The Mysterious ForestAgentBanana/AgentBanana
http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=1155&d=1251060476There has been a rumour of a ruin hidden deep in the forest.. but nobody seems to know where. Could you be the first one to find it?

Great gameplay and cool style awaits those brave enough to try this level. Fantastic material usage and smart choices for textures and colors make it a delight to view and fun platforming with some new ideas make it a fresh feeling level to play. The lighting is used to accent location changes in a really nice way too. Don't forget to pay attention to the audio puzzle and who doesn't love a bang at the end of a level. An all around great level. This level showcases just how much getting the right material set for your level matters. Its absolutely packed with little details, and uses the three planes to wonderful effect. AgentBanana also knows his way around lighting, adding another excellent layer to his beautiful level. The level is not only great to look at, but wonderful to play. Great work!Deep in a crowded level showcase of fantastic levels ? is this little gem by AgentBanana. A combination of brilliant platforming and beautiful visuals all mixed in with some quality puzzles and an action packed environment mean that you have to play this wonderful level. And of course no level is complete without a ride in a rocket powered mine cart to the end of the level?.. ZERO GRAVITY - THE SPACE STATIONthecooper8/thecooper8
http://www.ps3page.de/wp-content/gallery/libipl/index-6.jpgYou are in a Space Station and suddenly an astroid crash it. The graviti-system doesn't work any more... now there is zero gravity. This Level shows the physics in LBP because it works like a parabolic flight. It's better not to play the Level with other Users online because the zero gravity effect is too hard for the PS3 when you play it online. Better play it alone.

Technical prowess combined with clean and cool graphics makes this level a winner. Very stylized and futuristic ship decoration combined with cool gameplay challenges make it a memorable experience. Check it out but go solo - there's a lot going on and one player is more than enough for the PS3 to keep up with in this level.I love playing levels where the creator has made something well beyond my capabilities. And this is one of those levels. A fantastic use of the physics engine produces a Zero G effect which has the PS3 itself gasping for breath.A great mechanic that simulates, and very much succeeds in giving an Anti Gravity feeling to LBP. There are plenty of things to enjoy in the level, from the first gasp at the effect, to the space walk, puzzles and finally the escape to a hostile world. Its a fantastic level thats built around an amazing and original idea, something thats hard to find 10 months into LBP. A stellar jobWhen it comes to levels set in space we are spoilt for choice with excellent visuals and brilliant platforming. However what we hadn?t seen much of is a fully working gravity system, allowing you to complete sections only with high gravity ? or in some cases less gravity. Watch your sackboy leap higher than ever before, or face him being weighed down by the gravity system used by thecooper8. A true visual masterpiece with more platforming than you would expect from such a technical level.Buddha's Lost TempleFr0d0_FragginS79/Fr0d0_FragginS79
http://i629.photobucket.com/albums/uu15/Morgana25_photos/APhoto_5-9.jpgSackboy is exhausted by all the survival challenges and races on lbp and is looking for some spiritual R&R...

Clean, and incredibly detailed buildings, statues, and landscapes await you in this amazing level. From the second you pop in you know your in for a treat. Adorable characters and a great humour run through this colourful and very fun level. The colourful chakra obstacle is beautiful and shouldn't be missed. A must play in my book.A beautiful and vibrant level. This creator really has a special level here that will leave you as satisfied as it will leave you amazed. Absolutely wonderful!I absoloutly loved the visual style, colour and design of this level. The vibrant palette simply leaps out of the screen at you when you first start the level, and then keeps you gasping with the wonderful platforming, puzzles and mechanics as you play right through the level. I loved the idea of making it rain to grow the plants, and the use of the ying-yang towards the end you have to babysit in order to achieve spiritual enlightenment. An excellent, and definite 5* level thats worthy of your hearts. It's been debated as to whether a visual style is a good thing to have ? however when someone comes along that has a style so detailed, cartoony and realistic, it's impossible to deny that this style is something to behold. From the moment you enter the level you are visually amazed ? and then you?ll have to use your brain to truly master the act of balancing. Fantastic to play and even more brilliant to watch, you shouldn?t miss this one.City in the Skybonner123/bonner123
http://i629.photobucket.com/albums/uu15/Morgana25_photos/APhoto_4-9.jpgJourney up the City in the Sky. Inspired by the Oocoo temple in LoZ TP, I decided to make this level. I focused alot on the details in this level and It's the first time I attempted to make a boss.

