The Platinum virus has infected 4 more great games!
Archive: 23 posts
Sony truely are evil, making the popular games look terrible with the platinum tag to make the less popular games sell more! Now Motorstorm, Killzone, Resistance and MetalGearSolid have fallen victim to this tactic! http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2009/09/07/playstation-3-platinum-range-expands/ I think we should open a petition to stop this before it spreads even further | 2009-09-07 18:58:00 Author: Dexiro Posts: 2100 |
Wah, stop the yellow flu. | 2009-09-07 19:40:00 Author: Syroc Posts: 3193 |
And GTA4 is coming, but I'm really happy to have been a first day buyer for all those 4 games. MGS4 is awesome, I really hope they will introduce trophies. | 2009-09-07 20:18:00 Author: OmegaSlayer Posts: 5112 |
Personally I only buy the games in their original packaging. I really dislike the Platinum packaging. | 2009-09-07 23:57:00 Author: Arikardo Posts: 158 |

Good god!! That's what they're shovelling onto shelves as best-sellers in Europe?? That's... Oh God, that is awful. I mean, I'm not saying that the greatest hits over here are better-looking than their original counterparts, but at least they stayed away from making it look like they slathered lemon tart filling all over the game packages. Over here it's the same as the original packaging, but the plastic case is red instead of clear, similar to how blu ray movies' are blue. The ONLY other difference is the tiniest of little tiny strips along the top, in the same color red, with "Greatest Hits" written across. http://imgur.com/IMSA5.jpg | 2009-09-08 22:58:00 Author: Teebonesy Posts: 1937 |
Killzone 2, already? Is LittleBigPlanet Platinum yet? It's twice as old, and it should have the sales numbers to back it up. | 2009-09-09 01:04:00 Author: BSprague Posts: 2325 |
wow. just wow. no offense to the people in europe, but i agree with Teebonesy. that yellow packaging completely ruins the game. it makes it look like crap! i personally prefer the clear original packaging, but if i had to choose between your yellow, and our red, id choose the red any day. | 2009-09-09 05:01:00 Author: gofurr360z Posts: 886 |

I think the red cases look nice, i don't see why they can't have the same packaging over here. They must think Europeans like their games to look cheap and low quality :/ | 2009-09-09 08:27:00 Author: Dexiro Posts: 2100 |
so thats how they keep games selling? sad sad people :O | 2009-09-09 12:36:00 Author: hking0036 Posts: 28 |
Argh! That yellow band is horrible! It completely ruins box art. | 2009-09-09 12:42:00 Author: Leather-Monkey Posts: 2266 |
Personally,(now this is just me.) if it means less money, or more software for my money, It could come in a manilla envelope with the game title scribbled on with magic marker for all I care. It's not the box I'll be looking at when I get it home. | 2009-09-09 13:00:00 Author: swanbrown Posts: 898 |
Yellow? Surely that's associated with danger and therefore not buying the game | 2009-09-09 18:55:00 Author: Shermzor Posts: 1330 |
Why did they ever have to go yellow anyway? The PS1, PS2 and PSP Platinum games were all...platinum-coloured. | 2009-09-09 19:00:00 Author: ARD Posts: 4291 |
Sorry, but, am I the only one who doesn't give a **** about whether or not it ruins the box art? I generally care about the actual game and how much I've gotta pay for it, nothing else | 2009-09-09 19:06:00 Author: KoRnDawwg Posts: 1424 |
I'd rather not have a big yellow and grey eyesore on my shelf though | 2009-09-09 21:14:00 Author: Dexiro Posts: 2100 |
I think I Just got it. The Difference is: When you have to pay out-of-pocket for your games, the packaging doesn't mean much. When you don't pay, but are given a limit by the person who pays, I guess you would feel a little trapped into a slot, and Just have to accept what ever changes sony decides to throw at the discount market. So your only real recourse is to complain. | 2009-09-10 06:23:00 Author: swanbrown Posts: 898 |
I'd rather not have a big yellow and grey eyesore on my shelf though Meh, it's still a cool game though, right? I mean, if they decided to put Hannah Montana and the Jonas Brothers on there, I would understand lol | 2009-09-10 07:14:00 Author: KoRnDawwg Posts: 1424 |

GOTY for LBP is kinda like Platinum and better than the ugly yellow lines... They should use the old more Platinum like color they uses for PS2 games. | 2009-09-12 14:01:00 Author: creelers Posts: 275 |
im sure it could have a subconsious impact. the irony is that its designed to increase sales. i think that the yellow is to grab attention. the subtle orange for ps2 classic hits is much better. | 2009-10-19 04:10:00 Author: mattbru77 Posts: 143 |
