the way you pull one of this heads of in the beginning. My only small complaint would be that the rock used to kill the second head is a bit heavy. It took me more than 1 minute of pulling and pushing to finally get it to fall down over the edge. After killing the boss we come to the one big negative in this level. I'm sorry to say it's once more very short. I did the test in comparing the gameplay time with the first ghost of sparta level and this one's a tiny bit longer but that's only due to the long introduction / pillar puzzle. Not that it's a big issue, I'd rather have short and sweet than long and mediocre Just feels like the author always leaves us with a hunger not entirely fulfilled. So I must come to the conclusion. Is this level good enough to be among the best ? Does it surpass the first ghost of sparta level ? The answer is yes, but only by a tight margin. LIKES: + fantastic introduction + great boss fight (although a bit easy) + atmospheric + great puzzle near the end DISLIKES: - once more a bit too short SCORE: 90 % This level reaches number 3 again in a tie game with prologue of st claire! Congratulations! You owe this 1 percentage higher score mainly to the great introduction part of the level as this was amazing. | 2009-11-12 18:55:00 Author: nightwing Posts: 422 |

Thanks for the review nightwing Love how you write about levels, awesome job! The problem with the levels I make is that I usually don't think about the thermo and I put alot of unnessecary details in it that many people won't even notice : I also like to glue alot so everything will be stuck together and that sucks up alot of thermo.. I know how to build from now on so you can expect the next Ghost of Sparta to be alot longer Had to choose between a cool intro or a longer level this time and I chose the intro because I thought it was more original and fun than three OK obstacles.. Im going to look at the contest thread you were talking about now, ~kn0 | 2009-11-12 20:57:00 Author: Kn0cked-0ut Posts: 562 |

Hey, you probably don't remember me, but you reviewed my level "Many Worlds In One <<>> Part 1" By Inthenow543. I made a second one in the series. Its called: Many Worlds In One <<>> Part 2 PSN: Inthenow543 Hope you can review it. REVIEW: MANY WORLDS INTO ONE PART 2 by amuseme543 Guess who's back? na na na na na ... no you idiots it's not batman It's time again for another review and this time a follow up to the well received many worlds into one part 1 level. I know, the title could have used a bit more originality but I guess it helps define the level as a sequal in the series. So on to the gameplay! First thing that I notice is a sackboy in a screen telling me that I have to face 3 different worlds, each one harder than the previous. I couldn't really follow the story anymore since I didn't replay part 1 so maybe a quick refresh could have been welcome here. Our young sackboy hero is determined to survive these levels and begins his journey in the gardens. I have to be honest here, I didn't like the gardens level at all. It's supposed to be an easy start, and it is, but the visuals are really a bit mediocre to say the least. I expected something more refined and beautiful from this author but was dissapointed with his presentation of the first act. However, things don't remain like this, because as soon as act 2 (the colosseum) starts you'll see the visuals and gameplay take a strong rise to the positive side. It 's almost like both acts were made by entirely different creators. Visually you'll see nice scenery and objects and the style is very true to the look of a colloseum. Also gameplay wise it gets a lot better. When our sackboy crosses a bridge suddenly the entire look changes and it's almost silhouette like for an instant. It gets so dark I couldn't even see a trap and walked right into it. The title of the third part was almost unreadable to me but after some trying I could make PORT out of it. One thing that's really strange here is that at the beginning you need to figure out puzzle or some sort of bringing together certain cubes. Unfortunately there's no explanation at all about what I need to do so I couldn't figure it out and had to leave the level early :/. A bit more help at that point could be very useful as I feel this can frustrate a lot of people. One last thing I didn't mention and it's a big positive is the use of the 3d glitch. There are some scenes that make great use of this and I applaud you for this It's only a pity that this level starts and ends very weak so most players will quit after a few moments or will only remember the less good final act when judging. So now it's time for the evaluation, can this level match the solid gameplay and visuals of the first part? LIKES: + second act colosseum was very nice graphically and had good gameplay + 3d layer glitch was used in a great way in act 2 and the beginning of act 3 DISLIKES: - first act was rubbish - third act needed more information about what to do exactly I rated this level 3 stars ingame mainly because I really liked the second act colosseum. SCORE: 71% I don't like to be negative but I feel I need to be honest on this one. I liked the first part a lot more than this :/ However I'm pretty sure your next level will be better again! | 2009-11-15 17:07:00 Author: nightwing Posts: 422 |