Charming stone buildings capped with glass domes and fantastic windmills await as in this level that will bring you to the highest parts of the sky. Jumps to test the brave of heart and a final boss with a weakness for light round out the great gameplay.Seeing levels like this make me hate my house. Why can't I live in a City in the Sky? Health and safety would have a field day of course, but if it was as beautiful and fun as this, I wouldn't care. Some excellent ideas, and cool platforming propel you higher and higher through the sky town to find the root of the problem. Bonner123 has created a charming level, but looks can be decieving because there are some challenging platforming sections and one mean boss to contend with. I thoroughly the enjoyed my romp through Sky Town, and I'm sure you will to. A JourneySyroc/Syroc
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2600/3858626402_c74963df69_o.jpgThis level takes you through several different themes. Sit back and enjoy the sights and sounds of the next part in the ToS series. I didn't plan to include that many different themes in one level, but I think that happened because I was working on it for so long with several breaks in between and listened to very different music while creating each section. There is no story in this one, but I think you can use your imagination for that.

A long level with something new just around the corner. Varied landscapes and themes blend seamlessly together making a vast world full of new areas to explore. Cool camera angles and some interesting puzzles to work out too. Spend some quality time on this level. From a darkened cave, to an imposing castle, to a deadly swamp and onto ancient ruins, 'Journey' is about as appropriate as names get for LBP levels. It's a sprawling epic that will have you captivated from the moment it starts.Syroc's new level certainly lives up to its title, it is quite a journey. Adventuring through caves, castles, swamps and ruins it impresses you with its looks and design through each area you traverse. You have to play this level, because it keeps you guessing, and on your toes, about what excellent section will come next. The only bad thing, you know at some point the level has to end!!The Ancient Land of DinosaursArt_of_Tyler/Art_of_Tyler
http://i63.photobucket.com/albums/h121/HomeyHT/TALDlbp.jpgAfter a month or so of being distracted by another game, I finally decided to come back and finish this level. I use to love Dinosaurs when I was a kid, so it's surprising I didn't make a dinosaur level until now. This level is a little different than my norm. There is no story, you just journey through a land of dinosaurs. I'm sure you guys will enjoy it.I tried to make it as beautiful as the thermometer would allow.

Dinosaurs! Very specific species of dinosaurs each designed to maximize their platforming potential await players in this fun level. Secret Egg hunting will keep you on your toes as you make your way past docile herbivores and run for your life from the carnivores! Check out the level patch too - loved that. Great design and great fun combine yet again in a fantastic level from Art_of_Tyler.Taking well known themes that have been done before and putting his own twist on things and improving them ten-fold is Art_of_Tyler's speciality. Many would be put off making a dinosaur related level due to the success of Feistyfrog's series. Art_of_Tyler however is afraid of no man and has produced a level that leaves the competition in the dust. When I played this with ARD, he asked me if the dinosaurs looked the same as I remembered them......cheeky. Even though I can't remember them I bet Art_Of_Tyler has done an excellent job recreating the beasts themselves and creating a luscious environment around them. The level looks great, plays really well, and is packed with secrets and point bubbles to run up them high scores. Whats not to like? Hear the mighty Rawr of the T-Rex, see what dinosaurs really looked like ? and enjoy some quality platforming from Art_of_Tyler along the way. A level that people like Grant and Morgana can finally relate to amongst all the space, sci-fi and modern levels out there, and it's created by one of the finest creature designers on LBPC. But can you find all of the eggs that Grantos left there, all those many years ago? Snakes on a Damewexfordian/wexfordian
http://i629.photobucket.com/albums/uu15/Morgana25_photos/APhoto_8-7.jpgA retrospect vista on the vigourous days of platforming by way of a fundamental Greco-Roman-themed level with a fulminant final struggle contra one of the three mystical gorgon, namely Medusa, Snake-haired mistress of rock.

