Help with making an Intro

Archive: 5 posts

Fr my new level I need an intro, like the ones where you are on a lift or something and go past words. I also need it to stop at certain points so the player can see what is happening properly.

How do I do this?!

What you need to do is use boxes of DM, Dissolve, and lots of magnetic keys. With this you can do almost anything. To make it stop at certain points, I would put an inverted mag key switch on a platform connected to a piston, connect the mag key switch to the piston, and made each area where you stop have a mag key on a piece of dissolve and connect it to a gravity-powered timer. You can be creative, there's plenty of ways to do this, you just need to plan it out first.2009-09-02 15:59:00

Both of my latest levels have that type of intro..
If you want I can give you the structure of it. Just add me to your psn.

Basically is an elevator in the back layer with a set camera, and then you put the intro in the front layers.

Let me know

The player doesn't necessarily have to move. What I did was put everything on pistons off-screen and leave the player trapped in a box (with the option to skip with R1) in the back layer. This way, you can make a skip mechanism so the player doesn't have to wait for your introduction every time they play the level. I just made a block on a piston with a magnetic key that triggered switches like a timer in order to set the order of events.2009-09-02 20:42:00
