Game of the Year 18 bonus level prize bubble guide

Archive: 21 posts

Took me a while but this topic was originally a help topic for getting all the prize bubbles in the bonus 18 levels, well it didn't work, but i found them all anyway and i'll do a little guide here

Here are the ones I know of right now (More will soon come)

Steampunk Samarai

When you have the steampunk samarui and activating the shortcut before facing the final boss, go to where the gate opens and head up, its behind a layer. check my video below and look little after 2:07

Until the cows come home

EDIT: I added a video as well as times to when you can find where these prize bubbles are

1: Activate the time trial sticker at the beginning of the level and you'll find this prize bubble at the end of the level, i think you get the sticker for it by beating the level once (0:18 & 6:24)
2: at the top of the windmill (0:40)
3: Inside the barn when you knock the sponge down to get to the mechanical cow, instead of dropping down jump/swing to the left to find an opening, grab the sign there to make the prize bubble drop down (1:23)
4: When you are in the mechanical cow, grab at different spots inside the cow until you hear a different sound (the same sound you hear when you hit a sticker switch), then when you get abducted, the prize bubble will be right in front of the alien(1:50 & 2:36)
5:After going up the elevator in the UFO go left and it'll be in a capsule with a black gear on it. (3:14)
6: where the signs that says "I'm not sure this is where I would spend my spare time but then again, I'm not a cow" there are some capsules to the left stacked on top each other, grab them and the last one will have the prize bubble (4:00)
7: Where the fish in the tank is at, climb up but head left when you reach the top, its in a capsule with a black gear on it. (4:25 & 5:00)

x2 area (2 prizes): When you reach as far to the right as you can when you enter the cave there's an opening to the x2 area on the right, here move a bomb into the small hole to the right (where the cuvered arrow points) then press the right button to make a piece of wood fall. Have one person stand on the wood that fell while the other person presses the left button, this'll detonate the bomb and laucnch the wood and the other player to the prize bubbles. If for some reason you didn't place a bomb when lowering the wood, 1 player presses the middle button to temporaily reraise it so the other player can set the bomb in the hole. Check 1:30 in the video below

Unlike the other levels this one has you grabbing gems that reveal the prizes at the end of the level. I've listed the times on the video for when you can see where its at

Gem Locations

1: This one is in plain sight after continuing after the x2 area, however if you walk toward it the ground below will crumble and you'll miss it, therefore you'll have to jump over the weak ground when you see it. (This part of the level got cut off from the video so you won't be able to see it)
2: When riding the triangle vehicle , you'll see a sponge hanging down, grab onto it and it'll take you to the next gem hanging on a ledge to the right. (3:12)
3:When the triangle vehicle reaches the end of its path. you'll see another hanging sponge, instead of grabbing that head left and you'll go down a narrow path to the next gem. (3:40)
4:When you go up the hanging sponge you'll come across a bridge that crumbles as you run, along the way you'll see the next gem in the air, so grab it before the bridge crumbles completly (3:58)
5:After crossing the crumbling bridge, you'll be pushing a sponge down to make stairs, the gem is in plane sight to the right of this (4:05)
6:When you come to the elevator, don't go in it, go behind it to find the next gem (4:49)
7: After going up the elevator, you'll run into the rabbit again, instead of chasing it to the right, climb up the mountain to find the last gem. (5:05)

As i mentioned previously some of the video got cut out (between 2:04-3:07) but i left annotations

I'm really actually angry about the prize bubble system. I know this is off-topic, but some of the prizes are REALLY UGLY. I gotta say, cat burglar was one of the most descreaseful levels I've ever played, and there are like 3 sponges with tiger face decorations on them that are apparently "cats", and they now sit in my poppit forever and I can't delete them. 2009-09-13 02:41:00

Thank you! I was apprehensive about admitting it but in my opinion some of the community levels, and therefore prizes are pretty weak. One level gives about 5 prizes which are simply wooden circles with a sticker on them... named "some sort of object"!

Though the levels that have the effort put into them are quite good, like RZ's new tank mission and Gevurah's Steampunk Samurai.

Yeah this is something I've complained about in the other GOTY thread. Most of them are rubbish things which we could easily make ourseleves anyway although I wouldn't even want to.

I agree that one of the most annoying things with prizes is when the creator can't even be bothered to name them and all you see is 'some kind of object'. That is extremely lazy.

I was particularly disgusted at the Antonio Ladrillo level also which I think is the one you're talking about croissantbuncake. It's just loads of the same circle with different stickers and no name. We could make those ourselves if we wanted them but even if we did want his we would only need one and could then sticker it ourselves.

They are the most galling prizes I've ever picked up. It's like the creator is taking the P and saying 'here have this crap because I know you can't delete it' and having a laugh at our expense !!

well techincally i kinda of liked those ones, well except for the not naming them. Its a great substititue instead of having to make those color sticker yourselves, great for costume making and saves me from having to temporary have a picture (and since its always there in the parts bag, there is a less chance of a costume using those stickers from getting corrupted).

But I finally found all the prize bubbles in the 18 levels...no thanks to anyone, well execpt my LBP buddy Aaron for figuring out the x2 area of In search, everything else i found on my own, I'll be posting where they all are on the 1st topic over time. Geostaus' When the Cows come Home was the hardest with that missing one i spent hours searching for, you sneaky dog you, i never woulda figured it out without that hint you gave in the comments section , you should've left that hint (or any hint) in the level itself.

I think its pretty clear by the comments above that making these prizes unremovable was a mistake on Mm's part.

So be it, everyone makes mistakes.
These GOTY levels sure seem to rub a lot of people the wrong way!!

on the onewith the stickered circles of wood, i think the best prize to give away would have been the really cool dragon i would have hearted that level straight away simply because of that

I was not aware that you would not have the choice of deleting prizes and I doubt the other creators knew. If I had known I would have probably left out the other tank and just had the one in the level as a prize, if at all.2009-09-15 18:56:00

Do you think it will be possible to play these levels some day in the regular LBP? I am hoping so. I really wanted to play Jump_Button's level.2009-09-15 19:11:00

no however when you do find someone who hearted it, you can heart it yourself and just play them from your hearted list.

I have them all hearted as well as Nuclearfish (aka the guy who did Spirlaizer in the news section on InfoMoon)

I wasn't including you in the list of bad prizes Kratos. Your tank always has been and still is awesome. That's the best prize out there.

Incidentally I don't know if you're aware but the other tank said it could only be used if you had the MGS and GOW packs. However it still let me select it even though I don't have the GOW pack. I'm not complaining, that's great by me but I just wondered if you knew?

LOL, you're kidding right Morgana ?

If you just want colours then wouldn't it have been more useful to just give colour stickers ? Either way there are plenty of community levels already out there that give away practically every colour imaginable ( Nemesisninja's level for one has hundreds of them )

Only partially kidding. I do like those but yea, I would have preferred them as round stickers. Since we can't make decent round stickers without using the eye toy frame which has that silly pulled over part on it.2009-09-15 20:31:00

Yes I will never for the life of me understand why they put that bent over circle in and didn't put a normal circle. Whoever decided to do that has some serious issues and a problem with knowing what the end user actually wants.2009-09-15 20:36:00

The 'God of War' pack with stickers mainly I think. I never had it at the time because I never got into the 'God of War' game.2009-09-16 12:45:00