Understated style that brings classic LBP platforming along with it. The latest level from wexfordian is a fun, well planned, and flawlessly executed design with superb yet subtle use of the infamous 3D (backscratch) glitch to make matching architectural backgrounds with the same lovely buttery lighting from the level proper. The boss battle, while not terribly hard is very cool and takes a staple of 2 player versus levels (the held weapon) and uses it in a very appropriate way. If he keeps making levels at this rate I'm sure we'll see him in spotlight 22!.HE ABSOLUTELY WILL NOT STOP!! Not the Terminator, but Wexfordian who has somehow made this classy level 38 seconds after his now renowned trilogy. What you get here is a level that looks so natural that it appears to have been grown rather than built. Platform placement is both intricate and perfect, the use of the backdrop glitch is phenomenal and with a fun boss battle at the end, you can'y go wrong with this level.Wex, wex, wex! How do you do it? I think we all know how good this level is by just looking at the creator. So I'm gonna save my words and simply say.......Wex's new level! That should be recommendation enough.Wex powers out another new level, just a few weeks after the brilliance of his latest trilogy. We?re running out of praise to give to him because he?s swamping the level showcase with his brilliant levels. This one focuses much more on platforming, but the visuals are still some of the best out there and should come with some sort of warning of their brilliance. Classic platforming from the man who brought you such classics as?.well, I?m sure you know them by now.The Descent 2javi_haguse/javi_haguse
http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=1223&d=1251660001The search for Sarah continues. Explore the rest of the cave while you discover what really lies within. Part 2/3. I put a lot of work into this one. In part 1, you go inside the cave in search for your missing friends. Part 2 starts right where the first one left off.
I worked a lot on the atmosphere of the cave while adding just a little platforming.

Horror and suspense is hard to pull off in LBP but this level is dripping with erie atmosphere and moments that will make your heart leap. The dark caverns are wonderfully sculpted and exceptional lighting techniques using flares, reflective water and sunlight are truly inspiring. Throw in some of the nastiest looking baddies I've seen in a level shown in detail in an awesome cinematic cutscene and you have an amazing level that will have you on the edge of your seat. Do not miss this level.Sky Town's Rain FactoryJump Button/Jump_button
http://img12.imageshack.us/img12/9260/aphotov.jpgLike my last sky town you need to keep a balloon with you to make you way to the rain factory, I added a bit of a story to this one. I wanted this level to be a bit harder than the last one so if you are finding it hard, you should go play my "Up & Away in Sky Town" to get use to the balloon mechanics.*LINK TO VIDEO - IF UNAVAILABLE, REMOVE THIS PORTION*

Up and away in Skytown was my favourite of all Jump_Button's wonderful creations so I was pleased as punch to see him revisit Sky Town. With this level, Jump_button has embraced the backdrop glitch to really drive home his world builing skills and the result is a level that's an absolute joy to play in.Deep cloudscapes with crazy contraptions are a gorgeous backdrop to another balloon toting adventure for sackboy. More challenging than it's predecessor it's a fun level that won't let you stroll onto the scoreboard without some effort. Adorable bird folk and a cool looking rain machine are notable sights to check out. Very fun and equally cute. You can immediatly tell a Jump_Button level just by the look of it, beautiful, detailed and packed with little features to keep your eyes pleased. You fingers certainly aren't left out however, and the return of the balloon mechanic from the last level brings with it a whole new set of challenges and obstacles to float through. One of the most relaxing and beautiful levels you can playOnce again you have the opportunity to jump further than any sackboy has before thanks to jump_button?s latest instalment of his Sky Town series. This time you?ll need all your balloon controlling skills to take down an evil rain factory and save sky town. The most relaxing level returns with a vengeance and is well worth a play or five! Stardust!Jaeyden/Jaeyden
http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/littlebiggallery/images/1889/1_A_Photo_19.jpgWell, It's been one year since I made my first level in this game and I think I might as well celebrate by releasing a new level. A spiritual successor to my old Starstruck series....this is Stardust! It's a bubble burner with plenty of distraction and things going on. There are some real big combos to be found by those willing to go there. 50x + and half a million points scores, should be the top of the board. Hope all my platformer friends enjoy....this ones for you guys.*LINK TO VIDEO - IF UNAVAILABLE, REMOVE THIS PORTION*