Man theese reviews are to nice =( I hope you mean that they are very good? :-) Otherwise if you mean I'm too nice in my scores, I don't think I'm too forgiving. I do give negative points and less good scores if a level isn't very good. So far I have not yet seen much crappy levels so the average scores I give are around 70%. One of my trademarks is that I will never crack a level down to the ground if I see that the creator did put a lot of work in it. If you want very harsh reviews you should check out a certain somebody's review topic ;-) Tomorrow I will review ALL the other levels that have not gotten a review so stay tuned ! | 2009-11-17 23:11:00 Author: nightwing Posts: 422 |
Could you please review Flow? It will be the last level I will make for a while so yeah... There sometimes is a problem at a certain obstacle where a block doesn't descent fully. If that happens you need to restart. Thanks in advance! REVIEW: FLOW by bonner123 Another creation of bonner123 always makes me happy as his levels never dissapointed so far. Will this new masterpiece equal the fun I've had with the previous entries? For this review I can be pretty short. It's actually more of the same, meaning it's the same visual style and platforming gameplay like Pale. This can either be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on how much you liked the author's previous work. The look works well for me and the gameplay is as expected. Although I do feel there's a bit of dust on the formula after 3 similar levels. I feel the novelty has gone away. Everything works pretty good and looks pretty good again, it just didn't give me the same amount of fun the previous one's did. One scene got me a bit frustrated. This involves cubes in the fore and background and you have to jump from cube to cube. The problem with this scene is that sackboy tends to miss his jumps or jump before or after a cube. This is not really the creator's fault, but it's a small mistake in the design by LBP. It's best to avoid jumping scenes in between layers when there's back and foreground active as well. So now on to the verdict! Does this level deliver the goods? LIKES: + professional design and look + again a solid level DISLIKES - more of the same (although enjoyable) - 1 frustrating scene SCORE: 80% | 2009-11-18 19:45:00 Author: nightwing Posts: 422 |
Hey nightwing, can you review my level A Sleeping Haze ? It was an old project of mine that I just recently finished up and published! Let me know what you think! Thanks! REVIEW: A SLEEPING HAZE by igotfancypants Amazing! There's no other way to start this review. This has to be one of the best silhouette levels out there. I really enjoyed this level very much, from the fun gameplay to the sober but atmospheric / moody visuals. This level has really nice platforming gameplay, not too hard but still a challenge. I cannot say much about it because that would ruin the gameplay but you'll see all sort of variations on jumping puzzles. LIKES: + very atmospheric + sober but nice look + very fun to play DISLIKES: maybe a bit simple in terms of background, some birds or moving objects would make the level even better and feel more alive SCORE: 86% | 2009-11-18 20:06:00 Author: nightwing Posts: 422 |

Can you review my new level - The Lair EX (Snow Race). It's part of my Lair series so make sure you use the whole title to avoid any confusion. The level is a short race with a unique twist i've never seen done before. REVIEW: The Lair EX (Snow Race) by beatdough Aaah, a race level! It's my very first race level I get to review so I'm pretty excited about this. I've played some pretty interesting and nice race levels over the last year in LBP, such as the racing cheeta's, buggy races and motorstorm levels. Can this hold it's own against such fierce competition? You start off in a mountain cabin which is really well designed and looks just like the real thing. A bit further up ahead two snowscooters await you. Now, there's an interesting mechanic here. Instead of just hitting the throttle and letting the creator decide who will win, here you are in control of your own victory or demise. By tapping the grab button you have to give a bit of throttle each time. This is a technique used by the olympic games 100m sprint and works well here. Only downside is it's pretty heavy fysically to keep tapping like a madman till the finish You'll race through some snow environments and a cave, nothing spectacular but it looks pretty okay. LIKES: + great mechanic which uses skill to win a race (or quick fingers) + mountain cabin was nicely designed DISLIKES: -missing some scripted events to make the race even more exciting SCORE: 83% well done! I really liked this race level and felt this deserved more than the 3 stars ingame rating. If you spice things up a bit in terms of scripted events (explosion, mountain avalanche, rocks falling down, water dripping in the cave, penguins running away ...) this could be a great level. | 2009-11-18 22:56:00 Author: nightwing Posts: 422 |

