New Waterworld level broken

Archive: 11 posts

I just finished my level which I've been working on this week. I was going to put a few more parts in because the thermo was 2 bars from full but I suddenly started getting the overheating message. I took a few things out and tried to put something smaller in but got it again so I decided I'd have to leave it as is and publish.

I published it locked and went to play it to take a few photos to put in a thread for the level but part way through I realised the wobble bolts on a fairy's wings weren't moving. I went back to the level on my moon to check and sure enough they've stopped working.

I tried to replace it with the original one in my goodies bag but that won't work either. I went to a blank level and placed it and it worked just fine but it simply will not work in the actual level. I tried moving the level to another moon but it still didn't work.

I've read the links about the 160 hour bug but I haven't even worked on it that long. Also I wouldn't have a clue how to do what it suggests which is to copy the entire level to another moon.

How on earth can you draw a box big enough to cover the entire level and be able to see where it is to make sure everything is captured ? Even if I could do that how would I then be able to place it in another level without embedding it into the walls or floor because it's impossible to see across the level from end to end.

My level stretches across the entire length and then goes up some too.

I'm at a loss what to do. Please can anyone help with an easy solution. If not I fear my new level is doomed.

Thanks in advance.

I don't know of a way to guarantee you select everything but what I've been doing is start somewhere close to the middle and I start moving the cursor and wait about 30 seconds. I figure it has it after about that long. Granted I haven't gone edge to edge with the selection but Ive grabbed some pretty big chunks that way.

Good Luck!

Cut it into pieces and then put it back together in a new level. That's what I've heard of others [like Phife] having to do.2009-09-08 22:44:00

MrV - I'm not sure if I had the exact same problem, but I think I had something similar happen on a set of dragon's wings. The wobble bolts stopped working, and I tried to re-insert a complete dragon from my goody bag. These bolts didn't work either.

I ended up simply removing the bolts, and adding new ones. I had to adjust them to the settings the old ones had, but they worked okay.

Like I say, I don't know if this helps, but it may be worth a try before you attempt to copy and paste the whole thing.

Thanks guys.

I'll try that first MrsSB as that would be wonderful if it was that easy.

The hardest part now is getting mrsvista off the PS3 so I can try. She's strutting her stuff with Icey down at the 'Disco'.

I'll let you know how I get on.

I had the 160 bug, and had to copy my level over in 6 or 7 sections. I was very apprehensive about doing it, expecting it to be a complete hassle to get it all back up and running but it actually wasn't that bad. You'll have to slightly redesign the the level to get the sections fitting back together nicely but its definitely do-able. good luck with it, whatever solution you find!2009-09-08 23:19:00

Oh yes, in a big way comphermc. If I'm not on LBP then I'm here on LBPC. No time to work, eat, sleep or any real life stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good luck with your wobble bolts mrv, hope you get it sorted without too much hassle, swearing, throwing of controllers etc!!!

LOL!

Just to let you know it's fixed now and the level is published for play.

I tried replacing the wobble bolts but they still wouldn't work so I then tried altering the speed of the original ones and managed to get them working at 0.2. Doesn't look quite as good but at least they're working.

I'm about to make a thread for the level so I'll delete this thread sometime tomorrow ( make that later today as it's now 1:50am lol )

Thanks everyone for your help and advice.

I've said this many times... my wings on some bees originally were powered by .2 speed motor bolts, after resting in my pop-it for over two months the failed. When finally used I had to settle for .3, by the time I actually published they were at .4 and looked horrible... also dont try to flip a built object that's been stored in pop-it... instant destruction (fall apart)2009-09-09 03:30:00