More bubble collecting mayhem in the form of Stardust!. No-one does abstract visuals like Jaeyden and his latest is another visual tour de force.
Bubble combo mayhem from the king of the bubble burner level. Fun and addicting, string as many bubbles together as you can paying special attention to which plane your in and where you need to be next. Run, jump, grab, swing, and fling sackboy all over this beautiful level and don't worry if you don't catch all the starry splendor of the environment - you'll be back to play it again and again. Great level!Another level by Jaeyden so we can expect.......Wonderful visuals, check! Massive point combos, check! Excellent effects, check! Gripping and taxing platforming, check! Attention to detail and unbeatable playability, check! Well, its checked all my boxes, and I've no doubt it will yours to. A sublime level from an awesome creator. The Frying SpanCaptainCowboyHat/CaptainCowboyHat
http://i629.photobucket.com/albums/uu15/Morgana25_photos/APhoto_6-9.jpgI started this level ages ago, before I started the OH NO!!! THE PRINCESS!!! levels. It's been sitting on my moon, abandoned, ever since.

Simple but beautiful wooden shapes support some really tough game play. Classic platforming with emitted blocks that force the player to anticipate their arrival in order to progress are tough but fair and will test even the harded LBP player. It's straight up platform goodness. From a creator who surprises me with every new level with his innovative platforming, I was surprised to see a single gaming mechanic running throughout this level. That's not to say it's not fun however. Precision timing and anticipation is key to survival here and all skill levels will be tested. Although not generally a fan of the emitted platform sections, this level gave me a big re-think. Its certainly challenging, but its also well crafted, with just the right amount of visuals, difficulty, and challenge. I loved it, and thats something I never thought I'd hear myself say when the first platform appeared and vanished the minute I jumped on it!!!Whichever Way the Wind Blows- Goldladylyn1/ladylyn1
http://i629.photobucket.com/albums/uu15/Morgana25_photos/APhoto_3-10.jpgMy third (and probably final) installment of the Whichever Way the Wind Blows series. However- there is NO order to playing these levels! This time your journey takes you to a desert and into the ancient temples that surround the area. There is much more of a focus on puzzle games rather than platforming in this level! Also there are two different routes to take (one being only for multi-player).

The wind blows you into a fun and stylish level. Great puzzles and wonderful stonework to take in as you make your way through this golden hued landscape. A fantastic boss with cool lighting effects await you at the end. Nicely subtle use of the 3D glitch as well make a deep and beautiful skyscapes.I stumbled across this level by accident and I'm so glad that I did. Great lighting and material work make this a feast for the eyes. Throw in some nice puzzles and an awesome boss and you have an excellent level.Just from the journey at the beginning you can tell you're about to see something special with this level. The lighting is brilliant, the visuals are fantastic and the playability is up there with the best. The 3D glitch is also extremely well used in the level, and gives some wonderful custom backgrounds that will make you stop and admire them. I played through the multiplayer path last time, but you can be sure I'm going to return to see what other delights await in the single player path.ClockworxNuclearfish/Nuclearfish
http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=705&pictureid=6118This is my fourth survival challenge. Think Meerkat Bounce, but inside a circle, which is spinning, and you'll get the idea. There are 24 platforms around the outer edge which will bounce you into the air, and for every bounce you get 10 points. Chain bounces together quickly to get a multiplier. Four of the platforms, however, are on fire, so you'll want to avoid those if possible, even though they will make you jump higher. But the real danger comes whenever you hear the clock chime. It happens randomly, and although you'll get an extra 50 points, whichever platform is at the top at the time of the chime will dissapear. Fall through the gap and you'll die.

Great survival challenge that looks wonderful. A simple chore it seems - bounce as long as you can. It's much tougher and more addicting than you'd think. Take the time to check this fun level out! This level is flat out gorgeous with a fantastic use of materials. It's also more complicated than it may look at first glance. It's also very addictive! Best served with multiplayer. When a level is this beautiful and this addictive, you have something dangerous, the "one more go" syndrome. I can't count the amount of the times I've played this level either by myself or with the full the quota of players and it gets better and better each time I do. I dare you stop playing this level once you start, its impossible. One of the very best survival challenges LBP has to offer. The Perpetual Distance - Chapter IKoRnDawwg/KoRnDawwg
http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=574&pictureid=5202Back due to request. Well, far too many requests. It's back up. Enjoy.