yeah I was just brainstorming a bit :-) you don't really have to limit events to the middle layer. You can let water drip on all layers when you are in the cave and set the water particles to dissapear after 3 seconds just before hitting your scooter for example you can have birds flying over all three layers in the sky and use a camera angle to show them to the player. stuff like that really adds life and visuals to the level. For now I feel the mechanic works great and the execution is perfect, but you are missing some visual flair to get 4 star ratings from everybody. | 2009-11-20 17:40:00 Author: nightwing Posts: 422 |
I actually was thinking about a way to add birds or some other form of wild life yesterday. The truth though is when i planned this level, i was just realling focusing on the head-to-head aspect of the race. It was kind of a weekend project that turned out really well, no real planning. I already had the snowmobiles, i just needed a way to showcase the work I put into them since it took me quite a few versions to get them to work. They used to have ski's in the front, but they weren't too reliable. But yeah, i think i'm going to try and add some more visuals soon. The funny thing is the visuals kinda take a back seat for me when i'm tapping R1 like crazy to make it to the end! | 2009-11-20 20:03:00 Author: Unknown User |
ahh finally....i have access to my ps3 again.... ok i done my best to fix up the levels. iv tried to give some hints....but i dont wanna make it too easy for people. im a bit worried ill edn up telling them what to do rather than guid them....mostly the help is in the form of arrows and such like....but never too obvious though | 2009-11-22 18:11:00 Author: Xegethra Posts: 207 |

Hey nightwing I know you've already done a mini review on this level but I was wondering if you wanted to do a full on review. PSN: DRLONG Level Name: Jurassic Park P.S. I took all of your suggestions from the thread and found a way to implement them into the level so I think you will find the newer version more appealing. I can't wait to hear your views on what else I could change or add since I do want my level to be the best it can be! Just don't forget that it is EXTREMELY close to overheating so if you would want to see anything else in the level I would definitely have to get rid of something. Well I hope you get a chance to play it again and I hope you'll like it better! | 2009-12-03 02:31:00 Author: DRLONG Posts: 57 |

