They're making a sequel to Okami!

Archive: 19 posts

It's for DS... which is perfect I guess. Still would have loved to see it on PS3 or any Next Gen system. But for all the amazing sounding games on the DS, this is one that is gonna force me to get one. Here's some info: http://ds.ign.com/articles/102/1020328p1.html

So is anyone else excited for this? Also, what games would you consider 'must-buys' for DS?

I am happy. I am a big fan of Okami, so I will definitly be getting this.

As for must buy games for the DS, there are a lot. Here are some . . .

Final Fantasy IV
Nintendogs
Puzzle Quest: Challenge of The Warlords
Elite Beat Agents
The World Ends With You
Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
New Super Mario Bros
Yoshi's Island DS
Mario Kart DS

And you can also check this list of the 31 best DS games . . .

I hope that helps.

I can't manage to cope with portable gaming...so I'm really ashamed that it will be out for DS (that I don't own).
I would have been ashamed even if it would have been released for the PSP (I know one but it gathers dust).

They really have to release it for the next gen platforms.
I love this sort of stylized style like in Okami, the new Prince Of Percia, Borderlands...

I bought Okami on the Wii at the start of this year. I thought the game was pretty nice, but I just couldn't get into it for some strange reason. That said, an Okami game on the DS could be very good.2009-09-06 13:03:00

That's the one major flaw in Okami, the lack of direction makes it very hard to get immersed.
It took me ages to get into it, i remember spending about an hour on the tutorial bit having no idea where to go and you still have no idea where to go towards the end of the game!

I've completed it twice and still need to keep a walkthrough up because i get lost.

Once you finally do get into it though it's a really really fun game

Apparently it is a real sequel, with you playing as Ammy's kid. Interesting.2009-09-06 14:04:00

Also, Okami did take me awhile to get into. Even though I bought it one day 1, I loved it from the first moment I played, it still took me like 6 months to complete it.

Still one of my favorite games ever, if you own it and haven't completed it, give it another go! Once it really picks up it's amazing.

I hope the sequel is also tuned for a speed run. I like challenging expert gaming feats, and I noticed that the first Okami has speed run written all over it. So since I was use to the game, I can do a speed run (no praise/no sun fragments) and beat Okami in one sitting under 12 hours. I hope the sequel allows for such freedom of options.2009-09-07 12:25:00

I also hope it's harder. That was the only real complaint I had about the game. The combat was insanely easy, and most of the puzzles were pretty straight forward.

I'd just like a little more challenge.

I don't think it shoud be harder. The game's difficulty was perfect, especially since it did have optional challenges within the game. If you want a challenge, all you have to do is a no praise and/or sun fragment run. This reminds me of people that complain that gambits in FFXII make the game easier when all you have to do is turn gambits off. But don't get me wrong, a difficulty setting might be nice.

Well if you have to not level up AT ALL to make the game a challenge, I think it's too easy...

Not to mention, getting praise is one of my favorite parts of the game.

A sequel?!?!? Wow, that makes me insanely happy. Actually, the DS is a great way to do this too, with all the celestial brushwork from the original.2009-09-08 19:47:00

I think I'll play through Okami again, I've only beat it once. It'll be fun with all the costumes (Karmic somethings..?)2009-09-12 09:16:00
