Congratulation, but this is no achievement unless you manage to play Counterstrike with your friends without your teacher noticing it.

Reminds me of when we used to play Unreal at school...

Don't ask.

I swear you are like the carbon copy of me! Unreal was all we could sneak onto the school system, nothing quite beats 30 kids in an IT class all playing the same game

Oh, the school put Unreal on there in the first place.
But we were only supposed to be able to get on it in certain classrooms at lunch.

Heh...

But I found out today that I'm still being monitored for something that happened a couple of years ago...

My school has ridiculous rules. A single internet game site, that's a paddlin'. Not doing work? That's a paddlin'. Trying to view youtube outside lessons to listen to music? That's a paddlin'. Playing any game? Paddlin'. Paddlin' a boat? That's a paddlin'.

They use a filter that blocks 90% of sites you want to visit, even if it's relevant to work. It also blocks 99.9% of game sites. Blech.

Man the school filters were off for a second and we went on Youtube and crap for the whole lesson! Sorry, no paaawn... Even so, it was fun. Now I've just gotta finish my Business and my now late German coursework 2009-09-09 19:11:00

Trying to view youtube

Youtube at school...we used to be able to.
Then something happened and now we can't.

Thing is, these filters are painfully easy to get past the way my school does things.

^^^
This
Googlevideos for some reason isn't blocked by the school......whereas youtube is
Weird, but if I get to watch videos then I'm fine.

My school makes it painfully easy to hack the system.
Quite a few of us got into a lot of trouble for that.

And @Coxy, Google Vids work at my school too.

Google vids don't work. And 99% of proxy sites are blocked, using the IE proxy is blocked, and if you find a working proxy site, it only works for downloads.2009-09-09 19:29:00

Wow... I posted this thread a few hours ago today, and it's already this popular >_>

And my teacher is awesome, we're allowed to do ANYTHING we want in that class, as long as nobody else has a problem with it ^.^

We can't download anything though :S

On the other hand, every single website is unblocked except for pornographic ones and websites that have anything to do with anything illegal (pirated junk websites, mainly)

I can even text xD

I go to the library during home room somtimes and play flash games on the computers.
Everything is blocked pretty much but the schools passcode to unblock things is so easy.

My schools abbreviation

And i get the computer that is facing away from the librarian so i cant get caught!

lOl sounds like everyone's really cool on here! Our 6th form set up Tribal Wars and a Tribe known as the GSA, it took off pretty quick with about 50 people in the college participating (bare in mind there are only 120 in the college) and spent pretty much all our frees trying to become the best tribe...

oh the days of college

Our IT bloke (the sugarpuff monster) has updated the system so I have no games on most pc's

To be honest I don't really have time to play games but forums are good to chat on between revision posters

Oh the events of today so far; it's only 10:30 and it's ben a strange ol day.

Basically, come out of maths class to find a women on our parade square screaming at the top of her lungs 'Where is my son!?!?!' ' This is real, this is not a movie you must find my son'.

The son it turns out was in the med centre, he had run away after having an argument with a teacher about not having his shirt tucked in ( :?).

The mum wanted to see the son but the son had said she was an alchoholic so he didn't want to see her.

Eventually police came in, wrestle her to the ground and put her in the van.

More news as it develops

I usually get MAME running in my IT class and play Metal Slug for some LBP ideas.

The IT teacher doesn't mind, since she doesn't understand the difference between a Windows and Mac.....

I just need to find out a way to bypass the barracuda filter so i can look at these forums in school

Well no more news on the crazy incident today; hopefully the head will make a statement

Was so funny, she was ranting and teachers made a wall to stop students getting near; the head master and deputy were just standing behind her arms crossed with rolleyes expressions xD

I'm doing HTML web design later on this year in ICT...

My school has a blocker for websites, but me and my friend are installing a script onto our website that lets you go on anything you want.

Our school's block system works terribly.

Of every site in the world, only about 6 are unblocked. They don't help.

I once got an F on a project because the site I was suppoused to go to was blocked.

Our school's sucks as well.. It blocks sites that shouldn't be and blocks Google for some reason occasionally, and that F is pretty harsh, did you say to your teacher?

Are proxies blocked too? Remember there are always ways to bypass ANYTHING in technology.

Try using proxies, different web browsers run from your USB, using a virtual PC to run stuff, pinging a website IP and connecting directly.... there are alot of ways to do it. I recently found a way to enable flash player so I can watch youtube at school (Honestly it's stupid, I need youtube for my theater arts project and the school blocks it.....)

I know there are ways to bypass them, but I'm mainly saying blockers rarely ever work, I meand it blocks Google lol. And yeah that is pretty **** stupid.

i remember my schools security slowly grew more and more inpenetrable because of me and my friends trying to hack it all the time.

Pretty soon all proxies were blocked, all shortcuts and right click menus were restricted, usb drives and cd's didn't work, any unauthorised exe files didn't work and i'm pretty sure they scanned our documents regulary to find things like CS that had been installed.

I think i managed to install Postal once as well

Haha I have thousands of game ROMs hiding away in our Year 12 study room computers

Me and a few friends are planning on overloading the servers and crashing it completely before the end of school

I would advise against this. Especially since you've mentioned it here. Doing so could result in criminal punishment, and there's no worse way to ruin your life than by making an ill-advised mistake just as you are about to enter the "real world." Take a step back and look at the bigger picture:

These people who work at your school have a livelihood to uphold. They don't show up to teach and run the school for the hell of it - they are making a living, and in most cases, are there for your benefit. It's not fair to them if you do something silly to make their lives a living hell. They are real people after all. It goes beyond just being disrespectful to the teachers and administrators... there are all sorts of important records and documents stored on the servers that are important for the future of fellow students (including yourself).

As a future teacher, these kind of pranks may seem funny on the surface, but in reality they are not funny at all. If anything, it's blatant disregard for others, and is downright selfish. You probably don't foresee the the repercussions of your actions, and I reiterate that you should probably not follow through with your plan.

How would you like it if someone hacked into your computer (and/or) ps3 and deleted everything from it? To them it would be funny, but it wouldn't be so funny to you... Now, take that and multiply it by the number of people who depend on your school's servers functioning properly.

---------

I admit that I realize two things which sort of debunk the above, but it doesn't take away from the overall message.

1. You are probably kidding and will not follow through with said plan.

2. Most schools will employ an application called "DeepFreeze." Essentially, this programs restores all vital information to a safe state every night. I'm not sure of the logistics of it all, but it resets the system every night, so as to offset any damage done during that day.

[/Over-analysis]

Going to a private school and paying thousands of dollars and getting under qualified teachers are not my idea of an education.
Trying to merge 2 completely different education systems (from 2 completely different countries!) and telling us how it's compulsory to do both is also not my idea of a proper education.

But what can I say... I'm just a student, the students are always wrong and the teachers are always right... (according to my principle).

But yes comphermc, i was joking. No matter how much I hate my school I won't erase the school's data. Not for the school or the teachers, but for the students that are still going to the school. But if I was to crash the school servers, i wouldn't consider it a prank, I would consider it along the lines of revenge against the school.

I'm sorry but comphermc, but I haven't had a good school life, and when ever I think of school = jail.

Oh and I narrowly escaped a detention because I was plugging in the monitor cable which had fallen out and the teacher thought I was hacking the computer xD