Hey Nightwing! Was wondering if you managed to have a look at 'Monster Rescue'? If not would love to hear your thoughts! PSN: verymalty Level title: Monster Rescue REVIEW: MONSTER RESCUE by verymalty Well, after overlooking this one for quite some time, finally found the opportunity to review this atmospheric monster pack level. The story here is pretty short, but sufficient in giving you a goal. You have to free the ogre's son from the wicked goblin who lives in the dark forest in a cave. While this level doesn't really have new things not seen before, I feel that everythiing has a great mood to it. It's got monsters, nice atmospheric lighting but it remains very friendly and fun. Those of you expecting a fright fest full of creatures are not going to like this level. However, if you like a level with monsters but with a fun and relaxing mood to it, you've come to the right place. One scene in this level was a great example of the attention and care the author put into this. A scene where you jump on elevating platforms with skulls on them. When you jump on one the skeletons light up and your hear a creepy noise. This attention to detail shows the effort the author put into this level to make it look and sound good. There's a section where you have to swing across huge tentacles, hang on to giant spiders, evade flaming balls coming out of a gigantic creature... More than enough to entertain! Of course, a boss fight is as well present here. I will not spoil this boss fight but it was a bit of a let down. The goblin was defeated far too easily to provide any challenge. Now on to the verdict. Does this level pack a monstery punch? LIKES: + good atmosphere + nice creature design and a lot of different creatures to defeat / evade + fun DISLIKES: - boss fight was a letdown Since there's not much wrong with this fun level, I will give it a good score SCORE: 85% well done monster level ! | 2009-12-12 11:58:00 Author: nightwing Posts: 422 |
[QUOTE=DRLONG;343580]Hey nightwing I know you've already done a mini review on this level but I was wondering if you wanted to do a full on review. PSN: DRLONG Level Name: Jurassic Park REVIEW: JURASSIC PARK by drlong Tum tuuuuum tum tuuuuuuum te te teeeeem te tem tem teeeeem... Who doesn't recognise the awesome jurassic parc tune from that great 90's movie? While the following movies didn't really live up to their full potential, the first one was full of scares, fun and great looking dinosaurs! So it's only logical that I expect a lot of a level that's been in development for a long time AND that uses the movie as inspiration. I will try to avoid too much spoilers here as I feel you must enjoy this level for yourself. It's really, really great and although there are some minor setbacks, don't let them get in your way of playing this till the finish. But more about that later! The introduction scene is very cool and gives a scary vibe to the level. Great was my surprise when you suddenly appear in a desert like environment (just like mr grant in the jp movie looking for bones). Everything looks really detailed and the helicopter that picks you up is amazingly created. From this desert setting we quickly arrive in Jurassic Parc. Those of you who have seen the movie probably already now what to expect in this level. We ride in an amazingly detailed jeep, and of course the T-rex comes. this scene is wonderfully done and features an almost exact replica of the movie. Great, Great stuff ! We then have to turn the power back on in a bunker. Here we encounter some creepy scenes with raptors popping out and 2 amazing scenes in the dark where we see a silhouette of a raptor devouring a man. The creator definately listened to my feedback on his first version of this level as he made this part more creepy as requested. Good job on that! However there are some minor issues here. In a certain scene you have to walk over some rosters while raptors claw at you through them. At the end just before the sponge material there's a place where you die when you land on it and there's no dino limb to be seen. A small thingy on an otherwise great level so far. We then prepare ourselfs for a great finale in which we encounter the T-rex another time. Again, great action scene and nice replica of the original movie. My only small complaint here is that the author made it darker and more creepy which is good, but it could really use some very light atmospheric lighting (maybe at the feet of t -r ex and shining up) because now everything 's so dark that you miss some details on this visual feast. Let see how this level did! LIKES: +graphically amazing , from the indoor locations to the outdoor ones to the creature design. All top notch! +follows the key points of the movie almost perfectly +best t- rex scene in lbp ever made +good sound design +long level which is great if the quality is this good DISLIKES: - some very, very minor setbacks Those of you who have followed my reviews from the beginning know that I 'm not too harsh on levels if I see the author really did his best and put his time in it. Those of you who followed me from the very start also know that although Im' not too harsh I rarely give 90 or more percent. I feel this time I have to cross the 90's border again SCORE: 93% amazing level and my new number one together with descent 2 !!! | 2009-12-12 12:16:00 Author: nightwing Posts: 422 |