KoRnDawwg may not be as keen on this level as his others, but I'm glad it's back.Deep backgrounds make a beautiful backdrop for some unique gameplay. Use your "ability" to make your way through this rocky level. Love the different rock, colors shapes and textures in this one. Great special effects and a cool machine encounter. Custom music by Korndawwg as well. What's not to love! This level is dripping in story, and really makes you wish that the rest of the series was finished so you could enjoy it in its entirety. Excellent materials, very well designed and some outstanding set-pieces make this level unmissable.Hoola Man Jenkins' Cabin: The TrilogyApellesJr/ApellesJr
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v432/ApellesJr/IMG_0032.jpgEnter a world of magically breathtaking wonder. Your truck has broken down in the woods and it's getting dark out. Luckily you happen upon Hoola Man Jenkins, who offers his cabin to you for the night. Little do you know, this is just the unfortunate beginning.

This trillogy is brimming with visual splendor. From conifer filled forests to the highest cliffs and mountain peeks filled with quirky characters and interesting platforming challenges. The final boss battle is a strange and beautiful experience. Very original and memorable.Another quality visual level from ApellesJr means his entire trilogy is spotlighted. A fun set of levels to play back-to-back with some challenging gameplay and an excellent story. Make sure you don't miss out!

Congratulations creators! The quality just keeps getting better from you guys & gals! Keep 'em coming!

Just wanted to put this out again since we've had a lot of new members join. All the Spotlight levels are selected from the level showcase section of the site. There are no activity requirements anymore. So making a thread for your level is a good first step for Spotlight consideration.

Below is a list of every user (PSN ID) to have made the spotlight, ordered into how many times they have had a level included and then by order of appearance.

9. Wexfordian
7. Takelow, NinjaMcWiz, Cuzfeeshe
5.Rangerzero

Is this the number of spotlights we got in or the number levels we got spotlighted? Cause if it's the later, I have 6 levels spotlighted.

Oh and thanks guys for another great spotlight!

We comment on the ones we've played and we like. I'm not sure if the rest of the crew had a chance to check it out or not. Don't put too much meaning behind the number of comments though - could be for a number of reasons. I also have a tendancy to add levels all the way through Thursday night and even Friday morning sometimes and the rest of the crew can't get to them in time - time differences ya know.

I played it again with a friend last night and the whole way through he kept saying, "woah!" I think he really liked it too. Congrats again!

That's pretty much the reason. As much as I'd like to have it otherwise, real life often stops all 4 of us getting to play all the levels that come out.

Out of the 4 of us, 3 are adults and ones a little punk with a sore head. We have many other things going on in our lives and devote much more time than we would ordinarily to Little Big Planet in an attempt to play as many of the new levels as possible. It is inevitible that some get missed by some, or all of the spotlighters.

You may have noticed that recently we've had a whole load of new posters appear, and with them comes a whole load of new levels to play. Every episode gets harder to do because of this.

It should be noted that while on occasion, one or two of us will abstain from making a comment because they didn't particularly get on with a level, it is pretty rare that this happens and didn't happen in your case. 99 times out of 100, less than 4 comments means only that not all of us managed to play it and is not a reflection of the quality of your level.

A level with 4 comments is not considered better or 'higher up the scale' than a level with 2.

Matt.

PS. KoRnDawwg, my apologies for your brief write up. That sentence was only put down as a place holder after I'd inducted it late the other night. I planned on adding more once I'd had some sleep but totally forgot. My bad!

Its not that I think that the higher the number of comments makes better. That's just a matter of personal opinion. I just enjoy reading your reviews since they're very detailed and objective. But don't worry, I understand. I'm an adult too and can't start to imagine how busy your lives must be.

