Just called Gamestop and they won't have it until tomorrow. | 2009-09-08 18:28:00 Author: zekeike Posts: 71 |
Yeah, it's being shipped today but most stores won't have it stocked today. I'm picking up a copy as soon as its in the store. I told Risen I wanted to play his next level... and if I have to spend $60.00 to play it, so be it! | 2009-09-08 18:32:00 Author: CCubbage Posts: 4430 |
I'll call Best Buy here in town If they have it I'll get it tonight. | 2009-09-08 18:38:00 Author: Morgana25 Posts: 5983 |
IMO it's a bit pointless really. Wow...18 new levels. We already have over a million. Wow...a few DLC packs...we're about to get PSN cards anyway. I can see this only as a collector's item. I'll stick to my fancy pants post-recall 2008 version, than you very much. | 2009-09-08 18:46:00 Author: ARD Posts: 4291 |

Truth is, I think the player's additional hard work combined with MM overseeing it will make it worth it. | 2009-09-08 18:58:00 Author: CCubbage Posts: 4430 |
I don't think he was referring to the 18 levels being "awful" I think he meant out of the 1,000,000 levels, 9/10 are awful, right? I don't know if I agree with that. I tend to even like the "awful" levels. These creators got to do something very special for sony, and I'm sure their levels are wonderful! Kudos to you guys who got picked for GOTY. You should be proud! If I didn't have two copies, I'd buy a copy in a second. I really want to see what you've come up with! | 2009-09-08 18:59:00 Author: xkappax Posts: 2569 |

If Media Molecule is a British based company, why is this coming out first in America?? and by what the post suggests, why do us brits have to wait so long? | 2009-09-08 19:01:00 Author: Hallm3 Posts: 252 |
I wasn't refering to the 18 levels, I'm sure they'll beat the MM levels in terms of quality, I'm talking about the normal LBP levels, the 1 million... | 2009-09-08 19:03:00 Author: oldage Posts: 2824 |
Fact: 9/10 of those are awful levels. That makes 100,000 good levels. Enough to be getting on with for now, I'd say. | 2009-09-08 19:05:00 Author: ARD Posts: 4291 |
If Media Molecule is a British based company, why is this coming out first in America?? and by what the post suggests, why do us brits have to wait so long? That's how it always is for videogames. Europe gets games after they have been released in the US and Japan. I think it's even worse for Australia. | 2009-09-08 19:07:00 Author: keell Posts: 69 |
That makes 100,000 good levels. Enough to be getting on with for now, I'd say. But of those 100,000 only 10% are awesome. That leaves around 1000 truly mind-bending experiences. Do the other 18 fall into this category? I'll let you know as soon as I play them. | 2009-09-08 19:09:00 Author: CCubbage Posts: 4430 |

I have to say I still dont know why they picked me back then only level i had up was my sackboy in sky town, robot town and my old zelda level :/ my level base on water so i thgink it going to look a bit out date now ^^; | 2009-09-08 19:47:00 Author: jump_button Posts: 1014 |
In regards to people batting around various numbers - a few of which I'm sure just came right off the top of people's heads - I'd like to point out that the vast majority of literature and film is also, arguably, garbage. There's still plenty of good material out there as well, and that isn't really diminished by the fact that there's even more drivel - you just have to know how to sort through it. So yes, there's still alot of very good material that's already available to us as far as the game is concerned. That being said, not knowing all of the creators involved in the project, the few I do know are excellent at what they do, and I would imagine have put forth some very polished work in this. If you're simply being entirely fiscally rational, no, purchasing this soley for the levels is probably not a "good deal". However, if you are in a financial situation where you would not mind or even notice the small amount this game costs, I feel confident that the levels inside would provide some quality entertainment - and I for one would not mind MM viewing this franchise as as large of a success as is reasonable. As far as metaphor goes, yes, Fine Dining is overpriced. Ridiculously so compared to the perfectly good alternatives, if you've ever spent more than $500 on a meal and seen what pricing they really get away with. It remains Fine Dining though. Many of us knowingly engage in being "ripped-off" on occasion, simply because the market sets a price for something that people are willing to pay and we have enough fondness for the good or service in question to pay it anyways. ... At least, I'm assuming I'm not the only one who eats movie popcorn. | 2009-09-08 19:48:00 Author: Jagrevi Posts: 1154 |

Unfortunately my local store won't have it until tomorrow... As far as how many of the million levels are good? It doesn't matter to me... what matters more is if I can actually manage to find them. I'm jealous of all of you... I only get 17 great new levels! Heh. I can't wait to see them, though. | 2009-09-08 20:50:00 Author: Risen Posts: 251 |