Hi Lady! glad you're back Of course I'll be very happy to review your level as most of your works are of a great quality This reminds me of something I had to post here. Every day I play new LBP levels and the quality is really amazing. I mean, if you made a ton of levels like myself and you see some of the masterpieces people have made... You can really tell countless hours went into making them. Hi nightwing, could you review my latest installement of Legend of a Hero saga? Title: Legend of a Hero (ch.3) PSNID: Miglioshin Thank you in advance. REVIEW: Legend of a Hero (ch.3) by Miglioshin Well, I'm back again with the first of my last reviews of 2009 Will the top spot be threatened by this latest entry? Having not previously played the first 2 chapters of this adventure level, I was unaware of what I could suspect. My little sackboy entered cautiously this colourful world. The first thing you notice in this level is the visual style. It's a strange mix of silhouette visuals, colourful looney tune visuals and old nintendo zelda dungeon / cave visuals. Although this combination may seem a bit weird to most of you, I must say it works pretty good here. The whole level really has a zelda feel to it, which in my opinion is a great compliment. The graveyard shilouette visual style is wonderfully done and creates a great atmosphere, while the more zelda type textures and walls give an original look to the dungeon scene. Now that's something I wanted to see for a long time. Nowadays almost everyone uses rock / stone as background and here the home made textures really gives this an original fresh look. Kudos for that! The level itself is actually a search in for some magical items which you need to overcome the obstacles on your path. You will walk on fire without having to die, you will battle a dragon like wyvern and do some platforming and puzzle solving in this world. Big was my surprise when I noticed this level only got 3 stars. I really feel it deserves more than this! Maybe it's because of the lack of action (there's actually only 1 battle scene) or the puzzle that you have to solve in the beginning (you have to memorize the look of paintings otherwise you get stuck) ? Although I can understand these minor complaints of sackboys, it really is not too hard to figure out the puzzles and I'm sure more fights will follow in other parts. So , let's see how this level has done, shall we my lord? LIKES: + unique visual style mix + nice wyvern fight DISLIKES: -could have used a bit more action as this was lacking a bit too much in that department SCORE: 81% | 2009-12-19 12:16:00 Author: nightwing Posts: 422 |
Heya! Any chance for a review of my latest level? Title: 'Planet X' REVIEW: Planet X by ladylyn Jump into your spacesuit for another outer space adventure! Will sackboy go boldly where no other sackboy has gone before? The introduction scene that kicks off our your hero's adventure is very well constructed and is very similar to the opening of dead space by darknessbear. After you witness the events occur, you see a cool neon introduction to the level and you arrive on planet x. Together with your trusted assistant you explore this planet and soon find out there's more than meets the eye. It seems there's an entire alien race living there and on top of that they seem to be after your assistant most of the time. What they want from him, I won't spoil here but it's a good twist to the story. As far as gameplay is concerned we get the usual platforming gameplay, followed by some laser evading and paintinator action. Everything climaxes at the end with a big shoot-out and explosion. It's all well designed and doesn't feel out of place as almost everything fits the theme well gameplay wise. However I do have some complaints on the visual department. While the beginning was amazing and very cool to look at, it soon became a bit of a visual bore. The interior of the alien settlement just all looked the same (expect for a plasma ball here and there or some lasers) and the design of the aliens themselves was a bit mediocre. In one part I saw stickers of fragile glass on some boxes... This was really a moodkiller as it didn't fit in with the rest of the scenery at all and felt more like a modern day warehouse level. Luckily, there was one part of the level which I found visually interesting besides the beginning: the sewers! I liked the sudden change into a more creepy setting but unfortunately almost nothing was done with this gameplay wise. I was expecting a monster of some sort to be down there but there really was nothing besides some dead bodies. One thing that was good about the visuals, was the lighting. I really liked some of the explosion and light effects and they really contributed to the level's appeal. All in all, this was a very good level which I rated 4 stars like most people. It IS a fun to play level, but just not spectacular enough visually and gameplay wise to warrant 5 in my opinion. LIKES: + good basic fun gameplay + some nice lighting effects + great introduction scene and visually beautiful beginning ... DISLIKES: - which is unfortunately followed by mediocre visuals in the second half - paintinator scenes were a bit too hard because you die a lot of times - missed some 'punch' to be really great SCORE: 85% | 2009-12-19 12:44:00 Author: nightwing Posts: 422 |

While the introduction scene here is a bit sloppy and hasty looking (jumps scene and text way too fast), the rest of the level looks pretty atmospheric and cool. Once you start your adventure, you immediatly notice the lighting effects. It's clear to see this creator put a lot of attention into that part of the visuals and it shows. From the gloomy, misty caves to the sunny outside, the author really adds a great mood to the level. Basically you encounter a wonderfully made fire ant, with who you must work together to find a way through a net of caves / tunnels with doors blocking your way. You need to go up and find 2 switches each time to lift the barrier so you and your newly found friend can continue on the journey of a lifetime. Unfortunately it all ends very quickly, but since there's already a part 2 out I'm sure this story is long but over. Gameplay wise this is not an easy level. The contraptions are well made, but mainly consist of you jumping from moving pillar to moving pillar. Timing is really essential here and this is not for the unexperienced player. Overall, I found this to be a decent level with a beautifully made fire ant and lighting effects but without originality or puzzles gameplay wise. LIKES: + nice fire ant design + cool lighting effects DISLIKES: - intro scene is not appealing with electric letters and some sloppy text that dissapears too fast - gameplay wise a bit too basic (jumping in between pillars has been done a zillion times) SCORE: 78 % | 2009-12-19 12:54:00 Author: nightwing Posts: 422 |

