The PS3 has outsold the Xbox 360 and the Nintendo Wii by a ratio of three to one in the latest ChartTrack sales figures. The 999 percent sales increase follows the launch of the new slimmer PS3 SKU in the UK last tuesday. While ChartTrack wasn't able to release the actual sales figures, it has confirmed that the console has outsold the Xbox 360, the Nintendo Wii and the DS Lite by three units to one: The sales increase is very impressive, making the PS3 the top selling hardware in Week 36. The Xbox 360, Wii and DS Lite all sold around the same amount last week ? PS3 Slim outsold each of them by a ratio of three-to-one The longevity of this uplift very much depends on the time of year. The PS2 Slim was released in November, much closer to Christmas. We?ll have to wait and see how things work out for Sony this time. Seems like a pretty good week for Sony. Up 999% on what? Same time last year? Last week? 999% means nothing if you don't know what it relates to. I did hear that they sold 150,000 units in Japan since the relaunch which is a pretty high number.

Says so in the linked article, means nothing much because I probably only sold 100 units last week, because everyone with half a brain knew it was coming and thus didn't buy one. Sales weren't glorious in the past few month easier, so unless they can keep the momentum these sales mean nothing at all in the grand scheme of things. Good for the marketing guys and fanboys though.

A rather pointless news article in my opinion as it was pretty expected with a console relaunch and redesign.

There's a gap of 8 millions between PS3 and 360. The 999% increase is silly because the news says that 999% it's the max increase the system can register, so it's actually more than 1000%. The pieces sold are more than 500k, so the gap with the 360 is shortened by a good 5% in a week.

YES! PS3! WOOT! I always knew that Sony would slowly but surely pull ahead in the long run, with good moves like LBP, Metal Gear Solid 4, price cut, etc, plus the fact that both new Final Fantasy XIII games will be on PS3, while 360 will only get one of them. This is just the beginning. PS3 has improved a lot, including the fact that the PSN has surpassed XBox Live in quality. But that's old news. Awhile back, the red ring of death really didn't help Microsoft either, and still doesn't in situations, which is why I never bought a 360 because of faulty hardware, plus a horrible controller. I consider it the worst system ever, despite it's excellent gaming library. That is just my personal opinion. I'm not a fan girl when it comes to console wars. That opinion is based on the pros and cons of each system.

Not that I want to start any fanboy war, but neither the Wii nor 360 has sold 250 miliion units. Well it was simply an expression that they have greatly outsold the PS3, not to be taken literally. And as i stated, I am no fanboy so no fanboy war will start here with me.

the PSN has surpassed XBox Live in quality. WTH? lol when'd that happen? I have an xbox, and trust me xbox live is a lot better than PSN. Only thing PSN beats xbox live at is price, cause PSN is free.

If the 360 didn't sell at all last week. All this doesn't matter to anyone of us of course. With 360 selling 0 it would be 6,25% With 100000 360s worldwide and only 500000 PS3 (latest data say at least 550000) is 5%. (And the 360 sells 200000 in US, its greates market in a month, so my math is pretty accurate)

Well, I'm glad that PS3 sales are up so much. It seems like a lot of times people don't talk about PS3 that much because it's been overshadowed by the 360 and Wii in terms of sales and whatnot. I really think that if they want to continue selling units like that, they need some more exclusives, or multiplat games with a clear advantage on PS3 over 360, like Arkham Asylum had. Maybe I'm getting off-topic here, and if so I'm sorry. I am really glad that the PS3 sales were so high, though.

The 999% doesn't really mean anything, the previous week they probably only sold a few because of the new ps3 being announced, and then there was a massive burst as people brought the new one Outselling the other consoles 3 to 1 is quite impressive though! I can tell ps3 is definatly becoming more popular because earlier this year noone i knew had a ps3 but now almost every one of my friends has one

PS3 had a really high expectation. The release was really badly managed both hardware and software wise. Media talked very bad about PS3 and devs weren't able to use it. But it's a great machine. 360 has its good games and an overhyped social network (imho it's XBL is too much invasive), but it's not a good machine.

I agree that the 999% sales increase is at least slightly impressive, but I don't think this massive sales increase will last long at all. Maybe a coulple more weeks at the very max.

PS3 slim outsold xbox/wii in the first week. Whoop-di-doo. It;s a new launch (albeit of the same thing) Of course it will sell more - if MS release a new xbox slim then it would easily do the same as the PS3 has done - in its first week . Then it would be back to normal again.

Xbox Live is quite overhyped I have it now, and it really isn't that different SURE, it's much more social, but it never really affects gameplay. Party System, Netflix, and cross-chat are all the only things I frequently use... Anyway, yes, PS3 sales look awesome.
