A tough choice?
Archive: 7 posts
Alright guys, let me get straight to the point: Basically, I have this old laptop I've been using for a while. It's quite slow, and I don't bother turning it on much, as I usually use my mom's computer. Anyways, my sister was wondering if she could buy it, so we set a price of $300. Of course, she doesn't have the money yet, so it gives me time to think. With the $300, I'm looking at two options. 1) I could raise $100 more and get a nice new desktop, which I'm looking forward to. And 2) Spend $250 immediately, getting an HD PVR to record games in HD. Some pro's and con's about each: (+ and -) New Computer +Give's more computer power +Can run many new programs and games +Will run much faster -I will need to raise more money -I have to wait a while to get the PVR The HD PVR +Can record videos, machinima, level reviews, etc. +I'm in Sackinima (LBP Machinima group), so recording could come in handy +It would be really fun to record my other games too +I would have a bit of money left over from the $300 -I would wait a long time before a new computer -The PVR's software would need a good computer, which I'm not sure mine can handle it. So I ask you, LBPC, to help me make a choice. Me and two friends already flipped some coins, and it was said I would get the PVR. I just want to know what you all think. ![]() And I'm not sure if this is in the right place, so mods, feel free to move it, lock it, or whatever you do with these kinds of threads. ![]() Thanks! | 2009-09-09 03:11:00 Author: goldenclaw13 ![]() Posts: 224 |
I would go with the computer. Paying so much just to record in HD wont seem worth it ![]() | 2009-09-09 03:17:00 Author: Incinerator22 ![]() Posts: 3251 |
Go with a computer with HD recording capabilities. | 2009-09-09 03:37:00 Author: rz22g ![]() Posts: 340 |
I agree, go with the computer. As nice as an HD recorder might be, I think you'll quickly get tired of using it often, and it probably won't value nearly as well as the computer. | 2009-09-09 04:03:00 Author: hilightnotes ![]() Posts: 1230 |
i also agree D: they recorder can only do so much... well >_> it can only really record things... but the computer can do a lot more. i think the computer will keep you way more entertained, and in the long run, it will have been the better buy. | 2009-09-09 04:32:00 Author: gofurr360z ![]() Posts: 886 |
I love my recorder it's like my child I never had D: Lol, but $250 for the recorder?!? I got mine for just over 100. So, you could just get the recorder, do chores and save up, then get the desktop $200 later. (If you find an HD PVR for $100) | 2009-09-09 05:56:00 Author: Kog ![]() Posts: 2358 |
Cog, could you suggest me a good quality recorder? I actually thought that the one I saw was overpriced, but I wasn't sure... Thanks for the opinions guys. It's really given me some more thought about this. I'm not sure yet though, and I know how Cog loves his recording ![]() | 2009-09-09 06:06:00 Author: goldenclaw13 ![]() Posts: 224 |