Its pretty hard to explain, however i'll give it a shot. Pull the wheel back the farthest it can go. Then roll the whell right. Jump and grab on 270-360 degree angle if you have enough speed. Thats the only way I can explain it. If you still need help, add me on the Psn and i'll get you past that part. | 2009-12-19 16:55:00 Author: bonner123 Posts: 1487 |

I just thought I'd point out that this level was meant to be quite funny. Hence the alien standing on a cardboard box (with a broken glass sticker on!) to point the gun at Bill. Visually it was pretty simple and thats exactly how i wanted it to be otherwise i would have had epic thermo problems. Do you think its too hard? Thanks very much with the review and im very pleased with 85%! | 2009-12-20 16:58:00 Author: ladylyn1 Posts: 836 |
Heeey again Well, the level itself is not too hard, but the paintgun action got me killed a lot of times. Especially the last battle sent me quite a few times to the graveyard. I would make that last part a bit easier, but for the rest you can leave everything as it is. I understand you had thermo problems, that explains why there was no big set piece anymore in the second half of the level. It's not that the second half of the level is bad looking. It still looks decent but when comparing to the great intro and cool planet surface (with the crashed space ship) it becomes repetitive after a while. But you can be proud, 85 is a good score I wish I could make levels like you do, but I don't have the skill for such quality. Merry X-mas ! | 2009-12-20 21:11:00 Author: nightwing Posts: 422 |