Ah....so what you're saying is that "you" get to make a level for the GOTY edition, but you're jealous of "us" because we get to play "your" level for $3.33. Ya, Possibly. But i'm not wasteing some money for a game i already own. Yep, it would be cheaper to buy the DLC that you would want than trade the game in (for a very low price usually) and get 18 levels that you can play already with GOTY edition owners. EDIT: BTW, anyone who gets GOTY can't get any of the glitches that were available before it came out with older versions. | 2009-09-08 21:31:00 Author: S-A-S--G-U-N-R Posts: 1606 |
Actually I would be more interested in the interviews that in the current levels. I find that's a good idea that really put the game in a friendly family dimension, sice I guess all the people have been kind (didn't met top creators that are not humble and down to Earth). It's very different than an FPS or beat-em-up addicted. | 2009-09-08 21:36:00 Author: OmegaSlayer Posts: 5112 |
I'm probably gonna trade in my lbp for this (along with other PS3 games I don't play). GOTY always seems to be better from what I've seen | 2009-09-08 21:43:00 Author: iGotFancyPants Posts: 1355 |
The only DLC I've purchased for LittleBigPlanet is the MGS Pack and a costume or two, so I might trade in mine to pick this up. I'm looking forward to the 18 levels and the interviews. | 2009-09-08 22:28:00 Author: BSprague Posts: 2325 |
Pointless for you maybe, but it's not aimed at you. The GOTY eiditon is for people who don't already have the game. Correction. It is also for LBP fans. There is a difference between someone that likes LBP, and someone that's a fan of LBP. Fans like what they're a fan of to the point of collecting anything that comes out that's LBP. There are lots of people out there that call themselves fans, but indeed are not. Those who don't want to get it (not to be confused with can't afford it) are not LBP fans. They just like LBP. So GOTY edition is for people who don't own it, and fans that do. I'll be getting the Game of The Year Edition simply because I am a LBP (despite the irritating problems and bugginess) fan. So it's automatically a must-buy for me. GOTY is good for . . . -MNR beta access -18 new levels -creator interviews (some find this boring, but most of us would find it really interesting seeing inside creators' minds and knowing their thoughts and so on) -and the DLC that some don't have already (which I happen to have them all already) So yeah, good stuff. I'll have to order mine from Amazon.com, which I would of done a week or two ago, but couldn't afford it at the time. | 2009-09-08 23:02:00 Author: Unknown User |
I'd agree with S'n'S. I LIKE giving Media Molecule money. Someone has to not be Electronic Arts, and so far that's mostly Mm and Atlus. Does anyone know if a GOTY level DLC pack is on the horizon? I'd throw down cash for the levels in a heartbeat, but I have every DLC but Street Fighter and Animal costumes, already. | 2009-09-08 23:04:00 Author: coyote_blue Posts: 422 |
I agree with what 's3xNstilettos said. Completely right! Anyways I'll be getting this when I get the money for it... around $60, right? | 2009-09-08 23:07:00 Author: iGotFancyPants Posts: 1355 |
I don't have anything against the GOTY edition, but I certainly won't be buying it. I have the DLC that I want and I'm not keen on the idea of Mm or SONY charging to play levels made by the community. I will however happily jump on to play with any of the mugs that buy it for a second time to see what the 18 creators came up with! What I am looking forward to the most though is the influx of new creators. Of course the majority will be much like the majority we already have, but there will hopefully be some diamonds in the rough. | 2009-09-08 23:24:00 Author: Matt 82 Posts: 1096 |
Looks like this would be a great thing to trade in LBP for. Looked around but couldn't find the answer even though it's obvious, I want to check. The GOTY can read the LBP data can't it? Costumes, levels finished etc. And the MNR isn't a preorder bonus? I hate it when I don't get preorder codes. | 2009-09-09 00:11:00 Author: Snappyguy Posts: 710 |
All I really want to see is the new level that the original Distress In Ocean creator made. Wonder if his(her?) skills have improved? | 2009-09-09 00:26:00 Author: SLS10 Posts: 1129 |
Another thing to realize is that 18 new levels is almost the size of LBP's story mode in the amount of levels, like 6 levels short. So it can be thought of like an expansion pack. If it had a few more levels than 18, it could be thought of as LBP 2 (or 1.5), except made by the community, lol. | 2009-09-09 00:30:00 Author: Unknown User |
I just wanted to pop in to say congratulations to all 18 creators who got this very special chance. You all deserve the honours and should be proud of yourselves! It's a pretty neat thing if you think about it, that 18 people from the LBP world were chosen to be create official levels. | 2009-09-09 00:38:00 Author: hilightnotes Posts: 1230 |
Hope it's in the mail by the time I get home today from work. Don't fail me SCEA! xD But, um thanks guys! If you guys get a chance to play my stage, here's to hoping you'll enjoy it, to include all the other authors' levels as well. But from personal experience, jump_button's level is pretty clever and has the usual unique flair his levels tend to carry. God forbid how the interviews are gonna turn out. I'm pretty interested in seeing everyone's faces. =) | 2009-09-09 01:39:00 Author: gevurah22 Posts: 1476 |
I had the pleasure of playing a few of the levels and they're top notch. Really great stuff. I played the levels made by jump_button, geostautus, Nuclearfish and X-NOBODY-X. Definitely worthy of their places in the GOTY edition. | 2009-09-09 02:02:00 Author: Killian Posts: 2575 |

