Search the jungle for the Temple of the Sunstone! Watch out for the many traps! So far this level has a 5 star rating, probably my best so far!

This level was recommended a just a couple week ago. I replayed it and the guy at the end told me I failed. Like the first time. Does this always happen or are there secrets? I thought it was little quiet in the parts with no music and would have likes some more environmental sounds. You would really do yourself a favor with a customized icon instead of a regular sticker. It's an attractive level and the gameplay is easy but fun .2009-09-05 15:31:00

Hey Aselrahc,

I want to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this level. The gameplay was pretty good (although there were a few spots where it was only running from one section to the next, never a good idea). I especially liked the visuals in this level, they were for the most part top-notch, exceptional, with natural-looking shapes (hard to accomplish sometimes) and detailed attention to decoration and stickering.

I very much liked the character in the beginning, very nice and he gives off that stuffy museum curator feel.

Not a very original premise--many temple levels out there just as good or better than this--but it works and serves its purpose.

I loved the various traps that come at you at blazing speed, they were very nice and added a lot to the level. This level wouldn't be complete without those traps.

The sound design was surprisingly good, I felt like I was in a temple deep within the confines of a tropical jungle. And that I was avoiding traps for my life.

A few of my customary nitpicks:

-Sometimes the treasure box lids were difficult to get off. Change the material to a lighter one, like cardboard or dissolve. Make sure to sticker it, as well.

-The first sun you encounter says 'it's' when it should be 'its'.

That's it. This level easily gets :star::star::star::star::star: and a heart.

Great job.

Kipmonlin, if you have the stone with you at the end He should reward you. I will look into it tonight, but it always has worked for me. As for the running from one place to the next, I understand the concern. It can be difficult to decide what to add or not to a level. I tried to make a level that was not too hard, many of mine in the past were, but keep it interesting enough that it wouldn't make a huge difference! As for the music and sounds, I would love to do more with sounds, the music is just where I want it, but My thermometer is all fulled up!
I am going to go turn it on right now and look at some of the raised issues! Thanks for commenting!

Oh, you have to have the stone with you? That makes sense though. I wonder why I didn't think of that. Awesome level.2009-09-10 22:17:00

Ok, I forgot to fix the grammar when the sun says it's instead of its. I'll get around to that, lol.
The part at the end where it's only running was built assuming you have the stone in your hand. If you don't I'm sure it seems kinda silly. Whatever you do, don't grab the skulls that are just lying on the ground. They really are cursed! Lol!
I turned on some more music in the middle section. I'm not sure if I like it, but I will let it stand for now. Not hard to turn it off! Thanks again to all who have played it. Try my other levels, both solid 4 star levels!

Your best level so far imo. Tons that I adored about this level:

+ Lighting is subtle and superb. Great daylight effects, green spooky effects, fire is fantastic!
+ Camera work is excellent (this I think is one of your greatest skills) Very dramatic and nicley sets off your landscapes)
+ Fantastic scale of landscapes. Just the right size relative to sackboy to feel natural. Really hard to do for some people and it seems you've managed it effortlessly which is a talent itself.
+ Wonderful material usage - love the layered rocks with varying textures and the turquoise accents you have. Spnge and metal are nice choices where you have them as well.
+ The booby traps are excellent! I love the natural feeling physics of them. They add a very nice sense of danger and reality to the level. Very Indiana Jones adventure feeling. Probably one of the best examples of this I've played.
+I loved the bubble fountain area
+ Great sense of humor (chips and reward)

Found a couple of things you might want to take a second look at:
- The bubble fountain is set for infinite bubbles (I hung around just to see how many it was set for and yup, it's infinite) If you reduce this you can gain back a bit of thermo and not devalue the bubbles in the rest of the level. (It's the spot right before the big door you have to pull the two skulls for with the circle motif above the door)
- In the shaft immediately following this door it is possible to get a squished death in the rock formation. Maybe reshape the rocks on the right of the checkpoint at the bottom to avoid this.
- The treasure box lids are not grabable and they can get stuck inside the box very easily. I'd make that tiny lid edge from a grabable material so the player can remove the lid and get the bubbles.
- Such a great level deserves a custom badge. Take a photo of one of the higher contrast areas (like where the stone is or the turquoise disk with the sun decoration for the badge.) It's a small detail but the first a potential player sees so it's important.

This level deserves WAY more plays and most certainly deserves it's 5 star rating. After playing your Cheese level then this one I hearted you as a creator (you only have 10 and that's a crime!) and gave both levels 5 stars & hearted them. I'm looking forward to more levels from you - Keep up the excellent work!

I loved this as well as your Cheese in the dark levels. Really amazing.

Just to re-iterate what Morgana said, I would ditch the massive caches of spawning bubbles. The other levels had a few moments too. The infinite bubble fountain renders the treasure chests obsolete and means players will spend time sitting under the fountain rather than playing the level.

Same with the ones in Cheese in the Dark. Having players stand about while they get a whole load of score bubbles thrown at them disrupts the flow of the level and has them standing about doing nothing for the duration.

Anyway, both levels get stars and this one gets a heart.

I like the fact that you get the jungle part right, that's the part that many people don't make well. The theming was great, the lighting changes added bags of atmosphere and the booby traps are hilarious, if a bit unfair (lol). I really like this level. I'm a big fan of temple levels and this is much better than the bogstandard temple stone and a few traps here and there - this has bags of character. 5* and hearted!2009-11-18 19:17:00

The infinite bubble cache has been changed to a 25 bubble spewing area triggered by a proximity switch! Also the handles on the treasure boxes were enlarged so that they might be grabbable!2009-11-21 17:34:00

This level was brilliant! Here were the top moments for me:

- The visual effects used to create the waterfalls were brilliant. I had to look twice at the second one because it looked like real water for a moment.

- Loved the use of camera positioning to motivate the player to look in the other direction. Very good idea.

- Vines were a unique and interesting idea.

- The area right under the first vines where you first enter the temple is beautifully created. I'd be very proud of this. Fantastic use of lighting too!

- I don't want to give anything away to anyone else who may want to play but there was a moment in this that scared the crap out of me! It involved a skeleton - that's all I'm saying.

As you could probably tell I'm highly motivated by the visual style but the game play was also very fun.

Great stuff. I hearted this, and I don't do that often.
