This level is very challenging. You have to break into a Lair in the mountains, avoid lots of traps, and destroy a computer type boss.

I'm brutally honest, so I apologize.

Very well made, the level looks great. You successfully applied the wilderness theme to a tee.

I know you warn of the level's difficulty, but the overall feel of the level was more annoyance than difficulty. A lot of great machinery at work, but some of the various elements and hazards combined got frustrating. I think this has more to do with completing the same obstacle numerous times in a row rather than only maybe at max three. Completing the glass floor, electrified pistons was more of a chore than a challenge. I have made the mistake on three of my four levels by making them fun for myself, but difficult and frustrating for others, and I really had to think and hold back many ideas in completing my latest level. It sucks not being able to make that crazy obstacle, but at times that obstacle lacks playability for the masses.

But if pure difficulty is what you are going for, then you succeeded. Great challenging level.

The boss was extremely cool looking and one of the best I've seen. The first problem is that I was able to destroy the left turret from the paintinator without putting myself in any danger. From then on, I felt as if I could not avoid any of the boss's attacks and just found myself getting some shots off, dying, and repeating the process. Did not make for a fun experience. Cool looking, but not fun. Also the last phase of the boss where both turrets destroyed and the middle section opens up, I found myself getting some shots off hitting the center section, and then having no chance against its attack. Then I would respawn, wait 20 seconds for the center to open again, only to die again. This made the final phase of the boss extremely tedious.

The boss just seemed unfair, and it was hard to find a pattern where I could survive. Again this might just be me, but the boss could be toned down or tweaked in the players favor. Again, it looks awesome, and the attacks are spot on, they just need to be toned down slightly.

Great :star::star::star::star: Level. Just keep refining the level to make it more accessible.

Thanks for the input. And yes, difficulty was my main task. I know it can get tough and frustrating at times, but not giving up and chugging on is the fun part in my opinion. I find myself running through to many levels that are very well made far to easily and the experience is over in a flash. Maybe you have to play it a couple of times, but when you finish, you actually feel a since of accomplishment. Call me nostalgic, but in games like Contra, Mario Bros, or even Crash Bandicoot you didn't complete every level on the first go round but you kept coming back for more. Right?

I changed up a lot of stuff in my level to hopefully make it better.

I added infinite checkpoints everywhere to make it a little easier to enjoy. I upgraded the visuals a little bit and added a short storyline. I also tweaked some areas to reduce the slowdown. I also edited the Boss a little bit .

If you play it, let me know what you think.

Part 2, The Big Escape is coming soon!

Awesome level!

I love a great challenge, and totally agree - I'm sick and tired of otherwise great looking levels being too easy!

Good job!

I almost quit the level at beginning because it didn't look like much, but I remembered the pictures and gave it another minute. It got better along the way. Try to make a spectacular entrance for part 2. The platforming was good, lots of fun obstacles, but a lot of lag with everything going on. I liked the long slide in the back layer at one point. Boss fight was the highlight of the level. Laggy but fun, just a little too long. I like the way it opened, but the turret required too many hits. Hope you can crank it up for part 2 .2009-09-09 03:06:00