Definitely worthy of their places in the GOTY edition. Good to know. If anything was to be the deciding factor in my decision to purchase this, it would be the overall quality of the levels. I can assume that they are great, because great creators generally create great levels, but it's good to actually get word of it. | 2009-09-09 02:05:00 Author: BSprague Posts: 2325 |

I cleaned all me credit cards tonight and I think I will reward myself with the GOTY edition. I didn't plan to buy it at first but as a gift to myself it's ok. Seriously, it's because I also want the 18 levels and the Modnation Racers beta... . | 2009-09-09 02:28:00 Author: RangerZero Posts: 3901 |

I think I went overly simple on my level. I did this mainly because I get alot of players that cannot complete my current tank level. I hope the newcomers enjoy it and can make it through. Doing the level also forced me to make it so you could get a new tank at checkpoints. I also had to make it so players could not get up in between the wheels. I plan on getting at least two copies. One will replace my current and one to replace Samanthas current. I will probably get a couple more to give to friends. One friend lives in the sticks, already has LBP, but cannot get broadband so he has no way to get DLC or updates. | 2009-09-09 02:44:00 Author: rz22g Posts: 340 |

Whatever makes it easier for the player to jump in, the better. Also, I hope you aren't planning on "buying" two copies. If you haven't already, give Mark Valledor a ring. We're all supposed to get a freebie, to say the least. If you don't have his info, I'll be happy to hook you up. Is this thrity-something dollars worth of major DLC on the GOTY edition disc, come in a separate disc packaged with the GOTY edition, or will I need to download the content from LittleBigStore/PSN if I buy it? I had assumed that I would have to download it, just like regular DLC you buy from the store, or it was on the GOTY disc, because then people couldn't get the DLC from someone with GOTY. | 2009-09-09 22:28:00 Author: michaelplacke Posts: 39 |
Did any of you other creators create a custom level icon that didn't get used? I spent a considerable amount of time getting mine just right and I'm somewhat disappointed that they just used the cow head sticker instead. edit: for anyone who is wondering, it should have looked like this: http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=200&pictureid=6564 | 2009-09-10 01:35:00 Author: Risen Posts: 251 |

The ticket for the Modnation Racer beta says it will be redeemable and downloadable starting September 9. Here it's september 10 already (Canada Eastern Times). When I go into the redeeming code thing in the account management, it says either I entered the code incorrectly or its invalid. The hell? Am I not supposed to be able to download the beta tonight? Is it maybe not working in Canada yet we receive a freaking voucher inside the box? Seriously, even the modnation website doesn't give a lick of info. Help? . | 2009-09-10 05:53:00 Author: RangerZero Posts: 3901 |
Calm down. Like most things downloadable on PSN, you usually have to wait until Thursday when it "comes up" on the PSN store. Definitely mislabeling on their part, but what can you do? Also, loved both of your levels! Thank ya much, man! =) | 2009-09-10 06:02:00 Author: gevurah22 Posts: 1476 |
Yes... I know exactly what you mean. Mine was supposed to have the Samurai I created as the icon, but now it's just the normal heavenly gates sticker from the Rag Doll Kung Fu pack... wth? Well, I'm glad it's not just me. I probably put two hours into my icon alone. It was a lot of work getting the silhouette stretched out to 16:9 so that it would scale properly after I took the photo and placed it on the icon. The background is a sticker I got by placing a music object and then using the cursor to move the sticker on it to a background (I bet not everyone knows you can do that!) but I also applied gradient stickers overtop of it to create more depth. It was also too complicated to have all three beavercows on one piece of background material, so I had to split it into two pieces and line everything up perfectly. What a process! I would never have done all that work if I knew it wouldn't have been used. | 2009-09-10 13:46:00 Author: Risen Posts: 251 |
Help? . Yeah, we probably have to wait until the store updates before the code will be valid. It's also completely possible that the beta won't be coming out today and the card is incorrect, so don't get too excited just yet. | 2009-09-10 14:28:00 Author: ConfusedCartman Posts: 3729 |

REplacing the icons? Noooo... I love my space bunnies icon! According to what I saw in PAX it should be correct... | 2009-09-10 18:04:00 Author: Foofles Posts: 2278 |
My icon wasn't replaced, so that's all good. Not sure why they would change some though. And I wonder why Stone has no icon? | 2009-09-10 18:07:00 Author: Nuclearfish Posts: 927 |

Im trying to get around to playing some of the levels today. The first I played was foofles and its tons of fun. I cant wait for my daughter to wake up and try it. She is going to love it. I just played that Cat Burglar level and it was a simple fun level with a good story. The layout of the town and house, crossing the streets, etc. I can see younger players really appreciating this. Samantha really liked it. | 2009-09-11 17:30:00 Author: rz22g Posts: 340 |