REVIEW WARHAMMER 40.000 PART 1 By The Gentleman Didn't quite understand the whole story of this level, but from what I can make from it there's a big war going on between 2 fractions and you're in the middle of the battle ! A little overuse of text balloons here, I feel they ruined the flow a bit of the level so I would suggest diminishing the amount of text in the beginning. From the get go, this level throws some nice bombastic music, explosions and sound effects your way. This makes you feel like you really are in a war zone. I especially liked the lighting effects during a bombardment (nice and lots of yellow flashing lights with explosions). However some things didn't quite add up in this level. For example, the different types of materials used where a bit amateurish in my opinion. It's always best to stick to 4 different materials and try not to get out of theme too much. The gameplay is a bit basic, you run and jump, shoot some enemies with the paintinator and try and make it to the end. There are some setbacks here, as one enemy that I killed near the end ( a big one with some sort of hammer) left his electrified hammer blocking the exit of the hallway. This caused me to die over and over again and forced me to quit. If the author can work out these bugs this level can become a solid 3 stars. For now it's more of a high end 2 star level with promise but in need of more fine tuning. Let's see how this level has done , shall we? LIKES: + nice light effects make you feel like you're in a real war DISLIKES: - too much random materials - a little buggy at times (enemy shot with paintgun can't die completely from it, only jumping on the brain kills it, electric enemy at the end...) SCORE: 67% | 2010-01-11 19:00:00 Author: nightwing Posts: 422 |
REVIEW: Warhammer 40.000 part 2 by The Gentleman A short review for this one, I will explain why in a moment. The level starts you off in a nicely detailed underground area and it is immediately clear that the author evolved for the better in the graphics department. However very near the start you have to get past an enemy who shoots plasma balls so fast, I just couldn't kill him. Simply because I had to leave the paintgun to activate the elevator getting me there! So before that bug is fixed, this review is delayed. The level did show some good promise to start off so I hope the author is willing to have a look at the problem | 2010-01-11 19:04:00 Author: nightwing Posts: 422 |
REVIEW: bank robbery gone haywire - by lozynmymnd / Drakon136 This level was first reviewed by me a long time ago, and since the author requested a re-review after an update, I'm more than willing to oblige. For those of you who didn't read the first review, scroll back some pages for the complete story introduction and level basics. I will use this review to point out the changes the author has made to avoid repetition. The improvements: When I first checked this level out, I noticed the lighting was waaay to dark which caused you to not see the stairs. I'm glad the author fixed this as the setting is much brighter and better this time around! You have to option to take an elevator if you don't want to climb a lot so that's a good improvement as well. My second complaint was that the following scene was too difficult (it involved sackboy to fall down while grabbing on to sponge and jumping into the bank vault). This part was a lot easier this time around as well, so kudos for that. The scenes where you have to jump over the trees to escape the police are much better and less difficult this time around. MISSED CHANCES: The interior of the bank left a bit flat and empty which is ashame. Simply adding a security camera just isn't enough. This could use some more work. After you escape the trees and have to jump on buildings there 's no checkpoint! This means that when you die jumping over the buildings you have to play the whole part from the beginning with the trees all over again. Not very good and this needs to be improved with more checkpoints. So, overall I can say the author listend to my comments and did improve on his prevous work! UPDATED SCORE: 70% | 2010-01-11 19:12:00 Author: nightwing Posts: 422 |
review: Sack the legendary part 3 by Luos_Desruc The next part in the cool adventure series of Sack, the Legendary! This one has a nice story where you have to free bees from an evil race of creatures! Sounds exciting? it is :-) It starts off with our hero in cave, starting up a cool looking generator. The way you have to start this generator is very nice! By pulling three times the starter you activate the mechanism which illuminates the cave and lets you conintue on your journey. A bit further up the road you meet a big fly, who you have helped in a previous chapter. Those of you who didn't play the first chapters, please do. They are all of a good quality! Anyway, this friendly beastie takes you across a chasm from where you have to free the bee's captured in pods by the demonic but not very dangerous creatures. I liked the cutscenes in this level (you can skip the big story one) and especially the small talk between two creature guards in the cave. After a few scenes you have to plunge into the real water (from the water pack) to solve an easy puzzle. Further up ahead water gets a more important role as you have to evade dangerous rotating spikes while trying to get to air bubbles in time. It all works very good and much like the MM story levels from the pirates pack. Only 1 big disadvantage, the big rotating wheels at the end of the water where a bit tricky and I can see a lot of players struggling there. So, how does this level fare comparing to others similar to it? LIKES: + cool generator design + nice character design + implements water in a useful way + loved the cave cutscene DISLIKES: - not enough gameplay variety - last water obstacle a bit tricky This is a level worthy of playing, it does nothing extra ordinary but delivers a good, solid experience! SCORE: 80 % | 2010-01-11 19:13:00 Author: nightwing Posts: 422 |
thanks a lot for the review nightwing! Since I have not started on level 4 (besides drawn/written down idea's, and 5 new creature designs) I will sure to add more gameplay variation! big hug! | 2010-01-12 11:19:00 Author: Luos_83 Posts: 2136 |

