I heard rumors about water.

Archive: 25 posts

I have heard rumors going around in my chat room the other day about the water pack that "will be coming out soon". I heard from a unknown person that the water pack was not going to be released until December!
Is this true?

Well, the online create beta tested for two months, and water beta hasn't started yet so, you could probably make an educated guess that it COULD appear in December. Beta testing for October and November, however there hasn't been any announcement yet.2009-09-06 15:03:00

Keep in mind Online Create is still in beta.

There's no release date, so he's talking ****.

But around December probably - for Christmas so people will get the game and get the water pack.

Expect it later than sooner, the beta has yet to even start and that will probably be at least a month long process. I'd be guessing late November at the latest.2009-09-06 15:29:00

Unless you consider December "soon", obviously it cannot be both.

So clearly, rumors and other "word of mouth" ideas do not necessitate or even imply any reasonable relationship to truth.

... that should really be the end of the rumor conversation I think.

As far as what we know (knowledge being something that is demonstrable) - we know that water has not finished being beta-tested yet.

That would imply that it's not coming out tomorrow, for example.

Online create is still in the beta, but it's not what is being tested.

I'd still say it's in beta.
It is part of, maybe not the main focus of now, but part of nonetheless, a beta test.
It is only available in this beta test, for beta tester, so until everyone gets it I'm saying it's still in beta.

I'm not concerned about water because we won't be getting it until next year at least so it's a waste of time talking about it.
I'm making a water level at the moment on my new account which looks ok to me so I don't need it.

I would much rather have Creator Pack 2 with extra tools and Leerdammer without the water and have water on it's own whenever it's eventually ready.

They are much more important.

I get tons of LAG now anyway so water is only going to make it even more laggy. Probably to the point where I wouldn't be able to use it at all.
Bear in mind that there's a possibility water may just cause too many problems in the game and may be scrapped anyway so it may never arrive.

You know, it really ticks me off when people complain about the lack of ice - just use glass! That's what they did for the Tundra! If they needed ice then they would have put that in!

Also, ice melts. Who wants that stickiness all over the floor?

Nobody, that's who.

Hey mistervista, I am not all hyped up about it, I just heard a rumor and wanted to sort it out. I didn't mean to cause such a ruckus. Just thought I might get some info on the water.

I would rather the Creator's pack 2 come out before water because I am working on my best level yet (idea can be seen in the idea forum) and I would really like to add some new stuff to it. 8^))

I do agree, that it might actually cause more lag, but it would still be cool to play around with in level creating.

Eh, you never really hear of things like this happening, mainly because by the time they've announced it, they are 99.9% sure it'll happen. Plus it's largely finished anyway. The only reason I see at this stage for it to be scrapped is legal issues, which they mentioned, if I'm not mistaken.

Ice was going to be in LBP as a danger. If sackboy touched i for too long then they would turn into a block of ice untill you shook the controller.

I did not know that.

You know, you're right. I would really like that now. Craft.

Calm down i'm not complaining xD

Ice was cut because they couldn't get it to work properly not because the game didn't need it.

I just thought if they added ice to go with the watery theme it'd be a nice thing to release towards christmas

I saw the Keywork! Anyway, uh, what are the legal issues?

As for me, I can wait for the water, but I eagerly anticipate it's release.

Ice would be a fun danger.

AW MAN, Ice looks awesome! But it doesn't really seem like a danger, because it can freeze you but can it actually kill you?2009-09-07 18:20:00

Well, if you were frozen in water I'd imagine you'd drown unless you broke out in time.

In that trailer, it shows the guy shaking his controller rather fiercely so that he could escape from being frozen. Maybe that functionality won't be present when it comes out. Of course, there's an equal chance it works just as well.

Looks like you could just jump to avoid too much contact with the Ice. Maybe that's the issue they were having and why they took it out?2009-09-07 22:42:00

Yeah, I would think that was still in there.
Fire used to stun you in a similar way, and you'd have to shake the controller to wake up.