I guess whenever you have a chance to play it, let me know what you guys think.. even the punk. I don't discriminate. lol

Hi there - I can only say that the Spotlighters are not only busy, but they tend to comment on nearly every level that appears in the Level Showcase, too. When a Spotlight comes around, the Spotlight Crew can't really repeat what they may have said already, so they might choose to offer up a 'concise' conclusion to their findings. And after all, the Spotlight is a summary of all the levels submitted, and so members can browse it and read 'snapshots' of the Spotlighter's comments.

Well done for making it

Yeah my earlier comment was more of an 'open letter' than directed at you. Probably should've made that clear haha!

Anyway, dude I know that it's nice to get 4 different Spotlighters praising your levels and it kinda sucks that you only got the one. I will play yours first chance I get.

First of all, I'd like to thank everyone for choosing my levels! I am really honored.

I feel kind of stupid for correcting your stats, but technically I had 3 levels in this spotlight...so shouldn't I be included in the "most levels in 1 spotlight" I just made them into 1 thread...

Also, I've been in the spotlight twice, (Or actually 4 if you count the trilogy as 3) but for some reason I'm in the group of 1's. Also my name is spelled wrong

Anyways, no more ranting from me. Thank you!!!

Hmm, you got a comment saying it would be included? Do you mean on your level comments, or here on your level's showcase thread?

Sorry your level didn't get in to the Spotlight, but I'm almost certain it's not the practice of the Spotlight Team to promise somewhere that it would be included.

By the way, "A Journey" may well be my last level for a very long time as my PS3 beeped it's final goodbye. I'm not going to pay for it to get repaired since that was my 5th PS3. So unless I can somehow convince the customer service to repair it for free I won't be playing anything for a very long time.2009-09-05 23:55:00

there are a few things to remember about the 'fun facts'

1. grant did them, so they're probably wrong.

2. they don't include this episode. the 'fun facts' had been written before the episode was finalised and would thus need updating and no-one could be bothered doing it.

3. the info was gathered by going through each spotlight individually and counting stuff. there is no spreadsheet listing or anything to magically give us the answers. so there will be the odd mistake (also see point 1).

4. the words 'fun' and 'facts' should be taken in their loosest sense.

hopefully that clears everything up.

Now now, they were compiled in good faith on the best infomation available to Grant & Matt82 at the time. Granted, if we were sending people to the moon on this data I might want to bust out a calculator but for Spotlight purposes I think they did a bang up job.

That plus I didn't have time to help so... yea. It's a very good, albeit non scientifically verified, list of stats.

yeah I looked up the comment to see who it was. I'm not familiar with the PSN, but unless it comes from 1 of us 4, it's not reliable. and as morgana says, you wouldn't hear from us beforehand anyway.

I am not surprised that Syroc's level made it to the spotlighted page.
I am also not surpriesed that bonner123's level made it as well.
I reviewed them both and they were really good, there were some exceptions on bonner123's level though.
I can't wait to review Mysterious Forest. It is coming up on my list. In fact I can't wait to review all the levels on the list. LOL!

I think the problem is that it's two players. I don't often get a lot of time to play multiplayer because my connection can be bad.

Well, while the Spotlight team checks as many levels as we can, regardless of F4F, a good way to get your level played by a Spotlighter is to give them some feedback on a level. That way even if it gets missed in the showcase thread, it will be brought to the attention of at least one of the team.

With your level being MP only, it does of course mean that the Spotlighter playing it needs someone to play with. If there's no one online at the time, it may be forgotten about by the time others appear.

Lastly, if you think your level has been over looked, give more feedback. There are hundreds of F4F levels in the showcase threads. If you give them feedback, they're obligated to do the same for you.

Yeah part of the reason why it has got quite a limited response feedback wise is because it is 2 player, it's not easy to get feedback on a 2 player level, even though I'm quite well known on this site it still took a while for the feedback on Industrial Assistance to get rolling. As someone said, the best way would definitely be to do lots of F4F to get it noticed

I still only have half a clue of what this forum has to offer, but I can understand that being spotlighted means that you guys (the spotlight team) liked my level enough to bring it under the attention of others... I can hardly fathom that you really liked what I made, but I feel greatly honoured you did. And even if I am not a fan of my own work, maybe this means I am doing something right... it really is a boost to my self confidence, for which I thank you... hope others will enjoy it too! 2009-09-07 19:25:00