LBL:Fairytale - Gingerbread Sack pt 1: Sack in the City" by "Project_MK" Jeeej another fairy tale level It's nice to see a change in scenery from the zillion cave and temple levels out there, so you can understand my happy feeling. Let's take a peek and see if this fairy tale is worthy of it's name or not. I must say this level really does a good job in capturing the whole fairy tale concept, with some great cutscenes near the beginning and halfway through to tell the story. You are a gingerbread sack who's brought to life and although this may seem a bit uninspiring, the way this story is told is really well done. From the opening minutes you get to see the story unfold and it certainly rises expectations for the rest of the level to a great height. After you are brought to life, it's up to you to venture into the world. You start off in the kitchen and have to get outside. There's some running and multiple paths here wich his nice and give you the feeling that you really are a small gingerbread sack in a huge people world. Although I did love the beginning, I found the gameplay to be rather flat. There's not much too it besides some jumping and one nice rocket platform scene in the woods. Thing to pick up after a more slow start though, as you enter a fire ants nest and get to fight some ants. These underground walkways are not highly detailed but I feel the creator did capture the atmosphere well and the ants looked pretty good to me. Once you exit the fire ants nest, you see some more cutscenes and our brave gingerbread heads into a construction yard near the city where he has to overcome some fiery dangers. I did got stuck here, as at one point you pull a lever to start an elevator but nothing really happened as that button dissapeared again. So have to diminish some points for that unfortunately. Let's take a look at the good and the bad of this level, shall we? LIKES: + great introduction / story telling cutscenes that keeps you playing DISLIKES: - a bit flat gameplay and the occasional bug (construction site - elevator didn't work) It really is ashame that the gameplay isn't any better than mediocre, as the story telling execution was flawless and very, very good! Improve on the gameplay aspects, make the environment more detailed and vivid and you can reach 80% mark next time! SCORE: 74% | 2010-01-17 09:27:00 Author: nightwing Posts: 422 |
REVIEW: KING KONG ISLAND OF TERROR. PSN Catseyez The classic tale of King Kong, always a great inspiration point for good levels! I was thinking of making a King Kong level myself back in the early LBP days, but never really got to start working on it because of other interesting ideas. Since the creator is not very experienced I was fearing for the worst because King Kong means a lot of graphical work and character design and that's not an easy task. However, read on to see if the author did manage to pull it off. You start off on a boat from where you need to swim the last part to the Island to save your lady in distress! You evade some dangerous fishes, jump over some lava balls when climbing the mountain road and have to sacrifice some fish to the huge skull. This sums up very shortly the parts I could play so far, as the offering of the fish did nothing to open up a pathway for me :-( I tried to pull 2 goldfishes to that skull and searched everywhere for more fish but I'm afraid there's a bug or something not working here. I do hope the author can fix this as it kept me from playing it till the end. Some things I liked about this level, as the art work was not bad and gameplay wise it was pretty decent as well. It never felt dull or boring and kept a good variety in gameplay throughout the parts I could play. So good job on that :-) Unfortunately, every level from a less experienced creator has some drawbacks. There's always 1 major rule that you HAVE to follow if you want to make a really professional looking level. Stick to 4 different materials max for building your world. It may seem not much, but it's sufficient and gives the level that solid, 1 world look. I noticed the author used some metal gear solid materials as background on the island followed by some polystyrene and metal. That's not a very good combination so I suggest working a bit on that. LIKES: + pretty fun to play + artwork looked decent DISLIKES: - too many different materials used - needs some more bug fixing SCORE: 69% | 2010-01-17 09:28:00 Author: nightwing Posts: 422 |

Hi Thanks for your review - very constructive. Am sorry you couldnt get further than the Skull cos' thats where I hope it all gets a bit more interesting... basically you are supposed to take the blue fish to the left and open up a room where a button is to spawn some goldfish... then take the goldfish and place where the goldfish sticker is near the giant skull... I did update my level over the weekend so will check to see if I "broke" something in the process. I totally agree about limiting materials - a beginners mistake using everything at their disposal - lol. Thanks again and hope you can try it again and actually get to see KING KONG - he is BIG | 2010-01-20 15:45:00 Author: Catseyez Posts: 68 |

Hi Rush_XII I recently finished a level I have been working on, and I spent quite some time on it! I would appreciate it if you could do a review report on the level, and give me a prespective from the outside world (i've been editing it and re-playing it so many times, i lost count) Its my first real level which i put time into, so while it can never acclaim to some of the great community levels out there, its a start. The level is about rumors of the evil jinn Dhaka being summoned to Babasackalon, and you have gone to investigate as a concerned citizen. This level shouldnt take long to finish, and is actually the prelude to the series. *fingers crossed*. disc simply won't load anymore :-( I searched for scratches but did not notice any at first sight, it just crashes or won't load. I think it's because it 's used too much , I have the same problem with fifa 09.
